I was pretty happy in the past but my experience for the past 2 days have been pretty frustrating. Please fix it or revert back to the previous version. It happened on both my ipad and iphone. **Developer response:** Thanks for this feedback. I need some further explanation as to when it is crashing. Can you email me the details please ### 3/5 — Promising, but needs work *2024-10-22* The app needs serious work. It could use modern spaced repetition, and better, more professional and up to date, pronunciation—no one, except perhaps those at certain seminaries, thinks Erasmian is the way to go. The images are not always clear what in the image the Greek word refers to, i.e, they are not specific enough. Sometimes they are distracting and misleading. The app has serious lag when selecting vocabulary sets. I wish I didn’t have to tap on flip. The app does not seem as polished as other Greek apps out there/the ui and functionality often seems dated and has a 90s/early 2000s feel. 3 stars for being able to select vocab by book/letter AND range of chapters. No one else has that, well done. Also for the wide selection of grammars to go along with. Also, the immense customization in the options. If I couldn’t turn off the images, the sound, the English Bible verses (I’d rather they were in Greek), and I couldn’t select vocab by book and chapter, I’d give it 2 stars. But making it so that it is so customizable is the reason why I keep using it, even if it doesn’t seem as polished as other apps out there. **Developer response:** Thanks very much for your review. As I teach Greek and know quite a number who do, I disagree with you on Erasmian pronunciation - it continues to be widely used. That said, I would like to add reconstructed Koine as an option in the future. I need to weight his with the reality that it would double the app size. And in almost 15 years, you are the first to actually make the request! Image mnemonics are subjective of course. If you have suggestions I’ll welcome them, but the images actually existed and were used in teaching for many years before I made the app and many students have appreciated them. But I get that others don’t, which is why they can be toggled. In terms of tapping “flip” you can use the auto-play feature so it goes automatically. UI is often subjective too. I actually hired a UI pro and updated in the 2010s :-) Again thanks for your honest rating and review. What a true blessing! ### 5/5 — Suggestion *2024-08-22* I think it'll be great if there's an option to hide the gloss of the lexical form and only show the greek. The glosses were like memory cues to me for remembering the lexical form, but that isn't reflective of what reading through the GNT looks like, so I would need put a thumb over the gloss as its difficult not to look at the gloss when its right below the greek word. ### 1/5 — Flashcard Woe *2024-08-04* I have extensive experience with Koine Greek, spanning four years at the undergraduate level, four years at the master's level, and an additional two years of preparation for my PhD. Out of all the apps I have tried, Flash Greek Pro has the best vocabulary and even includes some pronunciation for words, which is a definite plus. However, the positives end there. The primary issue with Flash Greek Pro is its lack of a fundamental feature: the ability to go back to previous flashcards. This omission severely undermines its utility as a learning tool. The design for filling the flashcards is arbitrary and doesn't make much sense, further compounding the frustration. Moreover, the app is slow and becomes increasingly unresponsive as the number of flashcards grows, often leading to crashes. But the most glaring flaw remains the inability to navigate back through the flashcards. If you have, say, 500 flashcards, you can only move forward. If you get a card wrong, it will eventually come back around, but this is not efficient for learning. Many learners, including myself, benefit greatly from repeatedly going back and forth through flashcards. This flexibility is crucial for thorough learning and retention, and its absence renders the app nearly useless. The inability to review and revisit cards freely ruins the app's effectiveness for Koine Greek learning. Despite its good concept and strong vocabulary, Flash Greek Pro is not worth any investment. Until these critical issues are addressed, I cannot recommend it. The settings need to be tweaked so that turning off the images does not turn off the word definition. Some answers are incorrect, which is surprising. For example, a few words in the perfect tense are described as being aorist. Overall, not a bad app but could certainly be improved. ### 5/5 — Review *2024-02-28* This program is help me to further enhance my Greek by being able to study on the go! ### 4/5 — Overall best Greek vocab app, but a few issues… *2023-05-20, version 3.1* This app is super helpful for studying by frequency, by textbook, or by book/chapter. I really like the example verses—they help me learn new word better by context. But there are a few issues that I wish could be resolved improved: 1) Some Greek words do not reveal the English gloss when you “flip” the card, and there’s no way to report it in the app. I can figure it out by the verse context or just googling it, but sometimes I forget what the Greek word is after flipping the card. 2) I wish there was a way to save progress with a certain set, or to create a subset of missed words to review later. It’s annoying to accidentally click back or close the app or just open it the next day and have to start all the way from the beginning with the full set. 2b) on that note, it’s way to easy to accidentally go back to settings and lose all of my progress. I was through 220/280 word set when I clicked the settings button because I thought I could a setting without losing my progress…😭 3) I wish there was a way to select a frequency list for the whole GNT, but appearing within certain books—like, I’m working on words appearing 21-50x in the GNT, but I have a Pauline Epistles exam coming up. My professor will give a a vocab list on the text for any words 20x frequency and under for the whole GNT. I wish I could make a study set of words appearing 21-50x in the GNT as a whole, but only those that appear in Romans-Philemon. I can get a study set for just Romans-Philemon, but it automatically includes all words with 50x or under frequency, and I wish I could exclude 20x and under.
