For example, having the ability to hide listings that I don’t like or mark preferences so they don’t keep appearing would make the process much more efficient. The filters could also be improved by adding more specific options, such as pets. For example, I am allergic to cats, so having a “no cats” preference would prevent me from being matched with houses that are not suitable for me and save everyone’s time. It would also be helpful to have a filter for the maximum number of people in the house. For me, four people would be the absolute maximum, so being able to exclude houses with five or six people would make the search much more relevant. Overall, adding more detailed filters and personal preferences would make it easier to find suitable homes and create a much better experience for both renters and property advertisers. ### 3/5 — Average app *2026-06-22, version 4.0.0* The concept is great but the app isn’t great. So Frustrating ### 2/5 — The app is very slow *2026-04-17* The app itself is good, makes it very easy to find a place that is suitable for you, not showing places that don’t have your preferred preferences like other apps, however when typing the app is so slow it makes it very difficult to communicate with people on there, it also takes a good few moments to even get onto the app, and as some one who is also using their plan I find this quite frustrating ### 1/5 — Fix the app *2026-04-16, version 3.8.1* I lunch the app then go to messages, it doesn’t work. You have to restart the app 10 times for the message section to work. I get to message “Oops, we’re having trouble” I uninstalled once or twice still the same. ### 1/5 — Surprisingly bad *2026-04-02, version 3.8.1* The app just does what it wants in terms of navigation. Going through listings and messaging people you’d often end up messaging the wrong person because it’d take you to the wrong profile. The design is fine but it’s so buggy. Typing on the message box is crazily slow and delayed as well while it (I assume) checks what you’re typing on the fly. However, when using it on a mobile device, messages can take a long time to load and occasionally fail altogether, only going through after multiple attempts. Unfortunately, my experience with some users on this platform has been extremely disappointing. Certain lessors will agree to rent you a room, only to change their mind at the last minute, leaving you in a vulnerable position. Others attempt to take advantage of urgent housing situations by demanding immediate bond payments without providing a written rental agreement, keys, or any form of identification to verify that they are the legitimate lessor. While the rental market is challenging, you may be better off pursuing more secure and formal avenues when searching for accommodation. Always ensure that the lessor provides proper documentation before transferring any funds. Please check consumer protection website for more details. ### 2/5 — Prospective Tenents *2026-02-22, version 3.8.1* Hi I’m finding it difficult to see the listings of people looking for rooms to rent ### 1/5 — Good app but charged me more for some reason. *2026-02-15, version 3.8.1* I purchased the basic plan for $34.99 aud (from Aus myself) and get charged $59.98 for some reason???. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t deliver *2026-02-13* I move around a lot so finding short term accommodation is a real pain point I’m looking to solve. Unfortunately, this is not it. Tried on the paid version but it’s basically useless. Main issues: - nobody responds. Which is a problem when trying to organise accomodation 😂 - this is compounded by the fact you get two messages before you have to go paid. Now I get monetising the platform but effectively you are strangling the market place at source. - I did upgrade but doesn’t matter, people don’t actively check it - the search is useless. Doesn’t even let you pick “entire place” up front. - Also let’s say I want something from 28th February because, you know, I need a house from 28th February. All that does is not show you anything before that date. Still shows you everything available in December!! So you manually have to trudge through. - or if I want something for 4 weeks, you can put that in but as nobody sets the parameters it just gives you everything back anyway. Essentially it’s like a sort of version of Facebook Groups but where you pay for people to not respond to you **Developer response:** Hi Jason, thanks for the feedback. To increase your replies, we recommend contacting recently active members with a Response Rate of 80% or more. For entire places, select Whole property, Granny flat, Studio, or 1‑bed flats, and note that the availability filter shows listings available from that date onward. We hope you find the right place soon! ### 1/5 — Don’t Bother Sending Messages without Premium *2026-02-09* Sent messages to 3 different people on this app, as I’m not paying for premium it understandably doesn’t send immediately. I’ve now waited over a week and my messages still haven’t been sent to the flat owners. Absolute waste of time **Developer response:** Hi there, members can instantly contact about 60% of the listings on the site even without an upgrade. Messages to "Early Bird" listings however will be released after a 14-day period. In order to make those changes, I have to create and pay for a completely new ad again. I also receive emails saying that I have been given one month of subscription for free, but this does not appear to be true. Additionally, even after paying, I still need to manually activate the ad, and shortly after it gets automatically deactivated again. I have sent emails to customer support but I have not received any response. ### 1/5 — Terrible app and customer service *2026-05-26, version 4.0.0* Don’t buy the app! Use flat mate finders instead. Not worth upgrading. It’s all a scam. There are issues with messages being sent as well. I doubt your listing gets boosted on any upgrade. Then they ask for an extra $10 to do so. The only drawback is that messaging flatmates directly and getting immediate responses requires a paid upgrade. Without it, messages are delayed, which can be an issue if you need to find a place urgently. For me, the upgrade was worth it because of the time pressure. If you’re searching quickly, keep this limitation of the free version in mind. Otherwise, Flatmates has a wide range of listings, from budget rooms to more premium options, so it suits most needs. On the third day I was sitting in a room with one of the house mates discussing the requirements needed to move in. It was fantastic how Flatmates found places for me to inspect In my preferred locations do quickly and if all gos well , and there is n reason to think it won’t, I will be moving in next week .
