### 5/5 — The Fleshmaster

*2015-02-19*

I absolutely love Flesh Master! Whoever created it is a genius! I've beaten all the levels, but when I updated it there were two new levels, they were a bit tricky. Can't wait to see what the Flesh Master comes up with next!!

### 5/5 — this is awesome

*2015-02-19*

this app really helped me with my color theory. great learning tool.

### 5/5 — As practical and no-nonsense as a ruler

*2015-02-16*

Whether you're in it for fun or commerce, Fleshmaster demystifies color theory and distills it down to its basics. Presented as a game, it's really the simplest way for users to grasp the concept. Who doesn't want to be a Fleshmaster?

### 5/5 — Great App

*2015-02-15*

This app has been a tremendous help. I can figure out how to mix and match colors faster than ever. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — The fastest way to understand colors.

*2015-01-16*

If you work with color, you must have this app. I have been using it at least once a week, and have really been able to recognize more subtleties in color.

### 5/5 — Just get it

*2013-12-02, version 1.2*

Great exercise for artists of any kind! It's a very fun app that actually helps you develop a better eye for mixing colors.

### 5/5 — Amazing App

A great learning and reference tool. The game feature is not only fun but greatly enhances intuitive skills.

### 5/5 — So Much More Than Flesh!

*2013-07-14*

The Color Square is absolute genius! The traditional color wheel was never quite specific enough for me, but the color SQUARE is what I've always been looking for!
I love crafts and am constantly searching for color recipes, and the reference chart saves me so much time, and paint!
I understand color on a whole new level. Muuuuaahhh to Flesh Master!!!!

### 5/5 — Thank you!!

*2013-07-07, version 1.2*

I struggle when I base match. This is already helping.

### 5/5 — Love This App!

*2013-07-01*

This is such a great tool for learning about colors. Not only do you learn about how to mix colors, but the fun game actually trains your eye to see the nuances of color. The game is super fun, and even makes me more aware of the feeling different colors bring out in me. There are three sections to this app: lesson, game and color reference chart. It's created in a way that is never dull and always fun and lively. This app is great for anyone who works with color in any visual medium.

A fairly unique good little app, does what it says on the tin. Even has a game to keep you entertained

### 5/5 — Invaluable tool!

*2013-07-01*

I am a painter, and can tell you the struggles I have had in the past with mixing the perfect light flesh tone. FleshMaster is an invaluable tool to help speed the process. The game is fun too!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2013-06-29, version 1.1*

I'm not good at why colors look the way they do, but this app fills in the gaps for me. A must have for makeup artists!!!

### 5/5 — FleshMASTER!!

*2013-06-23*

This is absolutely perfect, I'm a make up effects artist and I never took formal classes about color theory or painting. So it was perfect for someone like me to actually make sense of what I do, it's simplified my color mixing immensely. A great fun game and a quick and easy to understand color grid (color wheel).

I love it!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2013-06-10, version 1.1*

I find the reference chart is super. It helps me make the colors and shades. Great work.

### 5/5 — Great learning tool!

*2013-05-31, version 1.0*

This is a great way to learn the color wheel and how colors mix.

### 2/5 — Color mixing? Sure. Flesh tones? Eh...no.

*2019-05-03*

While this app could be quite helpful for understanding some very basic color mixing, for flesh tones I found that it fell quite flat.

I made it though the entire game in a matter of minutes and was left feeling pretty disappointed with my $2 purchase.

The final round that is supposed to focus on flesh tones specifically, maybe half the colors were even remotely flesh toned, and of those the lighter flesh tones were all warm or neutral, with ONE light flesh tone being cooler. Even some of the colors on the “cool” side are not cool. Coral/salmon are not cool colors. Not even remotely.

I can see this app having a lot of potential, but it still has quite a ways to go.

**Developer response:** Hi, Jewelzroze! Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts - always appreciated. Sorry for the delay in response; I just returned from teaching this approach at Makeup Artist Magazine’s IMATS in London and am getting over my jet lag.

It sounds like you are used to identifying colors as either WARM or COOL. The main focus of the app is to train (retrain) your eyes to see fleshtones (including freckles, blemishes, age spots, lip colors, blush, veintones and more) as either more YELLOW or RED. This is similar to how post-production colorists use the “Fleshline” to correct an actor’s skin tone, and how makeup brands like Make Up For Ever label their foundations Y and R instead of WARM or COOL.

Flesh Master is deceptively simple by design, but with that being said, one can zip through it quickly and miss out on each level’s benefits. Before giving up, I'd like you to please revisit and retry each level, reviewing the purpose of each level (by clicking the "?" at the bottom of the game page). Remember, concentrate on seeing each color as either more YELLOW or RED rather than WARM or COOL. When you get back to the Master and Flesh practice levels, visualize those colors not only as base colors, but as freckles, blemishes, age spots, etc. and beyond.

I hope that helps!

Thanks, Jewelz:)

### 2/5 — Es más un juego que una ayuda

*2017-08-16, version 1.5*

### 4/5 — Great: want more!

*2014-10-13*

Great resource for artists, love the specificity on skin tones. You pay mainly for the theory, which is well worth it if you're not as familiar with blending. I'd be so happy to give this a 5 if the interactive parts also included practice mixing digital 'pigments' to match a goal color. [I realize you do this in real life with paints/makeup, but it would be great to practice the actual creating. None of my clients have boxes for me to drag a swatch into, but all of them have a given skin tone for me to mix existing colors for.]

### 4/5 — Helpful

*2013-08-17, version 1.2*

Great and fun tool for learning color basics! Also provides ratios of blue:yellow:red for color mixing! I only wish the game portion was longer.

### 5/5 — Fun and informative

*2025-05-23*

Having played flesh master before I knew what to expect however this new version is not only better looking but now runs flawless and looks great on my iPad. It’s easy to pick up but definitely gets hard quick. I’m an artist by trade so I find it great to tune my skills but what really surprised me was that my 7 year old daughter was able to pick it up and play. Its great to watch her learn high level color theory. knowing that her attention span isn’t the greatest I was surprised that it kept her attention and she enjoyed playing it as well. I’d highly recommend this app as it’s fun, easy to pick up and keeps your skills sharp. Great for kids and adults as well! Thanks flesh master for making learning color theory fun!!

### 5/5 — If you paint this app is for you

I bought this app to help train my brain about color theory without constantly referencing wheels. It’s super easy to understand and use and has already helped me so much! Highly recommend!
