### 3/5 — Needs dark mode support

*2026-07-26, version 7.1.1*

This is long overdue

### 2/5 — Underwhelming trigger options

*2026-03-07, version 7.1.1*

So much to like about the form factor and concept. However, I’m not able to use these buttons for my needs (triggering custom iOS shortcuts) without a paid ongoing IFTTT app subscription. I’ll dive into Reddit discussions now and spend more hours trying to figure out how to co figure this button will save me a few seconds for my intended use - app workflow setup. Maybe these are ok for home lights integration though.

### 3/5 — Potential... But

*2026-01-09, version 7.1.0*

No iOS Shortcut actions :( ... the basic hub seems to limit the actions or providers even more, not sure why they'd sell something that hamstrings the button functionality. I had to make incredibly complicated integration just to run Shortcut that makes a iOS intercom announcement for handicap person.

### 2/5 — Horrible customer service and spotty connections

*2024-09-15, version 6.1.4*

Very disappointed, would not recommend this product.

### 2/5 — Latest Update Crashes Constantly

*2024-03-12, version 6.0.6*

Unsure if the last update introduced this bug, but as of the latest version, attempting to set an Advanced push and twist action for a Flic Twist immediately crashes the app.

### 1/5 — Flic app crashes

*2024-03-11, version 6.0.6*

The app crashes every time I click on Flic Twist advanced setup

### 1/5 — Connectivity issues

*2023-12-18, version 6.0.2*

Not sure where the problem is but had trouble connecting to Wi-Fi out of the gate. After force quitting I finally got it connected to the hub and now it can’t seem to find my Sonos speakers. Guess I’ll never know how good the buttons are

### 1/5 — Disappointed with app support for Twist

*2023-11-24, version 6.0.2*

The lack of support in the app for the Twist is disappointing and frustrating. Especially since Flic has had at least 2 years to build out the software in parallel with the hardware. At least allow for more than 4 points in the Advanced Dimming mode.. This would greatly help actually using the Twist as intended!

### 1/5 — They don’t reliably at all

*2023-10-25*

Constantly disconnects from Bluetooth and then can’t reconnect it without completely deleting and re-adding the button. Even after doing that, it just loses the connection again after a couple of days, awful.

In addition, there’s no shortcuts support. I thought I’d be able to run a shortcut by pushing a button. No such luck. I would never recommend these to an iOS user

### 1/5 — Don’t bother.

*2023-09-25, version 6.0.2*

There’s less than 5 brands it works with out of hundreds.

### 3/5 — ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

*2023-09-21, version 6.0.2*

A dark mode would be much appreciated.

### 2/5 — Poorly equipped with features

*2023-09-14*

I could go on about the lack of functionality, especially no integration with the shortcuts app. But why on earth does the app offer a counter function with no function to be able to reset the counter to zero? Seriously…tap to increase by one and then set a double tap to reset to zero. Unless it’s not possible, then this is incredibly poorly thought out.

### 1/5 — Hub Firmware Updates

*2023-09-04*

The UX for this is terrible. The experience is such that it feels like it was designed by someone who never once used it. Where is the pride in the work that matches app quality / UX to that of the buttons themselves?? Wherever it is it is missing. And the contact support option was changed few years back to a most prolific waste of user time eg for submitting a feedback like this. I will never use the support channel again - it’s worst in class!

**Developer response:** Hi Steel. We would like to know more about the issue that your facing. Could you please explain to us as detailed as possible? Best regards, The Flic Team.

### 1/5 — New update now. Itching is connected to HomeKit

*2023-03-07, version 5.4.0*

I have spent 9 hours the last two days trying to get everything to work. My 6 flic buttons and hun are unuseable after update I hard reset everything and delegated my home in home kit. Started from scratch…nothing I hate you flic.

### 2/5 — Firmware Updates…

*2023-02-07, version 5.3.1*

Really disappointing UX on updating firmware considering this comes from such a good company/product! Also, still missing the incorporation of Siri and shortcuts integrations! (for hub-based flics - standard and HomeKit configured buttons). Would be very useful for remote triggering of IR involved buttons and then pairing that with other HomeKit-based scenes and discrete actions. 4 stars otherwise.

### 1/5 — Crashes immediately

*2023-01-02, version 5.2.0*

The flic app on iPhone is no longer usable. I get past the terms & conditions switch but as soon as I enter my login info, the app crashes and when I reopen its back on the terms & conditions. I cannot log in to access my hub or buttons at all.

### 4/5 — Needs to extend virtual keypad capability

*2021-12-08, version 5.1.5*

This is a great product. I use it with my hubs, with my iPhone and iPads. I have recently discovered its Universal feature, which allows my flic to simulate a keypress on my PC and using something like Autohotkey accomplish a lot of new things.

I just wish their universal feature emulated a lot of ‘virtual’ keys, like F13 to F24. That way the hotkeys would not compete with software hotkeys.

I would love to have emailed this suggestion, but Shortcut Labs does not publish any emails addresses. A dubious practice.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not user friendly!

*2026-04-06, version 7.1.1*

Struggling here! Trying to link flic with Lockly!

### 1/5 — Stuck in a bygone age

*2026-03-12, version 7.1.1*

I bought these buttons specifically because they can interact directly with the iPhone. But all the options in the app are just junk, trigger a fart sound, really????

Flic buttons are not cheap by any stretch but they are dated technology. No support to open up apps on the iPhone, no support to open up shortcuts on the iPhone. Without this these are useless. There is a way using a web browser to open the shortcut but this triggers an are you sure pop up that you have to unlock your phone to click and then it works. Junk. Developers need to implement radical changes to make this useful in 2026 and make flic relevant.

I know there are workarounds using accessibility and full keyboard control but my point is at the price of flic buttons you should not need bodges and hacks, flic just need to pull their fingers out and make their product work.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-03-01, version 7.1.1*

I have one button I’ve reset it four times and it still doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — UPDATE broken

*2026-01-31, version 7.1.1*

Everything with my Flic system controlling my Alexa and Sonos devices was working great until an update yesterday. It’s obvious that the update created issues for additional users who were not initially impacted by the alleged “bugs”. Super disappointing to have my entire system rendered useless. Hoping a fix is made soon…

### 1/5 — Probably the worst thing on the automation market

*2025-12-13, version 7.0.5*

Aside from the ridiculously high prices, the product is woefully underperforming.

I’m about three or four years into using FLIC LR and FLIC 2 buttons and tired of resetting the hub to factory settings.

I have been using the buttons for light controls via Alexa but it’s just so flaky.

Time to give up.

I have a working Home Assistant server running and have Zigbee and Matter devices, as well as Tuya, so I tried using the FLIC with that… but the software is so bad that I would rather stick pins in my eyes than spend another minute using this tool!

I’ve replaced the FLIC buttons with SONOFF buttons via Zigbee and it’s time to sell this FLIC garbage to some other mug to lose sleep over.

### 1/5 — flic buttons won’t pair for phone app

*2025-10-15, version 7.0.2*

The flic buttons are programmed in the hub but aren’t detected by the phone portion of the app.

### 1/5 — Update fails

*2025-04-28, version 6.1.7*

Aside from the shambolic performance issues and poor functionality of the flic twists and the connection to Amazon always failing. Now the hub won’t even update to try and fix the drop out.

### 1/5 — Does not work with HomeKit

*2025-04-08, version 6.1.7*

Bought because it says it supports HomeKit, but it never actually adds the buttons to HomeKit.

### 1/5 — Such garbage

*2024-11-07, version 6.1.4*

What a pile of hot shot. This is the wrist iot product ever created. Such sloppy engineering. Buttons constantly fail to work and flash randomly. Have a box of these buttons. I keep them as a reminder to never buy tech products without researching them first

### 1/5 — Own it. Hate it.

*2024-04-20*

I have the buttons, twists and hub. Trash. Always disconnect. Very limited functionality. CLOSED to any possibilities such as hubitat or home assistant. When this company and app does so will the product (YOUR) product. Also, Matter is support is nowhere even though they advertise it in one of their App Store screens.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Long lasting

*2025-07-24, version 6.1.9*

Have so many around the house with flic hub LR. Works great now and got them when they launched on kick-starter in 2020 and still working well.

### 5/5 — Best Button for a smart home!

*2025-03-04, version 6.1.7*

Flic is the glue that ties my smart home together. Even with Alexa or Siri, sometimes it just best to control your lights when you walk into the room by the press of a button. Flic paired with the Flic Hub provides the fastest, I mean instant control of lights and other devices! Matter is also supported with their hubs which makes the buttons even more powerful. I love flic and how easy they make it to control almost anything with their devices.

### 5/5 — Awesome with Shortcuts

*2022-12-13, version 5.2.0*

Flic buttons are one of the few technologies in my life that’s genuinely reliable and actually does what it promises to do.

I use Flic to run iOS Shortcuts (opening a shortcuts:// URL with Flic’s website action). I use them all day to control lights, music, podcasts, wake-up and sleep shortcuts. It’s awesome.

However, this trick only works when Flic is the frontmost app and my iPhone is unlocked. Which hasn’t been a problem, but I do wish Flic buttons could open URLs or run shortcuts in the background.

I’d also be grateful for a dark mode option.

### 5/5 — Great work.

*2021-03-05, version 5.1.0*

The aplication UI is very easy to use. Buttons are very responsive when using the Hub. Thank you for adding HomeKit capability.

### 5/5 — Great & clever idea

*2021-03-05, version 5.1.0*

Brilliant little buttons that help me automate many different tasks. Button next to my bed to turn all the lights off. Button to change volume on the TV. Button downstairs to turn on the stereo upstairs. I also use a Flic original button as a ‘clicker’ for Keynote presentations at work. Can do a wide range of different things. Very powerful tool. Also very small & sleek buttons.

### 5/5 — Working great with Alexa!

*2021-02-27, version 5.1.0*

Just enabled the Alexa skill and it worked just as described in the skill. So great! So easy and straightforward, I have absolutely no complaints!

### 5/5 — HomeKit Support!!

*2020-12-09, version 5.0.0*

The HomeKit integration is great and works as advertised. I love these buttons when integrated with HomeKit. I never used them until HomeKit support was available as that’s all I care about and Flic delivered in this category!

### 5/5 — They delivered.

*2020-12-01, version 5.0.0*

It’s happened. HomeKit is here and it works. However Apple for some reason does not allow you toggle devices so you’d have to workaround it which is unfortunate but isn’t Flic’s fault. End of the day; Flic delivered.

### 5/5 — 5 stars

*2020-11-28, version 4.0.8*

Deserves.

### 5/5 — Very cool

*2019-03-15, version 3.3.5*

Just started working with my new flic. I think it’s terrific. Highly recommend
