## What is Flickdeck?

Flickdeck is a fully-featured flashcard app built around one motion: the flick.

Flip a card, then flick it in the direction that says how well you knew it. Left for Forgot, right for Good, up for Easy, down for Hard. It feels like cardstock leaving your hand.

Underneath, the schedule is run by FSRS, a modern spaced-repetition algorithm. Each card comes back right around the moment you'd have forgotten it, which is when reviewing does the most good. You never decide what to study; the deck already knows.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
  • Flick to rate. Four directions, each with a colored glow so you can see the call before you commit. Prefer buttons? They're always there.
  • Test what's due. A short daily session of exactly the cards that are ready, and nothing more.
  • Review anytime. Drill a whole deck the night before something matters. Cramming never fools your real schedule.
  • Build rich cards. Text, photos, and audio on either side, so a card can show a face, play a phrase, or both.
  • Hear it spoken. A tap reads any card aloud, each side in its own language. A French front sounds French; its English back sounds English.
  • Quiz both directions. One switch adds the reverse card, scheduled on its own so your daily load doesn't double.
  • Review from your wrist. The Apple Watch app carries your chosen decks: same flick, synced back before you've lowered your arm, with a complication that keeps the count on your watch face.
  • Glance at the widget. Today's due count and the deck that needs you, right on your home screen.
  • Ask Siri. "Check what's due in Flickdeck" gets you the count and the deck without opening the app. It sits in Spotlight and Shortcuts too.
  • One quiet reminder. A single notification a day at most, and none when nothing is due.
  • Watch your progress. Plain stats on what you've reviewed and what's ahead.

KNOW IT BY A DATE
Most flashcard apps only know "forever." Flickdeck can also work backward from a date. Tell a deck when the exam is and it paces new cards so the load stays even and keeps every card coming back before the deadline. If the timeline won't work, it says so early instead of letting you find out in the last week. When the date passes, one tap switches the deck to maintenance so what you learned stays learned.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics. Everything stays on your device. The privacy label reads "Data Not Collected" because there is nothing to collect.

PAY ONCE
No subscription and nothing for sale inside the app. Your decks are files you own: export a full backup with progress intact, or share a single deck over AirDrop or Messages. A friend's copy starts fresh, and tapping it opens straight into Flickdeck.

Most days this takes about five minutes. That's the point.

Flick it to remember it.

## Frequently asked questions about Flickdeck

### How does Flickdeck's learning method work?

Flickdeck utilizes the FSRS spaced-repetition algorithm. This algorithm schedules cards to reappear at optimal intervals, just before you're likely to forget them, maximizing learning efficiency. You interact by flicking cards based on how well you remembered them.

### What kind of content can I put on Flickdeck cards?

You can create rich flashcards with text, photos, and audio on either side. This allows for diverse learning materials, such as displaying an image on one side and text on the other, or using audio for pronunciation practice.

### Can I use Flickdeck on my Apple Watch?

Yes, Flickdeck offers an Apple Watch app that syncs your chosen decks. You can use the same flicking motion on your wrist to review cards, with a complication available to display the number of due cards on your watch face.

### Does Flickdeck have ads?

No, Flickdeck is ad-free. The app is designed with privacy in mind and does not contain advertisements.

### What is the price of Flickdeck?

Flickdeck is a paid application, priced at $3.99. There are no subscriptions or in-app purchases, meaning you pay once for full access.

### How does Flickdeck handle learning for specific dates or exams?

Flickdeck allows you to set a deadline for your decks. It then paces new cards and reviews to ensure you encounter all material before your target date, providing early warnings if the timeline is unworkable.

### Is Flickdeck available on multiple devices?

Flickdeck is supported on iPhone and Apple Watch. All your data is stored locally on your device, ensuring privacy and allowing for easy export and sharing of decks.

### How often is Flickdeck updated?

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-08-19

Send a deck over Messages and it now shows a preview right in the thread. Import a deck you already have and Flickdeck offers to add just its new cards so work or study groups can build the same deck together without anyone losing their own progress.

Also in this version:
• Set each deck's daily pace: 5 to 30 new cards a day, or None to pause new cards while reviews continue. New decks start at a calmer 10.
• The widget comes in a wider size that lists which decks need you, and every count updates the minute you finish reviewing.
• Sessions wear the deck's name up top, a tap anywhere reveals the answer, and finishing takes you home.
• Photos import sharper, you can preview a card while writing it, and cards with images now show them on Apple Watch.

### 1.1 — 2026-08-11

Flickdeck is now on your wrist. Pick which decks go to Apple Watch and your due cards are there when you raise it — flick to rate, exactly like the phone, and it all syncs back on its own. Nothing due? Practice mode shuffles the whole deck. A complication keeps today's count on your watch face.

Also in this version:
  • Counts now say what they mean: "5 due · 10 new" instead of one blended number, in deck badges, the widget, reminders, and Siri.
  • Cards in your own language speak with the voice you've chosen in Settings — including Siri and premium voices. Other languages still get a matching voice of their own.
  • Free ready-made decks are now a tap away: Get free decks in Settings opens the library at flickdeck.page/decks.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-07-26

New here? Flickdeck now opens with a short welcome screen, and the rebuilt "How Flickdeck works" deck teaches each flick by having you do it. Fresh installs also come with two starter decks; if you're already set up, the same decks are free at flickdeck.page/decks.

Also in this version:
  • Long answers shrink to fit the card instead of getting cut off.
  • Each deck can set a spoken language per side (in Deck settings), so speak-aloud stops guessing wrong on short words. The Spanish deck now sounds Spanish.
  • The rating buttons are down to what matters: Forgot, Hard, Good, Easy. Rate what happened and the schedule handles the rest.
