Flight Data Recorder (FDR) is an iPhone / iPad utility application for 'recording' your own data. As its name suggests, it mimics what an aircraft "black box" does, by recording position, altitude and attitude data, along with cockpit voice (cockpit voice recorder, CVR), such that complete information for a flight can be stored.  A CVR records the conversation in the cockpit, and radio communications between the crew and air traffic control (ATC), as well as other ambient sounds (cockpit warnings, etc.).

I think this is almost the only app of its kind. Great features, including cockpit voice recording. This is a "must have" for any serious pilot or anyone wanting to keep track of trips of any kind. 

Have used it in combination with the Instructor Station program which allows analyzing data in multiple ways. I have owned the instructor station for some time and it's a great little program. Really a must have!

Very recommended.

A very simple looking display. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I tried it on a flight one afternoon, and when I got to my destination, it had not save a single note. I set one of the parameters to begin recording when the aircraft reached 15knots. The unit never came on.

On the way back I turned the unit on before leaving the ground, and it captured most of the flight.

It has a lot of potential and has a lot of neat information including the ability to read the METARS/TAF out loud. However, really needs a better interface, text is small to read, needs to be more in line with iOS7. All the information is crammed into one screen.
