The app opens by ASKING you IF it can check for updates, then proceeds to SHOW YOU it updating EVERY category individually. If there are updates it ASKS you if it’s okay for you to update. There are CONSTANT unnecessary popups containing information that is not helpful or useful. This is a crazy nitpick but it seems like whoever’s been doing the recent questions is one of those people who doesn’t understand how to correctly use “…” so expect to see a lot of “…” just randomly in paragraphs where it shouldn’t be… (like that) The Home Screen of the app is the single ugliest UI I’ve seen in years. It’s AWFUL to use, looks like a child made it in 5 seconds on a google doc with text boxes and RIDICULOUS text color choices, and has no redeeming qualities. You can’t access the memory aid from the questions screen because the creator thinks it’s the 1960s and people are just carrying pieces of paper with them wherever they go to study, which gets kind of annoying when you have to switch between apps or exit the screen to access it. I really hope they eventually decide to hire an app designer to fix it. Or maybe I don’t. Maybe this is an art piece, a beautiful mistake. I cannot imagine it has ever been updated or revamped. Nobody could ever think this looks good and every time I open the app I find something new to be appalled at. ### 5/5 — Excellent and well worth the money *2025-10-17* While the Flight Test program may appear basic, it works extremely well, and the content Sheppard has is well worth the meager amount they charge for it. This is truly the best way to study for an FAA exam. ### 4/5 — Suggested Improvement *2025-07-31* I would like to propose that when a question has an associated figure relevant to the answer, that the program would automatically show the figure instead of having to toggle to it and then also toggle the question page back to the main view. It also constantly logs you out and you have to call and get a new password, if your iPad breaks good luck getting a new login, the lady’s at the call center are at least always nice ### 5/5 — Landscape Mode is Great *2025-03-28, version 20.70.2* It’s hard to complain when this got me a 99% on the ATP Multiengine exam. Plan for about 30-35 hours of dedicated study, though, because 1200 questions with graphs and spaghetti charts is a lot… ### 3/5 — Content very effective, app needs work *2025-01-12* As others have noted, Sheppard is a great test prep service, but the app would benefit from some updates. The content is superb. The bug with the app logging out every time it goes into the background has been fixed. However, it still can’t show figures and questions at the same time. That makes for a very frustrating experience, it isn’t how competing systems work, and it isn’t how the real FAA tests work. Just buy it you wont regret it. If you switch to another app, even for a second, it closes and has to reload. It is good about saving progress so it’s merely annoying, but it is pretty annoying.
