## What is FlightFinder?

FlightFinder turns official aviation-safety records into something you can read before you fly.

Look up a flight and see which aircraft type operates it, how old that fleet is, and what the investigation record says about that airframe. Everything traces back to an official report rather than an opinion.

WHAT IS INSIDE
- Flight check: aircraft type, fleet age and safety history for a specific flight
- Accidents near you: investigated occurrences around your current location
- Safety feed: recent events worldwide, each linking back to its official report
- Aircraft browser: search by type, family or operator
- Wildlife strikes, laser strikes, runway incursions and drone sightings from FAA and other public datasets
- On-time performance and fleet age by airline
- Turbulence forecast map: where the ride is likely to get bumpy at cruise altitude

WHERE THE DATA COMES FROM
Records are compiled from public sources including the FAA, the NTSB, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, the BEA in France and other national investigation authorities. Every entry links to its source so you can check it yourself.

WHAT THIS APP DOES NOT DO
It does not predict crashes and it does not rank airlines by danger. Reporting practices differ between countries, operators and decades, so counts reflect what was reported rather than everything that happened. Where that distinction changes how a number should be read, we say so on the page.

Location is used only to find occurrences near you, and only when you ask for it.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.0.12 — 2026-09-20

Fixes, and the libraries under the app brought up to date.

- Taps that did nothing now open the page: safety brief headings, incident cards and the homepage lead story
- Flight check reads more of what people actually type into the flight-number field
- The filter panel no longer freezes at the width it opened with
- The airport panel's close button is no longer hidden under the fullscreen toggle
- The bundled app is refreshed to the current site

Every record still links back to the official report it came from.

### 1.0.8 — 2026-08-24

This update brings the app up to date with everything published on himaxym.com since the last release.

- Accidents near you: faster location lookup and clearer distance and date lines
- Aircraft, airline and airport profiles: reworked layouts, easier reading on a phone
- Live map: cleaner filters and legends, no more blank map on first open
- Turbulence: a route-first outlook you can check before a flight
- Aviation news and data stories, updated daily
- New: the Civil Aeronautics Manuals library, 47 parts of US aviation rules from 1938 to 1963
- Stability fixes and faster start-up

As always: every record links back to the official report it came from.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-08-18
