### 2/5 — Recording

*2025-03-20, version 3.0.2*

Only records my voice and not atc.

### 4/5 — Great sound

*2023-02-22, version 3.0.2*

Great sound and comfort but the flight link app only records my voice, what can I do to correct that?

### 3/5 — Good concept, only recording my voice

*2022-08-17, version 3.0.2*

This is a great concept, and a feature that (with a few others) steered me away from Bose.
However, I can only get it to record my voice, not all transmissions trough the headset. Is that a fix?

### 1/5 — Deleted My Recording

*2021-03-06, version 3.0.1*

The ability to record my audio via Bluetooth was a primary consideration when buying my $850 Zulu 3 headset. I’ve been waiting all week to try out the recording function. Had an amazing flight with my Dad today, recorded the audio, got home and hit the export button. Everything deleted. So upset.

It appears this is a common issue. Maybe I’m on the cheap side of things, but $850 is a lot to spend to have this initial experience. I’m definitely going to try to return these. Really disappointed.

### 1/5 — Lots of Promise, Does Not Deliver

*2021-01-26, version 3.0.1*

This app does not do what Lightspeed says it will do. Doing an export to m4a is extremely buggy. Switching apps, letting he screen turn off, or looking at the app wrong will result in the export failing, and the application deleting the source recording. All that needs to change is for the app not to delete the source recording on export or compression, and then I would be able to recover and try again, but it doesn’t even do that, which means that this app is worse than no app at all. It’s the promise of a recording app, but in reality you’ll find that in more than 50% of cases, you’ll have hours of recordings summarily deleted.

Absolutely avoid.

### 1/5 — Deletes your files

*2021-01-18, version 3.0.1*

Be careful sharing your file because about half the time I deletes my audio and I can’t recover it. Lost the recording of my first solo :/

### 3/5 — Great Feature, Poor Execution

*2021-01-04, version 3.0.1*

I was victim to my recording being lost on export. Similar to many others here.

I converted to M4A. Then I hit the export button to Save To Files. Now my file is gone from the app and I have no idea where it went.

I bought the Zulu 3’s specifically for this feature, but losing files is very annoying. If this is some kind of user error, make it harder for this to happen. But I can assure you I didn’t hit the trash

### 1/5 — Major technical issue

*2020-11-02, version 3.0.1*

After recording audio, there is no way to export the audio. When one tries to “share” or export, the app goes into an infinite loop. When you close the app, somehow it deletes the audio forever. This has happened every time I have tried to share the audio. This issue needs to be addressed as so many are relying on this feature. Also, there should be a way to back up the audio to the cloud so that audio isn’t permanently lost.

### 2/5 — Poor Functionality, Files Disappearing,

*2020-10-12, version 3.0.1*

TL;DR - App is clunky and difficult to get working properly, files can disappear without warning.

While the FlightLink app is visually appealing and easy to interact with, getting it to work is an absolute nightmare. The app doesn’t record cockpit audio or ATC without first enabling the the “FlightLink” DIP Switch on the inside of your headset’s in-line volume controls. In addition to that, it doesn’t work over Bluetooth, so you’re required to use the audio cable provided with your headset in order for all the audio to record properly.

Once you go through the trouble of getting the app working, it offers a frustrating user experience. If not converted to the M4A format before sharing, files will be permanently deleted without notice. The audio playback feature is passable at best, with poor scrubbing controls and a lack of helpful features like a trim function which would be helpful for longer recordings.

Save yourself the trouble and buy an external audio recorder and audio cables to use with your aircraft's headset plugs. It’s much easier and more reliable than this clunky piece of software.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2020-07-27, version 3.0.1*

It does not record anything other than from my headset’s mike picked up (2013 Sierra). So no ATC play back or record or any communication from other crew.

### 2/5 — Sounds horrible

*2020-07-24, version 3.0.1*

Not sure if I have something set wrong but the engine noise is overwhelming when trying to listen to the audio. After calling Lightspeed they said on a Zulu 2 you have to use the aux cable!!! On a Bluetooth capable device and an Bluetooth IPad???Why???

### 1/5 — Poor interface with my PC

*2020-06-12, version 3.0.1*

Impossible to download recordings

### 4/5 — Great feature, decent app

*2020-06-02, version 3.0.1*

This app is a great feature. I would love to see improvements continue to be made. It is very handy for flight instructors and anyone looking to improve their radio work.

### 2/5 — Faulty Recording Feature

*2020-05-20, version 3.0.1*

Every time I have tried to record my cockpit audio the app has failed to do so. If you shut off your Bluetooth before stopping a recording, you WILL lose your audio recording and the app not the online support page for the FlightLink app indicate this will happen. This app needs work and needs to have an auto save feature when the Bluetooth connect is lost. Lots of room for improvement. Hopefully this app is still being debugged and improved.

### 2/5 — Not recording ATC with Sierra headset

*2020-04-22, version 3.0.1*

The help page says "FlightLink records all audio (external and internal) passing through the intercom in your aircraft." – but that is not happening. I can hear myself alright in the BT recordings, but no ATC - that was what I was hoping for.
Do I need to change some obscure DIP switch setting..?
Will be happy to assign more stars if that actually works.

### 2/5 — File vanished

*2020-03-01, version 3.0.1*

While trying to airdrop, kept saying Failed (even though i had just airdropped two large videos) the file vanished! It was my first flight in a Cirrus and wanted to capture my reactions. Bummed. This app isn’t stable and not a good tool if you need something. reliable.

### 1/5 — Does not save recordings

*2020-02-15, version 3.0.1*

After using the app with my Zulu 3’s on my most recent flight. I looked down upon landing, saw my recoding active. Tapped the toggle for ‘stop’ and the app crashed. Not saving my recording. I will not waste another hour of time with this app

### 1/5 — Worst airline ever

*2024-01-01, version 3.0.2*

Do not flight in flight link is the worse airline I ever been. They have tricky policies and they will try to scam you. They gave us the incorrect amount of money trying to charge us fees. They try to charge us more than twice the cost of the tickets. Worst customer expirience ever. Worst aircraft very unprofesional. Go to other airline like presicion air. Do not trust this company

### 1/5 — Files disappear and don’t transfer

*2022-11-24, version 3.0.2*

I attempted to transfer the audio from my sons first flight to make a video, however it just disappeared while attempting to transfer the audio file.

### 1/5 — What a load of crap

*2022-11-22, version 3.0.2*

Hit record and went on a 2 hr flight. At the end of the flight I went to check out the recording and when I reopened the app it said another app shut it down. I got 17 seconds of the engine running from the ambient mic. Zero from the comms. Waste of space on my devices.

### 1/5 — Quits

*2022-01-25, version 3.0.1*

App has not worked since I purchased the headsets and downloaded the app. It quits after 2 seconds with the message, “Recording Stopped - the recording was stopped by another application”. There is nothing in the faq section about this. I have no other applications running Bluetooth. I bought these headsets because of the app.

### 1/5 — Zulu 3 with audio cable to iPhone/app

*2021-11-28, version 3.0.1*

Don’t waste you time on this app. The recordings simply disappear without a trace.

### 1/5 — Will delete your records

*2021-11-28, version 3.0.1*

The most important purpose of this application is to record audio, and this the only thing application cannot do. In many times it will not start recording (you need to be precise in action order when to turn on headset, when to turn on avionics on plan, when connect cable etc). But even if you succeed record audio, it still huge chance that you will lose it. I switched to plain audio recording app and never lose recording after that

### 1/5 — Great idea but files disappearing makes the app a waste of time

*2021-06-23, version 3.0.1*

I love my Zulu 3s and the idea of this app.

But unfortunately with an iPhone 12 if the files are longer than an hour it will cause the export function of the app to crash and for whatever corresponding file to disappear with no recovery feature.

Please please fix this major issue

### 1/5 — Do something! Update!

*2021-06-21, version 3.0.1*

The only reason I bought this headset was for this recording feature. It is riddled with issues, no support, no updates. Regrettable purchase.

### 1/5 — It’s trash….

*2021-06-07, version 3.0.1*

The last thing you want in aviation is an unintuitive non functioning app. Welp, this app is just that….

Toggle switch on the back or not…. This app is not user friendly and doesn’t not function as advertised.

If this feature is the point of consideration for you buying a lightspeed headset…. Just know that the app is trash.

PS: still love my zulu3 though.

### 1/5 — Disappearing files

*2021-04-24, version 3.0.1*

It is very annoying that my files are disappearing when I try to export them.
FAQ is not right that they will be available via iTunes...
C R A P :(

### 5/5 — Works

*2026-03-10, version 3.0.2*

You can connect the Lightspeed Zulu 2 to the app and record through Bluetooth. The other app called LightSpeed doesn’t work though.

### 5/5 — Does what it says

*2025-07-23, version 3.0.2*

I don’t use this much, but when I have it’s worked great at recording everything my headset takes in.

### 5/5 — Help me

*2020-07-10, version 3.0.1*

I was trying to upload my voice record but it’s gone. I didn’t delete its gone by itself. Help me please really important document for me

### 5/5 — Fixed

*2020-01-27, version 3.0.1*

Now updated to work with iOS 13. Thanks.

### 5/5 — Garbage

*2019-11-24, version 3.0.0*

Used to work well on my old iPhone 6. Now, iPhone 8? Completely hosed up. I don’t know why Lightspeed doesn’t spend a few bucks to fix this thing. It used to be really good.

### 5/5 — Very helpful for learning

*2016-10-29, version 2.3*

Being able to replay comms after a lesson is an invaluable way of reviewing mistakes and instructions, it really speeds up the learning process. Very useful and makes the Zulu worth every penny.

My main request is that there needs to be a way to speed up playback by removing silent gaps. Ideally a setting that auto skips any silence of more than a few seconds.

Also when playing back, please prevent the device from shutting the screen off as it stops the playback.

Then it would definitely get 5 stars.

### 5/5 — Should record everything not just the mic

*2014-04-20, version 2.0*

It is a great app. Works well. When I found where to set to record everything you hear :)

### 5/5 — Great cockpit addition

*2013-10-15, version 1.2*

This fantastic app is great to use along with a GoPro camera to record and playback my flights. It's great to use when taking friends and family flying to give them a video to remember the trip!

### 5/5 — Zulu 2 headset settings

*2013-01-15*

There is one DIP switch setting you’ll want to check. Open up the battery door of the headset’s controller and remove the battery to find the switches. Switch 6, labeled “Leave Off” in current models, needs to be in the ON position if you want to record everything you hear including the radio and other passengers. In the OFF position, just the headset microphone is connected to the recorder and it’s unsquelched, meaning you’ll hear plenty of background noise when you’re not talking. But with the switch ON, recordings are excellent and identical to what you hear in your headset.

I’ve been a Lightspeed user for more than ten years, and have continually traded in my older headsets for newer versions under the Trade Up program. If you have the original Zulu headset as I did, you’ll need to trade-up to the Zulu.2 headset. And if you owned a Zulu.2 headset prior to the FlightLink app launch in late July, you’ll need to pay $69 to get your headset upgraded to a newer version of the Zulu.2 that works with the app.

### 5/5 — Private Pilot

*2013-01-08*

I purchased the Zulu 2 just so I could have this feature, and it works as advertised. The only trouble I am having now is figuring out how to export the audio from the Ipad to my computer...
