## What is FlockDetour?

Find Flock Safety cameras and other license plate readers (ALPR) on a free map. Compare the fastest route with detours that pass fewer known cameras. Works with Apple CarPlay.

FlockDetour is GPS navigation built around that map. Plan a trip and compare the fastest route with Balanced and Fewer cameras detours. Each route shows the minutes and miles it adds and how many known plate readers it passes. You decide what the detour is worth.

The camera map, fastest-route preview, agency records, and news are free. Turn-by-turn navigation and the Balanced and Fewer cameras modes require FlockDetour Pro.

IN YOUR CAR (APPLE CARPLAY)
• See the camera map on your car's screen
• Choose a Fastest, Balanced, or Fewer cameras route before you leave
• Follow turn-by-turn directions
• Get a warning when a known camera is ahead on your route
• Keep a map in the CarPlay Dashboard
• Preview the fastest route free in CarPlay; turn-by-turn navigation and the two privacy modes require FlockDetour Pro

CAMERA MAP (FREE)
• Browse known Flock Safety cameras, other ALPRs, and speed and red-light cameras
• Open a camera record to see its source and confidence level; direction and operator appear when known
• Search destinations and save the places you drive to
• Report a camera you've seen; new reports stay private until reviewed

FASTEST-ROUTE PREVIEW (FREE)
• Plan any trip to see the fastest route's line, drive time, and distance
• Count the known cameras on it before you go

AGENCY RECORDS (FREE)
• Look up agencies that publish a Flock Safety transparency portal
• See how long each agency keeps plate data, how many searches it ran, its vehicle detections, and which outside organizations can search its cameras
• Every record links to the agency's official portal. If the agency doesn't publish a figure, the record leaves it out instead of showing zero

FLOCKDETOUR NEWS (FREE)
• Flock Safety and ALPR coverage, updated hourly, with links to the original sources

FLOCKDETOUR PRO
• Turn-by-turn directions with voice guidance, on your phone and in CarPlay
• Balanced and Fewer cameras modes, designed to reduce exposure to known cameras
• Background proximity alerts near known camera sites
• Download new offline regions for the basemap and cached cameras

Try every route mode at flockdetour.com, which plans the same routes free in any browser. No account needed.

HONEST COVERAGE
• A blank area on the map never means camera-free
• Routes show tradeoffs, not guarantees
• Recent destinations stay on your device

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No plate scanning
• No FlockDetour account
• No ads, and no sale of personal data
• No route history kept by FlockDetour
• Control cached data and alert preferences in Settings

FlockDetour reduces exposure to cameras documented in its current data. It cannot identify every camera, guarantee avoidance, replace traffic laws, or ensure a route is surveillance-free. Always follow posted signs and drive safely.

FlockDetour Pro is available through monthly and yearly auto-renewing subscriptions or a lifetime one-time purchase. The app displays only the localized price supplied by the App Store. Apple handles payment and subscription management.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.5 — 2026-10-21

• CarPlay: on cars that support it, the map now shows on the instrument cluster too, with exit numbers on highway exits and the exit angle at roundabouts.
• Siri: say "Drive home with FlockDetour" or "Drive to work with FlockDetour" once Home or Work is saved.
• Save favorite places beyond Home and Work, on the phone and in the car.
• A trip started in the car shows on your phone, and arriving offers parking nearby.
• Updated for iOS 27 and iPhone Duo, plus smaller fixes.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-10-12

Fixes for the phone and for CarPlay.

Mute now means silent in the car. The speaker button steps through voice, camera chime only, and off.

On CarPlay, Back returns to the list you picked a place from. Ending a trip can be undone, and a stop can be skipped. A trip started on your phone now appears on a car screen that's already connected. If a reroute fails or the GPS signal drops, the screen says so.

Driving past a stop you missed no longer drops it from the trip.

On the phone, the distance to the next turn is correct again after you leave the route and rejoin it. The app now notices when you're driving the route the wrong way and reroutes. On a road your route uses twice, guidance stays on the leg you're driving, with the screen on or off.

If the speed limit lookup fails as a trip starts, the app tries again.

Canceling an offline map download right after starting it no longer leaves it stuck.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-10-07

CarPlay has been reworked after test drives on a real car screen.

Say where to: open Destinations in CarPlay, tap "Say where to" and speak a place. Your phone turns the speech into text. The audio stays on the phone.

A new car map with day and night colors, bigger street names and less clutter. The route preview now frames the whole trip beside the route card.

Clearer turns. Highway exits read like the sign, the next road shows under "Then", and the speed limit sits beside your speed.

Route choices lead with the drive time and the camera count.

Search puts nearby places first, understands airport codes like DCA, and lists gas stations nearest first.

Camera warnings count down to the camera. A block of street cameras is one warning instead of several.

The CarPlay Dashboard has Home and Work buttons.

Unplug in the middle of a trip and it's waiting on your phone, one tap from Start. Plug back in and it picks up in the car.

Fixed: the position arrow no longer wanders while you're parked. The camera count on a route preview now matches the count once you start driving.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-10-04

FlockDetour now works with Apple CarPlay. Your car's screen shows the camera map and lets you choose a Fastest, Balanced or Fewer cameras route. Turn-by-turn directions warn you when a known camera is ahead. There's also a map in the CarPlay Dashboard.

The fastest-route preview is now free on your phone and in CarPlay. It shows the route line, drive time, distance and known cameras along it. Turn-by-turn directions and the Balanced and Fewer cameras modes are part of FlockDetour Pro.

Also new: Agencies. Look up agencies that publish a Flock Safety transparency portal and see how long each one keeps plate data.

Fixed: FlockDetour no longer waits for the map to find you before routing. And text no longer gets cut off anywhere in the app.

### 1.0.0 — 2026-09-29

No release notes.
