### 4/5 — Love being organized

*2025-12-22, version 5.1.2*

So far this app has been great in every way. The only thing it’s missing for me is the ability to leave the “laid by” selection blank when recording an individual egg and similarly, leave the “flock” selection blank in bulk entry. Most people don’t know who laid what, but still want to keep track of how many eggs are laid total.

### 3/5 — Great for some things not for others

*2025-10-24, version 4.14*

I want so badly for this app to do what I can do easier in a notebook being tracking fertility & hatch rates of my breeding pens individually not as a whole. If I want to track which pen is laying best sure, I can have a great color graph by pen or by hen if you know whos egg your counting daily. BUT falls extremely short where its most important for anyone with more than 1 generic group and just curious of the hatch rates of a particular set. To explain its shortfall in my case & many more serious that are attempting to advance out lines is we have multiple small groups of the same breed’s & various varieties within so to explain it easier….
When Im in hatching mode I will set a tray of 36 Silkie eggs every 4-7 days so adding an additional tray to my cabinet until its filled then on to the next.
At 10 days I candle each tray to check fertility. In those 36 eggs are the eggs laid from 10 different pairs trios or quad of breeders Im attempting to track from who’s laying all the way through their entire life egg to death or removal. This is all but impossible to do or at least easily without needing to add 10 sets for each tray due to eggs in it from 10 pens that may be 1 of the 36 or 12 of the 36 in the tray. Sooo…. In order to track the numbering would need to have way too much effort to input all the redundancies to be useful for 10 sets every few days for 3 months (example) set 1.1 set 1.2 set 1.3 etc etc when all that is needed to eliminate this would be an option to add additional lines instead of limiting to one. Pretty much like each days egg collection. In those lines having the ability to give candle results then number into lockdown & hatch rate. We do this quickly and easily in our notebooks and has been a major point in breeder friends of mine not wanting to buy into the app if they’re already achieving this with a simple ledger that includes all their pens and all this data in a checklist of the pens & how each pen preformed.
Also what happened to the ability to add photo album to each member?? Says it there but can only add the profile pic remove or change no additional
Ive reached out to the developer who is eager to get feedback to improve but had no interest in my suggestion stated in this review. Maybe just to complex of a program to code or wasnt understanding but either way nothing change so might just go back to my notebook as Ive always done

### 4/5 — Best Inexpensive App

*2025-10-12, version 4.13*

I’ve been using this app for about a week and love it. Great interface for users. You can track eggs by individual chickens if you know who laid what, but you can also track by using a bulk entry. The app does not allow you to indicate a specific chicken laid an egg as part of the bulk entry. It would be great if that feature was added to bulk entry so that if you collect multiple eggs but can only identify one of the eggs for a specific hen, you don’t have to do two separate entries.

### 4/5 — Best Inexpensive App

*2025-09-30*

I’ve been using this app for a few days and so far I love it. The app is very user friendly. I mainly track eggs as a bulk add because I don’t know exactly which hens laid which eggs, but the ability to track who laid eggs is great. Just wish I could indicate in the bulk add the names of the hens if I can identify them vs having to add them separately. I also wish you could add multiple photos to an entry instead of only one.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2025-08-22, version 4.11*

I have had the app since may of 2025 and am really loving the app. I just wish that you can put what color eggs my hens lay without having to take a picture and so I can color code them. Right now I’m having to use the journal to give myself a description of the color and texture of some of the eggs. I have 1 hen that always lays a green egg that is roughly on the fat side of the egg and I also have a hen that lays a green egg that has bumps on her egg. My other hens have specific shapes and such by sometimes my camera doesn’t show what I want to see on them. I gave 5 stars because it has really helped me. Thanks for a wonderful app

### 5/5 — Love but

*2025-08-13, version 4.11*

I love this app so much and it worked so good but I’m not paying it was better when it was free I’d rather just track them on Notes

### 3/5 — Love, but needs simplicity

*2025-08-09, version 4.11*

Absolutely LOVE ♥️ this app. It needs updating with its simplicity. It is very excel sheets. Take into consideration folks with seeing difficulty and making the app more fun and easier to link websites and other breeder information. Maybe breeder profile pages and also client profile pages to keep track of what clients purchase.

It would be great to have the hatch go to a run automatically so I can then link to sell the chicks and track that data.
Maybe there is a way, but I haven’t figured it out yet.

### 5/5 — The best poultry app out there!

*2025-08-01, version 4.10*

This is absolutely the best app for any poultry keeper. It has everything you can think of for tracking and they keep adding more to it continuously. It just keeps getting better and better. You can track eggs counts, damaged eggs, expenses, income, medications, health, weights, broodiness, the lineage of your lines, incubation of eggs, and it now will send you reminders.I am sure I have forgot something . It is definitely worth downloading!

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2025-07-15, version 4.9*

I absolutely love this app! I use it for all my chicken keeping records. Only wish it had a designated place with details to keep track of deceased birds, instead of just having to make them inactive in each flock.

### 5/5 — Great App and FANTASTIC Texh Support!!

*2025-07-12, version 4.9*

Listen. I don’t leave reviews. But in this case, Brian, with Flockstar absolutely deserves one! I’ve been using this app to track our backyard chickens eggs for 2+ years. We started out with 9 chickens, as normal people do, and that quickly escalated to having 30 at one point… I absolutely love collecting eggs and logging them in the Flockstar app every night. Yes, I do know what each of my chicken’s eggs look like 99% of the time, lol. The App shows who is laying regularly, who has slacked off and may need some extra TLC, I can tell which breeds are heavy layers vs. not, etc. So it does exactly what it claims to do and I’m happy to pay the yearly fee. But HERE is why I’m leaving a review: I had to upgrade my iPhone and when I went to log my eggs, the app prompted me to sign in. So I followed the steps and when I got logged in ALL OF MY DATA WAS GONE. Y’all. I’ve logged about 4,500 eggs for 30 something chickens. I like to go back and compare patterns to see things like how Loretta started slowing down this time last year, too, and there was nothing to be concerned about - it was just too dang hot out. You get the gyst. So it’s Friday night, I’m feeling some very deep sorrow, so I shoot an SOS email via the “contact Flockstar” link asking if they can help me retrieve my data. Brian emailed me back within MINUTES and told me exactly what steps to take to fix my problem and VOILA: there were my 5 flocks again with their beautiful egg number graphs. That is incredible customer service. Thank you, Brian!!

### 5/5 — Carder Farm Cooperative

*2025-05-16, version 4.5.0*

This app has been great for me and a buddy. I originally started out doing chickens for my FFA SAE, but it evolved in to a full time egg production co-op. This app has become a very helpful resource in managing all of the expenses and my chickens production information. For what this app offers, the subscription fee is very cheap.

### 5/5 — Notifications?

*2025-05-14, version 4.6.0*

App seems great. I’m just getting everything set up. Can you please add notifications on day 18 to “lockdown” your hatch. This would be amazing to have!

### 4/5 — Great app

*2025-05-11, version 4.5.0*

Love this app. Being able to have all the data from expenses to profit. Track egg production. All great.
My only complaint is once you track your entry you can’t change it. So make a mistake. Oh well. Can’t fix. Wish you could.

### 5/5 — Working well

*2025-05-07, version 4.5.0*

This app is working well for me to manage my flock. Please add an option to add multiple eggs for a specific member, or a member to a bulk entry. I have one member labeled 22 reds, since I don’t know who laid what it would be nice to log multiples without them being generic to the flock.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2025-05-04, version 4.5.0*

This app has been a game changer for tracking all activity within my flocks! From eggs to sales to hatching to just random things going on. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Chicken version of a Pokédex

*2025-04-29, version 4.4.0*

I love this app! I’ve had it for two years now. Makes my life super simple. Easy to track birds and I love the option to archive birds. I love being able to look back at prior birds for information.

### 5/5 — Truly the best app for chicken owners

*2025-04-19, version 4.4.0*

This app is unbelievable! It makes owning chickens and tracking so easy!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — 1 year price doubled lol

*2026-09-03, version 6.9.0*

Insane. I saw a review just now that was posted a year ago that it was $40/year and now it’s freaking 79.99… seriously? This is how you’re treating farmers in this economy? Cool cool cool.

### 1/5 — Not free

*2026-03-24, version 6.2.0*

Cant even get into the app without making a login and signing up for a trial/subscription I’ll keep us in the lite version

### 1/5 — Free app but requires subscription immediately

*2025-04-29, version 4.5.0*

Can download as a free app but requires you to set up an account and subscribe immediately to be able to use.

### 1/5 — Way too much $$$

*2025-03-27, version 4.3.1*

I really wanted to try this app cause I saw a group on Facebook talking about it. The price is $40 for a year. That’s way to much for a chicken app!

### 1/5 — Wow nvm

*2025-02-27, version 4.2.0*

Update: wow just got charged 8.99 when it said subscription was 2.99 a week unbelievable. Cancelled and deleted f that. Idc how good this app is.

just got chickens and I love the layout and I don’t mind paying 2.99 for sub

### 1/5 — Greedy

*2024-05-01, version 3.0.5*

Would have given You a five as I’ve been with you a few years, but you are now forcing me to pay! So frustrating.

### 1/5 — Not a fan of the update

*2023-08-03, version 2.12.0*

Forgive me for my harshness. I just miss the simplicity and aesthetic of the old version.

### 1/5 — Not a fan of the update

*2023-08-01*

Don't think I’ve ever left a review on an app before but I feel compelled. I’ve been using Flockstar for over 2 years and when I saw a forced ‘upgrade’ being implemented, I feared and expected this would happen... I loved the simplicity and aesthetic of the old version. This one is just way too much, - it feels like it’s lost all it’s soul. At least in my perspective, someone with only a flock of 5…. I’m sure there’s good features added for the more business oriented people, but couldn’t they have just upgraded to a pro version if that’s what they wanted? Why abandon the former? Was ownership of this app sold to someone else because it doesn’t feel the same.

Also don’t like the way it was handled. Couldn’t close out the pop up notifications after logging an entry without force closing the app altogether, was very annoying. I’m sorry man, I’m sure you put a whole lot of effort into this. I don’t think anyone would’ve minded testing small updates out over time, but revamping the whole app to something so unrecognizable was a mistake, imo. It’s no different than all the other ones out there now. I’m so disappointed because I’ve been on Flockstar multiple times daily for years, now I don’t even want to open it. I hope you can somehow restore that simplicity and aesthetic again, if not, I can’t see me adjusting. I rather just use paper and pencil, or a calendar for that matter. Thanks for the old version though, it was a good run.

### 1/5 — Too complicated

*2023-06-27, version 2.10.0*

I do not like this as well as the original “lite” version. It’s a lot more complex than what I would like. Should have left well enough alone.

### 1/5 — Not a free app!

*2023-01-06, version 2.0.4*

Advertised as free when searching in the App Store. Upon creating an account you are required to enter credit card info and choose a 99c monthly subscription or a yearly $9.99 subscription. I have no problem with paying for apps, but I have problems with advertising them as free. I won’t be trying this app, even with a “7 day free trial.”

**Developer response:** Hi, really sorry if you felt misled. The App Store search results and listing show a "Get" button with the In-App Purchases label, like all subscription-based apps. In the description I disclose that a subscription is required. I will move that line up to the top of the description with the next update. Again, my apologies if it was not clear enough. I hope you would reconsider trying it out, but I understand if not. ✌️

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — 👏🏻 👏🏻

*2026-03-10, version 6.2.0*

This app is everything my neurodivergent brain needs, and every update gives me options I didn’t even know I wanted to track/note. I could write an essay on how many things I love about this app, but you’d be better off just giving it a shot yourself, honestly. The paid version is entirely worth it if you’re *any* level of neurotic about your birds, like I am.
The ONLY “complaint” I can come up with is that I wish it were easier to add photos and that we could add more than three at a time, but that’s not even worth a drop in rating. 15/10 👏🏻

### 5/5 — I was a fan before they did the upgrades

*2026-02-17, version 6.1.0*

I love this app I had it when it was free and I don’t mind paying for all the new updates

### 5/5 — Amazing App!

*2026-01-08, version 5.2.0*

This app has been the best. It helps me manage and keep track of all my flocks— my backyard laying flocks and my breeding flocks!

### 5/5 — Chicken math meets organization

*2025-12-29, version 5.2.0*

We’ve been loving the Flockstar app—especially with the newest update. It just keeps getting better, and honestly, now is the time to jump in. Pricing goes up at the beginning of January, so if you’ve been on the fence, this is your sign.

We use it daily to manage our flock, breeding groups, hatches, and records, and it has completely replaced notebooks and scattered notes for us.

The only thing we’d love to see added is a way to import existing records via a CSV file when getting started—but even without that, Flockstar has become an essential part of our everyday farm routine.

### 5/5 — Impressive and very useful

*2025-12-18, version 5.1.2*

This app is exactly what i’ve been looking for in order to keep track of my chickens at all stages of their lives. It’s honestly quite impressive how well designed and easy it is to use this app and it seems very well maintained. The web app and cloud sync are also life savers.

### 5/5 — great app

*2025-12-04, version 5.0.0*

Love the app. The new hatch tracker is a great addition.

### 5/5 — Hands Down the Best Tool for Backyard Chicken and Quail Keepers

*2025-12-01, version 5.1.0*

This isn’t just an egg counter. I can effortlessly track everything: individual hen production, average egg weight, fertility rates on hatching runs, full financial expenses and sales by flock l, and detailed health notes for every single bird. The depth of data is professional-grade, but the input process is totally casual.

### 5/5 — Love it but …

*2025-11-21*

Flockstar is an outstanding app for managing a flock, and I highly recommend it to anyone serious about poultry keeping. It is easily the best digital flock management tool I have used.
What I Love:
• User-Friendly Design: The interface is clean, intuitive, and makes tracking health records, egg production, and expenses remarkably simple.
• The Desktop Version: Having a fully-functional desktop version is a huge benefit. It allows for detailed data entry and analysis on a larger screen, which is essential for larger or complex flocks. This seamless sync between mobile and desktop is a major selling point!
• Comprehensive Tracking: The ability to log everything from medical treatments to feed consumption has been invaluable for optimizing the health and productivity of my birds.
Suggested Improvement:
The only feature I wish could be streamlined is the process for adding newly hatched chicks.
• Automation for Hatching: I would love it if there was an option for chicks that hatch (after logging the hatch date/count) to be automatically added as new entries in a designated "Chick" flock or directly into the main flock, rather than needing to manually create each new bird entry. This would be a massive time-saver during hatching season!
In conclusion, Flockstar is an essential tool for the modern chicken keeper. It's a fantastic app that brings organization and efficiency to the coop.

### 5/5 — Absolutely Amazing app!

*2025-11-21, version 5.0.0*

This is our go to for all things logging for our exhibition silkies and duccles. We love this app and highly recommend!!

### 5/5 — Best

*2025-10-01, version 4.13*

Best app available for tracking your flock and production!
