### 2/5 — Loss of information???

*2024-08-06*

I loved this app, always where I went for storm info. As of Sept 1, 2022 I can’t get anything???? Just in time for peak hurricane season. Perfect timing 🙄

### 2/5 — Loss of information???

*2022-09-23, version 6.8.0*

Just in time for peak hurricane season. Perfect timing 🙄

### 2/5 — Slipping…

*2022-09-04*

This app used to be my go to weather app for Florida. Over the past year the tropical weather page has become very buggy and unresponsive. Figured it was just a glitch between updates, but it keeps getting worse to the point that hurricane mapping for storms doesn’t even load.

### 2/5 — Old

*2020-10-11*

App is rarely updated.

### 2/5 — Used to be great

*2019-05-14*

Was great, 5 stars, until the radar stopped playing. I used to use this to see about how fast a storm was moving and in which direction. Now it’s almost useless to me. Please fix!

### 2/5 — Live radar

*2019-05-05*

Like another user stated live radar stopped working. When live/future radar worked it was a great app for keeping up to date during storms and hurricane season. Would love to have all features functioning for the coming season.

### 3/5 — Tiny & Why..

*2018-10-24*

Why for the iPhone and not the iPad? Phone size in tiny box on bigger screen.

And worse only 50% of screen shows a map.....rest is too big header and way too big footer w/local temp info.

The concept of a FL weather app is good given its “in the bullseye geography”, but this needs much more thought.

### 3/5 — Location tracking bummer

*2017-09-06*

Nice to see radar, and listen to my local radio station. I hate that the location tracking feature choices are only ALWAYS or NEVER. Most of my apps that need a location offer an option of ONLY WHEN USING APP and this is what I always choose. I don't need or want any apps killing my battery life by constantly polling my location when I'm not using them, only when I'm using the app. Since this app doesn't offer that my only choice is to select NEVER which sort of defeats usability features of this app.

### 4/5 — Works Great with One Exception

*2017-06-24, version 2.0.8*

When location is turned to Always and my local radar (Melbourne) is selected the Melbourne radar appears for about a minute, then the current location icon turns grey and the local radar turns back to the default (Jacksonville).

This only occurs on iPad.

### 2/5 — Notifies but radar and map problem

*2016-12-06, version 2.0.1*

Wrote a review in August. Four months later, same problems! I get notifications when lightening, thunder, storms are nearby. When I open the app, the map rarely loads over the city I'm in. The radar shows the map the same way. Many times, it either doesn't play, or it's playing up to half an hour ago. Not recent. Worked for a while after last update. Problems are all back again.

### 2/5 — Radar Hardly Works

*2016-06-10, version 1.3*

The app is handy in some ways. It gives a very accurate account if lightening is in your area. Don't use it for radar tho. It usually never loads and when you try to play the animation it just sits there. Could be a good app, but needs lots of work

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Use to be great

*2022-09-24*

This was a great app years ago. Not sure what happened, but the “what we’re watching” stopped working and no longer do you see Hurrican trajectory. Developer please fix this as this app was literally a life saver.

### 1/5 — What a joke!

*2022-04-26*

They only update this thing when it's convenient. Sad use of state funds.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2020-07-03*

Unusable because it crashes before it can even load.

### 1/5 — Alerts do not work

*2019-09-03*

Alert feature is broke.

### 1/5 — You get what you pay for

*2019-09-01*

This app cost nothing and that’s what it’s worth. Does nothing. Shows nothing.

### 1/5 — Worthless App

*2019-08-19*

Aborts on iPhone 6S. Piece of crap. Now aborts on iPad. Should be debugged before release.

### 1/5 — A real battery killer

*2017-06-27, version 2.0.8*

This app constantly runs your GPS, even when it's not in use, greatly reducing your battery life. There's no need for such a design.

### 1/5 — Undependable

*2016-08-07, version 1.3.2*

When I load this app it's very slow and half the time such as today, it's raining all around with storm warnings. This app shows clear skies all over. The tornado boxes pop up but the map shows all clear.

### 1/5 — Don't download

*2016-04-15, version 1.2*

First, you must sign away your life to a TOS contract then the app can't figure out where you are (I'm in Florida not Africa) and it doesn't give you the weather where you are. Non stop advertising ruins everything. Don't bother downloading. Deleted

### 1/5 — Privacy and battery life please!

*2016-04-12, version 1.2*

Another app that requires ALWAYS ON location sharing, instead of while using the app ... Which means you get to follow me around the country and while draining down my battery in the process and eating up some of my limited data.
Feeds and stations show up blank, likely due to me opting out of location sharing.
There should be a manual location option as well as on demand WHILE USING.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The Best

*2026-04-07, version 7.1.0*

For local thunderstorm activity and especially emergency information during hurricane season this is an excellent app. Fast to load with a very clear and understandable radar graphic. It is possible to have weather warnings depicted and alerts sent to your phone. Excellent depiction of the hurricane forecast track.
(My small criticism is that you cannot option off the future radar added to the loop.)
If I only had one weather app, it would be this one.

### 5/5 — Great weather app

*2025-09-17*

Very pleased with this weather app. It’s great that it shows the lighting and will give you alerts when lighting is within the area that you specify. Radar is clear and easy to read. I also really like the “storm direction “ feature!!

### 5/5 — Awesome little app

*2023-08-05*

Has no ads, made by a university, instant warning notifications, lightning detector, and a bunch of other neat and useful features.

### 5/5 — Great program

*2020-04-12*

Best free radar type program I’ve seen. Besides free and no ads, it has worked wherever I’ve traveled: GA, SC, NC, VA, and always shows wx that’s going on around me. I recommend it.

### 5/5 — My “go to” weather app living in Florida

*2019-09-02*

Excellent app, and as it is Florida Public Radio, no adds.

This is good for everyday thunderstorms, but ..excellent.. for hurricane season. Overlays show forecast track, warning areas, etc. Easy to access evacuation info, zones and checklist.

All the information you need is here and easy to find. Living through Hurricane Dorian’s approach as a CAT 5, this has been invaluable.

### 5/5 — Fixed

*2019-08-26, version 3.0.2*

My go to weather app living in Florida!

Once again an excellent app.
Sadly it was unusable on iPad for awhile. Now it works.

This gives excellent information with very good graphics. From afternoon storms, to hurricane tracks, to evacuation information, this app takes care of minor or major weather events. As it is an NPR app, advertising is not a problem.

### 5/5 — Wonderful app

*2019-08-24*

Thank you so much for the update on this app.

It takes a while to get used to the new design but once you do it is back to being really useful.

Please keep the bug fixes coming.

### 5/5 — Latest Update - Excellent

*2019-08-11*

Been using this app for a few years. The latest update has made this my go-to for weather radar, current conditions, and forecast. Nicely done and free! Some have reported battery life issue. As with any app, adjust settings. Set your location settings to “while using” instead of “always”. Also turn off background app refresh. This will help battery life as with any app.
Excellent app, I recommend it.

### 5/5 — Great App, no annoying advertising

*2018-04-22*

Everything seems to work pretty good with this app and no annoying ads. Only one thing I found as a negative is that it didn’t keep up with my location that well to warn me of incoming storms. While another app I have warned me, this one did not (and both seem to use the same “Safety Net Alerts” settings setup). Also, I don’t know if this is an app issue or my phone, but for some reason my phone gets really hot temp wise when I use this for more than a few minutes.

### 4/5 — Very good app

*2026-05-04*

The bad: Recently a “future radar” was added. This is often not a good prediction especially near the coastline.
This should have an option to select off which most weather apps have, whether or not it improves. Please give us that option!!!

H the good: For local thunderstorm activity and especially emergency information during hurricane season this is an excellent app. Fast to load with a very clear and understandable radar graphic. It is possible to have weather warnings depicted and alerts sent to your phone. Excellent depiction of the hurricane forecast track.
If I could only had one weather app, it would be this one.
