## Newest reviews (10 of 30)

### 2/5 — Ummmm

*2026-03-13, version 1.2.8*

Ok so i think this one is bad i mean its so hard and i like the old one better

### 2/5 — vsd files not recognised

*2025-12-24, version 1.2.36*

I bought this to use vsd files but when I try to import them the files are not recognised

### 2/5 — Started off hopeful........but

*2025-11-30, version 1.2.7*

Wasted time. Could do basic flow chart

### 2/5 — Disappointing

*2025-03-13, version 1.2.18*

I thought this would be a step forward from V3. But it has an annoying tips window that follows you around like a stray dog and, worst of all, it won’t let you either print or export to pdf or Adobe pdf formats. Useless to commercial users if you can’t do that!

### 3/5 — It Does The Basics

*2025-01-15, version 1.2.18*

I’m a business analyst, and I normally use Microsoft Visio to quickly flowchart workflows, processes, procedures, systems, and events. Flowchart Designer 5 handles the basics, but it is much slower, as in displaying one letter from a typed word every second. Then I have to save my work and reopen it to get normal speed. Also, it is more difficult to align shapes, draw connectors, and format the individual words inside a shape. With Flowchart Designer 5, all the text in a shape gets the same format (alignment, color, etc.). Visio costs only $5 per month, and for that I get very functional mature charting tool that allows me to quickly create charts as I interview end users (I create charts instead of taking notes). Flowchart Designer 5 isn’t bad for basic charts, but for what I do, I’m going back to Visio.

### 2/5 — Very Difficult to use

*2024-11-24, version 1.2.18*

It looks as though it is full of lovely features. But I found it very difficult to use, especially drawing arrows between objects, It seemed to me (I may wrong) That you could only 1 arrow into an object and one arrow2 out and the arrow out had to be on the side with most space. I couldn’t get it to work for me so I gave up.

### 2/5 — Worse bugs than before

*2024-09-02, version 1.2.12*

Numerous times I've had this tell me I don't have the in-app "standard edition" purchase, which interrupts my flow as I go and "restore purchases".

I've had issues where all templates appear blank for minutes on launch.

I've also had a situation where it immediately cancels editing text in a shape, making it impossible to use for anything.

Copying and pasting into another app still results in some weirdness around how shapes are handled (some outlines/ fills don't work correctly, but at least now linking lines that are on the outermost part of the image arent cropped).

I'm not really seeing any benefits in upgrading from 3.x at the moment, just more bugs to try and work around.

### 2/5 — Made to pay for features again

*2024-08-22, version 1.2.10*

They offered this version as a free download but to be able to use it properly, you need to pay 9.99 to unlock features already paid for.

Cant open a 5 version of doc in 3 version and cant copy and paste over as it locks the image. Ive spent ages creating a flow but come to edit it, i cant use any features.
Cant copy is back to the old version so have to do it all again.

### 3/5 — Cant go landscape

*2024-07-11, version 1.2.9*

just cant

### 2/5 — Flow Designer 3 is better

*2024-07-09, version 1.2.9*

I not highly compatible with the 3 version and the UX in the 3 is better in my point of view

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — It won’t print on my Mac.

*2026-03-21, version 1.3.4*

When I click on “print” in the print dialog, nothing happens. It appears that this is a common problem. Ver 3 will print correctly, but not 5.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2026-01-15*

I really wanted to like this application, but I’m running into a shape layout issue. After placing shapes and switching to the connection tool, I no longer have the ability to move existing shapes within the document—this is even after reselecting the pointer tool. Any attempt to reposition a shape instead creates a new arrow connection. This issue makes it impossible to clean up a diagram or make the layout changes. Without this ability the application is just not usable enough to be useful. I would be more than happy to update my review once this issue is addressed.

### 1/5 — Not backwards compatible

*2025-06-08, version 1.2.22*

I recently installed version 5 but I can’t open any files I made with Flowchart Designer 3 (which uses .drawing files).

### 1/5 — scammer

*2024-09-30, version 1.2.13*

Not a free version and try version, as soon as start new document , ask to pay first . uninstall ASAP

### 1/5 — Cannot Purchase

*2024-09-04, version 1.2.12*

I try to unlock the features by paying $9.99 but the app says "Your purchase could not be verified by the App Store"

### 1/5 — Lacks options

*2024-08-07, version 1.2.10*

Own the flow chart 3, had to buy the new upgrade. there are no options from m to feet and inches. No easy way to change the page layout. the help guide is not helpful either

### 1/5 — JUST DOESN'T WORK

*2024-06-28, version 1.2.6*

I have been using Flowchart Designer 3 and liked it very much. I was looking forward to Flowchart Designer 5. But I just couldn't get it to work for me. This is just some of the problems: When I safed a chart and re-opend it, the text I had in bold face was back to regular. When I tried to move text, sometimes it just wouldn't move. If I put text in a box, it would go out of the box in a single line, instead of making multiple lines. If I made it multiple-lined by changing the shape of the text box, when I moved the text, it would go back to a single line. When I double clicked inside a box to add text and then added the text, if i moved the box, the text would not move with the box it was supposed to be contained in. I finally gave up and when back to using Flowchart Designer 3. In it, I was able to make my chart much more quickly and everything worked. The only negative, is there were not as many box shapes available. (I used the free verstion.) I don't know what is wrong with the program, but the makers definitely need to fix it.

### 1/5 — A Complete Ripoff

*2024-06-17, version 1.2.6*

I purchased Flowchart Designer 3 and then was advised about Flowchart Designer 5 when I tried to open an existing diagram I had made.

ALL OF YOUR OLD V3 DIAGRAMS ARE USELESS! They will NOT open they are incompatible!! To add insult rto injury any other APP that upgrades is no charge to exising subscribers but that is NOT the case here. You have to purchase a new license!!!!

What app does these things? The answer is NONE. DO NOT BUY THIS APP.

### 2/5 — not quite…

*2026-05-31, version 1.2.8*

I’m always grateful for well designed easy to use free apps. This is a nice effort, when it works.

When it does work it’s easy to use, relatively intuitive, smooth and responsive. Ive found I can quickly build up flow charts with interconnects.

However it frequently locks up/freezes, with no way of recovering. Closing the app completely and restarting, with loss of work seems to be the only way to get it going again. This alone renders the app un-usable. Which is very unfortunate.

Some menus are in Japanese. I haven’t managed to find an option or setting to switch languages.

I’ll keep checking back for updates. But until the crash problem is fixed it’s not usable.

### 2/5 — More like downgraded

*2026-03-23, version 1.2.8*

Needs a lot of work. Performance issues. Language issues. Menu issues. Just issues every where.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The best

*2025-12-25, version 1.2.8*

The best, it is not even close.

### 5/5 — Great Tool

*2025-07-12, version 1.2.23*

Flowchart 5 is easy to use! I picked up on using it immediately and it worked well

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2025-05-22, version 1.2.21*

I have no idea what could be done to make this better.

### 5/5 — Easy to learn and effective

*2025-03-24, version 1.2.18*

This is much better than trying to do it in Keynote. Auto-connect feature makes it easy to join boxes/shapes together. Very low one-time cost (Cdn$13) is worth it.

### 5/5 — Previous version files don't get converted

*2024-09-19, version 1.2.13*

I tired a lot to import version 3 files in version 5 but when I try to save it as later version, program crashes. It doesn't save the previous vesion files to latest versions

### 4/5 — Used for FSD

*2026-01-20, version 1.3.1*

I use this program to create finite state diagrams. This tool works well for that purpose. My only complaint is that I cannot attach an arrow to the initial state shape found in the UML State Machine shapes section in Flowchart Designer 5.

### 4/5 — Good basic app

*2025-02-05, version 1.2.18*

Not bad for a basic flowchart app. Would prefer more traditional flowchart boxes/containers, but can work with what’s here. Easy to use. Hoping for more like Visio, but this does do the trick. Some options on page size would be nice.

### 3/5 — Can’t adjust page sizes

*2026-06-04, version 1.3.6*

In Page Setup, for a blank document or template it is impossible to set to landscape from portrait. If you want a landscape orientation, you have to open a template that already has a landscape orientation, delete its contents, and start from there.

### 3/5 — Good for OTB

*2026-05-25, version 1.3.6*

This is a great way to escape all of the subscriptions. My only real complaint is that the TEXT tools are so slow during input. It lags by at least 3-4 to complete a single sentence. It’s hard to rate any higher until that is fixed.

### 3/5 — Works pretty well but the CPU usage is kind of extreme

*2025-03-28, version 1.2.19*

Starts lagging really hard when I'm editing text boxes. CPU usage jumped to 93%.
