You guys have taken us all Back to the Future...Thank you!!! ### 5/5 — Retro 8 bit video magic returns! *2012-03-28, version 1.0.1* If you were around or aware back in the days of the first 8 bit color Macintosh II, there was an amazing little program that took full advantage of the relatively limited 8 bit 256 color video capabilities. While flying toasters and hyperdrive powered star-field simulators dominated idle screens, FlowFazer emerged as an amazing achievement utilizing a unique pattern generator and the mac II's ability to cycle palette colors, resulting in something incredibly fluid and unlike anything else ever seen on a computer screen... it was simply mind blowing. These days we have IOS devices that can create amazing 3 dimensional swirling, exploding, chaotic and amazing visual effects no doubt. But, IMHO nothing moves quite like this app faithfully brought to you by the original author. While you may wish to touch and interact with the pattern itself, touch the screen to experiment with combination of the original settings and carefully crafted 256 color palettes. Also - takes full advantage of ipad 3rd gen graphics power. Simply put. Shades of the chosen palette meld smoothly over a complex field of knots, flowing until the viewer is fazed. Some high-contrast palettes render fascinating moiré patterns that play across the screen. Experimentation with various combinations of settings can lead to a heightened state of awareness. You won't be sorry! ### 5/5 — The KING of eye candy is BACK! *2012-03-12, version 1.0* The last quarter century of my life, I have played many roles in the technology world, but the one area that has consistently fascinated me are software tools to express creativity – from the original MacPaint and MacDraw, to the reign of Photoshop, I have seen and worked with more interesting programs used to make cool images and sounds than I can even reasonably remember. Of all the wacky, wild stuff that crossed my desk, I can indeed tell you that one program that landed on my Mac II, Flowfazer, had an impact like little else, and I have many fond memories of staring into a 13” Apple color monitor with my eyeballs twitching out of their sockets, falling into the smooth, hypnotic trance induced by the creative minds of David Levine and Todd Rundgren. When it comes to screen savers, Flying Toasters may have won many branding battles, but Flowfazer was the ultimate cool cat, and the idea that I can enjoy it again on an iPad – for a dollar! – makes me happier than passionfruit pie. Like a long lost dream come back into sharp focus, Flowfazer is the ultimate iPad visual toy. Whether you’re an old Machead, or a newly-minted iPad owner, you need this app yesterday. Loved the original and I love this one. That said, it would be great if it could support different display ratios, and a Mac version would be great too. (I still love this!) I can’t believe I can carry around Karateka and Flowfazer on my iPhone and iPad. I remember when this came out and I could run it on my MacLC because of the coding wizardry of simply color cycling through a static image! I love to listen to music on my iPad while Flowfazer is doing it’s thing. Would be truly awesome if volume, pause / play, and next track buttons or guestures were built in to this App!
