### 3/5 — Annoying

*2025-05-22, version 2.7.1*

It would help if you had clear direction on where to purchase the extra lessons, it’s almost like you don’t want people to buy your service.

### 3/5 — Slipped through the cracks

*2024-11-17, version 2.7.1*

I have not used the app in about 5 years. It is a great and well thought out learning tool. However, preparing for a trip to Spain, the app opens to the splash page and crashes in a few seconds. The “App Support”link here in the Store is a 404 error.
For having spent four figures over the years with Fluenz, I am disappointed. Sonia et al, please take a look.

### 2/5 — Subtitles in Wrong Language

*2024-10-06, version 2.7.0*

I have used the app in the past and have enjoyed it. I am traveling this January and decided to redo some of the Fluenz lessons to brush up on my Spanish. Unfortunately, the subtitles were in French, not Spanish. I know enough French to realize that the translations were not accurate (va a almorzar isn’t cette train arrive…….) Very disappointing

### 2/5 — Match the Phrases section issue

*2024-09-26, version 2.7.0*

It was working fine until recently match the phrases section right side section show empty box (english version of phrases). I cannot match phrases if cannot see them.

### 5/5 — Well worth it!

*2024-03-12*

The Fluenz software has just the right amount of repetition and new material to keep things flowing and one confident of their progress. It is well organized and intuitive with attractive graphics. Over the years I have purchased and worked with a number of the other big names in language (Pimsleur, Duolingo, Rosetta Stone, to name a few). Though the others are also very good, I feel I have learned much more consistently and continue to enjoy the process with Fluenz. Highly recommend giving Fluenz a try.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your positive feedback! It's fantastic to know that despite trying other language programs, you've found Fluenz to be consistently effective and enjoyable. We truly appreciate your recommendation and encourage others to give Fluenz a try. If you ever need assistance or have any questions, we're here to help. Happy learning with Fluenz!

### 5/5 — Great lessons and great company

*2024-03-05*

I really like the methodology Fluenz uses in their lessons. It feels much more personal, and the grammar lessons are structured in a much better way than other language learning apps. I also do the Fluenz in person immersions and zoom lessons, which the software lessons compliment perfectly. The combination of all three has proven highly effective for me!

**Developer response:** Thanks for sharing! We're glad you're enjoying Fluenz's personalized approach and structured grammar lessons. It's awesome that you find the combination of software lessons, in-person immersions, and Zoom sessions effective. Keep up the great work!

### 5/5 — Best program available

*2024-02-22*

I bought Rosetta Stone and Fluenz at the same time. However, I only use Fluenz now because the program actually explains why verbs have different endings and has plenty of practice using the different sections delegated to life situations. In my opinion the other programs lacked this. Also, the program states they use Spanish that is familiar to South America and Spain and leave out slang so you can be understood in both places which I never realized could be an issue. Anyways if you want a great program that will stick with, Fluenz is the program. My other programs just gather dust

**Developer response:** Thanks for sharing your experience! We're glad to hear Fluenz has been a standout choice for you. We focus on practical learning and clarity, aiming to make language learning enjoyable and effective. It's awesome to know you've found our approach helpful. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out. Keep up the great work with Fluenz!

### 5/5 — The best language learning program ever!

*2024-02-22, version 2.6.4*

I bought Fluenz French 1 & 2 right before leaving for a 3 month exchange in Paris in 2008. Over the course of a month, I was able to bring my French up to enough competence (having started at zero) to be able to order coffee, buy metro tickets and be able to function in a city. Without Fluenz, I would not have had the confidence to then continue my education in French where I was able to then advance to a B2 level. Over the covid lockdowns, Fluenz Spanish helped me get enough of a knowledge of Spanish to be able to then travel to Spain and manage autonomously (more or less).

Fluenz is not for everyone as it relies on the old maxim that practice makes perfect. However, I will say that it was exactly what I was looking for and it changed my life.

### 5/5 — Excellent - This is a must!

*2024-02-21, version 2.6.4*

If you want to learn Spanish, you want Fluenz. Sonia is a fantastic teacher and the way the language is taught here is brilliant. It is ideal for an English speaker who is an adult. I’m only at the end of level one (there are five levels) and I already remember - and use - more Spanish than I ever have before.

### 5/5 — Ready for real conversations

*2024-02-18*

This program is different from the game based language apps. It teaches the grammar needed to communicate and to be understood. For every hour invested, my language skills improved significantly. For those serious about learning Spanish, this is the program that I recommend. I still play with the other game based language apps, but my real learning was with Fluenz.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We're very happy to hear that Fluenz has been instrumental in improving your language skills. It's our mission to provide a comprehensive approach to language learning, focusing on grammar and communication, to ensure our users feel confident in their abilities. We're delighted to be your top recommendation for serious Spanish learners. Keep up the great work, and don't hesitate to reach out at usersupport@fluenz.com if you need any further assistance on your language journey!

### 4/5 — Great format & explanations, needs a few corrections in each lesson

*2024-02-16, version 2.6.4*

Update 2-2024: I’ve used this app for a while now and I still really like it. I liked switching to the “challenge” mode after I became more proficient in the language. A suggestion for improvement - have the developers go through each and every lesson to check for accuracy. I have found errors in almost every lesson and level. There are also a few places it will freeze up if you type in the wrong answer.

I really like this program and how it’s set up. It is great to hear native (I assume) French speakers and that they don’t speak too quickly. Also, I really like that they are REAL people speaking (thus far) and not cartoon voices. It’s great when Sophie breaks down the sentences and explains the intricacies. I LOVE that Fluenz isn’t a competition between others who are learning. I had a year of that with Duolingo and while I learned a lot from that app, I became tired of the competitiveness as well as the cartoon voices that appeared later in the sessions. Some suggestions for Fluenz improvement: 1 - It would be nice to be able to report problems that occur in the session, but there doesn’t seem to be an option. Maybe I missed it. I tried to send a message via the Fluenze support website but it wouldn’t work. The section where you record your own voice doesn’t appear to work on the iPad. 2 - You are taught several ways to ask a question, but when you are supposed to write it in French from the English sentence, sometimes only one version is correct and you have to guess which one. Example: using Est-ce que versus just putting a ? at the end of the sentence.

### 5/5 — Exceptional

*2024-02-01, version 2.6.4*

The Fluenz Program offers the basics with the added and necessary benefit of explaining the “the why”. My Spanish skills skyrocketed once I found this app.

### 5/5 — Best program to progress towards fluency

*2024-01-29*

I have tried most of the language learning softwares and although they all have some positives, for me, Fluenz has been the best.
I am making real progress and , for the first time, I have the courage to speak to other Spanish speakers. The introduction of new material alongside reviewing what has come before is the best.
Highly recommend this program.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your kind words. We hope the next review is in the language you are learning!! :)

### 5/5 — Great App

*2024-01-29*

Fluenz is very different from other apps I have used. I started out with all the usual ones and felt like I was not progressing. I like the pacing and the format. I think the video explanations are fantastic. I'm finally starting to understand how to use "ser" and "estar"!! Gracias, Fluenz team. (I saw in the Fluenz community that the Fluenz team had asked for folks to post reviews, and so here I am. They have been very responsive on customer support, and I feel like it is a team that really cares about language learning, hence my review).

**Developer response:** Thank you much. We are always available via customer support.

### 5/5 — My experience

*2024-01-24*

I wanted to share my recent experience with Fluenz after the latest updates. The user experience has significantly improved, especially when downloading sessions—the navigation is now incredibly smooth and easy.

I love this program! The enhancements have made language learning even more enjoyable and efficient. Kudos to the Fluenz team for their commitment to improvement. Highly recommend!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much Santa, you made our day at the FluenzLab!

### 5/5 — I am learning

*2024-01-19, version 2.6.3*

This app is helping me learn Spanish. Each section takes an hour or so. It is work, but I can tell it is helping me progress in learning Spanish.

### 5/5 — Thorough and concise

*2023-09-08, version 2.6.3*

I’ve used Fluenz for years now for both Spanish and French. I highly recommend as it is very concise and thorough, giving you new rules and words with each lesson, as well as plenty of exercises to practice and cement what you learn. It’s step by step and very well thought out. I use it alongside listening programs, such as Michel Thomas, to get my ear more attuned to the language.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2023-08-18, version 2.6.3*

Used it for Italian and Spanish. It worked! I could even understand directions.
Came back to it rice over years, still had access.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Crash City

*2023-11-14, version 2.6.3*

Won’t even open. What a bummer, cause I really like Sonia and her teaching method, but I find myself using language apps on my phone more than on my desktop. Please fix this Fluenz team.

### 1/5 — Audio playback of my practice had volume issue

*2023-08-17, version 2.6.3*

I am trying to get help. I followed the link and got 404 error. When I do the speaking exercises my voice plays back so quietly I can’t hear it. I have checked other apps and no microphone or speaker issue . Where is your support ?

### 1/5 — App Freezes

*2023-04-11, version 2.6.2*

Lessons are great, the app is horrendous though. Constantly freezes.

### 1/5 — Latest update is a fail

*2023-03-21, version 2.6.2*

Images in downloaded lessons now disappear and you must constantly redownload lessons. Please fix this.

### 1/5 — Such promise, but sooooo disappointing

*2022-10-19, version 2.5.2*

The approach of this app was just what I was looking for - actually explaining how the language works. But for such an expensive app, the implementation and interface are woeful. Eg -

* if you exit a lesson, it doesn’t remember where you were up to so you have to scroll forward through every stage to get back to where you were before (ok, I’ve figured out you can do this by backing out an extra step and using the “latest activity” option, but this is not obvious, and it remains that there is no simple way to jump to different parts of a lesson. )
* can’t proceed in the talk workout. I record my voice, play it back, but then what? Nothing happens. The only option is to skip the “talk” section completely.
* it’s possible I missed something in the intro that explained the interface, but it didn’t work correctly either so I didn’t really get anything from that (although I did figure out I could replay it and I did get through it, but even this has issues. There is nothing that indicates you have reached the end of the intro, and even the “done” option at the top (which is displayed on each screen of the intro, si no, it is not an indication of having finished the intro) doesn’t work well and takes many taps to actually work)
* so, I’ve figured out that I can press the “play” button to go to the next “talk” item - but, that button is not highlighted, so it doesn’t look like it should work (and it shouldn’t if it’s meant to be inactive), and nothing is being shown that evaluates my pronunciation, so what is the point of this at all?

If you’ve read all that, notice how many times I’ve said I “figured out”! The point is that each thing on its own is small, but overall add up to a frustrating experience for something they are wanting a LOT of money for.

### 1/5 — Ridiculous

*2020-06-25, version 2.3.0*

The app freezes and shuts down. Nothing will play.

### 1/5 — Outdated

*2020-06-13, version 2.3.0*

In the into video as soon as she started to talk about grammar, you know it’s outdated and doesn’t work unless you’re a geek that likes grammar. Pro tip language is meant to be spoken, not analysed. Save your $ and use a mass sentence repetition system. You learn as you go.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2019-11-18, version 2.2.1*

If I cant download the lessons and use this on the plane it is useless. Dumb app.

### 1/5 — App won’t let me sign in

*2019-05-06, version 2.0.0*

I recently learned I could use Fluenz on my IPad when I travel. It just recently advised me that I have too many devices. My only access is from my laptop. I tried removing the app and starting over, but it will not let me get past the sign in....Help!!!!!

### 1/5 — Wonderful content you often can’t use sue to bigs

*2019-05-05, version 2.0.0*

So I spit out the $300 for Fluenz Italian and love the content but the app (on multiple devices, website and program are so plagued with bugs: crashes, no sound, no video etc) the system is barely usable. What a pity.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Outstanding

*2026-01-18, version 2.7.1*

I have used the Italian All Levels. The method is logical. They did a very good job with this product. A bit expensive - however - well worth it.

### 5/5 — Simply the best language learning tool.

*2025-02-12*

I’ve been using Fluenz for years. It’s the most comprehensive and easy to use language learning app out there. It brings together so many different modalities - reading, writing, speaking, and especially the instructor-lead sessions. And, their customer service is A+. Simply couldn’t be happier.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your kind words! We're so glad Fluenz has been a valuable tool for you. We’re proud to offer a comprehensive experience and great customer service. Thanks for being part of the Fluenz community! 😊

### 5/5 — Excellent way to learn a language

*2025-01-28, version 2.7.1*

I have been using Fluenz for years and find it incredibly helpful. it really is possible to learn a language using Fluenz. I have found it very helpful for learning both Spanish and French. The tutorials are particularly helpful to learn grammar. The makers of the program have worked hard to make it an interesting way to learn a language online.

### 5/5 — MERCI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*2024-12-21*

I remember when I first got Fluenz French on a big stack of discs in a shiny red box back in 2012. I can’t remember if it was $400 or $500 back then, but I do remember thinking— a year or two later when I finally finished every lesson in the program, also taking notes with pen & paper, just like in a classroom— that it was some of the best $400 or $500 I ever spent.

Now around a decade later & with some of my learning having slipped out over the years: it’s simply such a wonderful experience being able to review material on my phone, and for that I’m thankful to Fluenz once again : )

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! It’s amazing to hear about your journey with Fluenz from the early days to now, and we’re thrilled that the program had such a lasting impact. We completely agree—being able to revisit and review material at your convenience, especially on your phone, makes learning even more accessible. We’re so glad that Fluenz continues to be a valuable resource for you, even years later. We truly appreciate your continued trust in us, and we're excited to be part of your language learning experience! :)

### 5/5 — Best language program on the market

*2024-05-14*

I have used many language programs and taken classes over the years in my quest to learn Spanish. Fluenz is by far the best out there by FAR. I started with the app, which is robust and an amazing place to start. There are 5 levels and so much to learn within each level. As I made my way through the app, I realized Fluenz also does an immersion program in some amazing Spanish speaking locations so of course I had to try that out too and let me just say it was one of the most meaningful weeks of my life. From there I started the Zoom classes so that I can stay up to date and can continue using and learning Spanish. If you want to learn to speak Spanish and feel comfortable doing it, I highly recommend the Fluenz app and program. Every teacher is SUPERB and will help you build the confidence to get out there and actually speak.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your fantastic review! We're thrilled to hear that Fluenz has been the best language program for you. It's great that you enjoyed the app, the immersion experience, and our Zoom classes. We’re proud of our teachers and their ability to help build confidence. Your recommendation means a lot to us—wishing you continued success on your Spanish journey!

### 5/5 — The best way to learn!

*2024-05-03*

Fluenz software is easy to use and a fantastic way to learn. I’ve been using it since 2021 and my Spanish ability has improved immensely. The software requires me to speak and write in response to questions, which is very effective and reinforces what I am learning. It is by far the best language learning software out there. If I ever master Spanish, I’ll use Fluenz for my next language as well!

**Developer response:** Thank you for the wonderful feedback! We're so glad Fluenz has helped improve your Spanish, especially with the speaking and writing exercises. We appreciate your loyalty since 2021 and can't wait to support you with your next language once you master Spanish! Keep up the great work!

### 5/5 — Excellent Language Software

*2024-04-15*

I have been using Fluenz since 2009 when it came on CDs in a bright red box. I have used it several times to “cram” some basic French and Italian before a trip. Obviously that did not make me fluent, but a lesson a day for a month before traveling equipped me to get by for basic tourist needs.

I’ve used Fluenz Spanish much more, but off and on until last year, when I travelled to Mexico for an immersion course. Since then I have completed all 5 levels of the software. I can now communicate clearly in most situations. Not perfectly, but understandably.

As good as the software is, working with the coaches in person is even better if your time and budget allow.

**Developer response:** Thanks for sharing your experience with Fluenz! It's amazing to hear how it's been a part of your language learning journey since the CD days. It sounds like your dedication paid off, especially with your recent immersion course in Mexico. Keep up the great work!!

### 5/5 — Best Spanish Learning App

*2024-04-11*

I have been using Fluenz tutorials for the past 18 months and have made huge progress in learning the language. I knew no Spanish when I started and now I am a competent conversationalist and can even watch Spanish television. The lessons are very well structured with great review sessions and constant reinforcement. i did not have nearly as much success with either Duolingo or Babel. The Fluenz program is superb and worth the investment of time and money if you are serious about learning the language

**Developer response:** Wow, it's fantastic to hear about your progress with Fluenz! Becoming a competent conversationalist in just 18 months is quite an achievement. We're thrilled that our structured lessons and reinforcement helped you succeed where other platforms fell short. Keep up the great work, and thank you for choosing Fluenz for your language learning journey!

### 5/5 — really good explanations

*2024-03-26, version 2.6.4*

There are so many subtle understandings needed to grab ahold of another language and Sonya explains these so well (and so much more clearly than any other app I have used). I can highly recommend ththe Fluenz course and app.

### 5/5 — Amazing program

*2024-03-22*

My wife and I purchased the Fluenz software before it was software and on CDs. The CDs were really good but the newest version of the online software is exceptional. We also planned an immersion trip before the pandemic and Fluenz worked with us to delay it until our schedules finally allowed us to go. We have finally completed an immersion week in Mexico City and the experience could not have been better. The hotel, food, and cultural experiences were perfect. But most importantly the teachers far exceeded my expectations. Will be booking online sessions and another immersion for next year. Thank you Fluenz for building such a wonderful platform to learn Spanish.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Fluenz! We're really happy to hear that both the software and your immersion trip in Mexico City met and exceeded your expectations. It's wonderful to know that the hotel, food, cultural experiences, and especially our teachers, made your learning journey a great experience. We look forward to supporting your Spanish learning adventures with more online sessions and another immersion next year. Thanks again for choosing Fluenz and for your kind words. Happy learning!
