## Newest reviews (16 of 273)

### 4/5 — Not bad

*2026-07-27, version 1.2.2*

App works well I old version but works so no complaints

### 2/5 — Redo the UI

*2026-06-29, version 1.2.2*

It’s great to be able to control my light but this is the worst UI I have ever seen.

### 3/5 — Doesn’t contact to the new marine 4.0 lights. Another app is required 🤬

*2026-03-30, version 1.2.2*

Another app needed for the marine 4.0 lights. That new app is awful.

### 3/5 — Not user friendly.

*2025-12-24, version 1.2.2*

It would be nice if they would at least try and update this app to make it more user friendly. Clearly people aren’t satisfied with it. The lights are basic but get the job done. Will be upgrading soon.

### 1/5 — -1

*2025-11-07, version 1.2.2*

### 1/5 — Developer has abandoned this app

*2025-10-31, version 1.2.2*

Unfortunately, this app appears to be completely non-functional. I’m able to populate bluetooth devices but it won’t let me interact with any of the choices or let me connect to anything. It’s a shame to return an entire light just because the app doesn’t work, but these clowns made the light to be entirely dependent on the app. This will be my last time ever buying a Fluval product. You don’t “accidentally” abandon your app at an iOS 9 level of sophistication- WHILE you’re still selling your hardware. Greed plain and simple.

### 3/5 — Could be 5 stars

*2025-09-11, version 1.2.2*

Add more customization!!!

### 1/5 — No updates

*2025-08-20, version 1.2.2*

I have had this light for a few years for my tree frogs. When they stop working I will not be replacing them with this brand. They have not updated the app in quite some time. All of the reviews are spot on. Take your money elsewhere.

### 2/5 — Lacking features

*2025-08-19, version 1.2.2*

I got a Fluval Nano 3 for a 7.5g cube. I can manually set parameters after scouring forums for what settings to actually use. There are no presets and no suggested light tuning by the company that makes it. The app doesnt look anything like above screen shots. Minimal interface and clunky sliders.

### 4/5 — Pretty decent app

*2025-07-05, version 1.2.2*

I love my Fluval fish tank lights, and love that they slowly ramp on in the morning, and off in the evening. Cool that you can micro-adjust intensity, and very cool that you can control spectra individually. Not thrilled that it only does portrait view because the control dots are so small. This makes adjustments difficult on an iPhone. iPad is much easier because it has a bigger display. But why not enable landscape on an iPhone, since owners are far more likely to use it. Overall, four stars because 21st century magic, even if it is a little tedious.

### 1/5 — A bit useless..

*2025-04-10, version 1.2.2*

On I’ad text is so small it makes it unusable…

### 4/5 — Works really well

*2025-02-23, version 1.2.2*

It does what it needs to do. Easy to use on the whole. Only 4* because the time sliders aren't the best design for a small phone screen. The circles just overlap, particularly if the changes are too close in time, so identifying which is which and moving one is fiddly.

### 1/5 — Faulty connection to bluetooth

*2025-02-22, version 1.2.2*

Faulty connection to bluetooth. No matter what troubleshooting I do, the same Connect Failed appears. I know use it like a regular manual power on/power off light with all lights set to 100% which adds to copious amounts of algae.

### 1/5 — Needs UI/UX Improvements

*2025-02-16, version 1.2.2*

Overall the app functions, but the user interface definitely needs some work.

Like others have said, the word choice is confusing. Also some of the features are really hard to use. For example creating a custom schedule is very tricky because you have to use a slider to set the times instead of just being able to enter in the time via a text input or a select menu type thing. Super frustrating.

The app also does not see regular updates, so it’s likely using deprecated code and outdated third party libraries with security vulnerabilities and such.

### 1/5 — Worst light app

*2025-02-16, version 1.2.2*

I have used multiple light apps and this is by far the worst one I have ever used to the point that it makes me want to return the light and go with someone else because it is so bad. Fluval you need to get your stuff right because this is garbage.

### 1/5 — Not good so far!

*2025-02-15, version 1.2.2*

Purchased Fluval Siena and tried to get lights connected , so far managed to get one work eventually, but other keeps going on and off Bluetooth with error connected but timed out.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Stupid

*2026-08-15, version 1.2.2*

Why are these lights so damn expensive when the only way to change the color is via an app that will not work? (I have tried 30 times at this point)

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-06-03, version 1.2.2*

I was really hoping that this would be much better than the standalone remote control controls. Instead, Fluval has taken what could’ve been a fantastic selling point and turned it into a downfall. Returned the whole unit because the app is so bad.

### 1/5 — What year is it?

*2026-06-02, version 1.2.2*

This app looks like nothing has been updated in 20 years. While functionally it works, the lack of options/control along with an aging UI is not acceptable in 2026.

### 1/5 — Does not connect

*2026-03-27, version 1.2.2*

Does not connect

### 1/5 — Don't buy

*2026-03-10, version 1.2.2*

I bought these lights so it would work anytime I needed it to. Well if I'm not home or my Bluetooth is not on it doesn't work. That's ridiculous

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2026-02-07, version 1.2.2*

Now have to return my fluval 4.0 because it refuses to connect …..

### 1/5 — Stop buying these lights

*2025-12-29, version 1.2.2*

The lights themselves are awesome. But unfortunately the app that you need to control them is garbage. It seems old and outdated and it’s always a gamble If I can even get the lights to connect, so changing anything with them is not really an option because even if I can finally manage to get one to connect so I can change it, it is very unlikely I will be able to get the other one to connect to be able to make them do the same thing. I would have switched them out a long time ago, but unfortunately these are the lights that come with the 90G Fluval Siena, so I’m kinda stuck with them on that tank. But I run hygger lights on just about every other tank I have and those work great. They are simple, great for plant growth and a fair price. No app needed, I just use the 24/h mode and have it run from 8-8.

### 1/5 — They abandoned there app

*2025-12-03, version 1.2.2*

True too use app will not work also can’t get it off my I phone still shows if messes phone up had too turn phone off then restart . What a shame spend lots of money on a product that you can’t use 😡😡

### 1/5 — Worse that junk

*2025-12-01, version 1.2.2*

The app is worse than junk. It is a fraud.

### 1/5 — Absolute joke

*2025-11-11, version 1.2.2*

I only put one star because it made me I highly don’t recommend would’ve gave it zero considering the fact that it’s probably the worst app that exist or at least that I’ve ever used. Don’t waste your time when I allow it to search for Bluetooth devices that says 50s found in the area then it shows a oven that’s like three houses down for me and that’s it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love these lights

*2026-03-31, version 1.2.2*

Idk what people are taking about. As long as the lights have power I’ve never had any issues with this app. Awesome protect.

### 5/5 — Better than the new one

*2026-03-10, version 1.2.2*

I’ve had this app and these lights for years. Never a moment’s trouble. Plus, this older app is 100% superior to Fluval’s new “connect” app.

### 5/5 — Great

*2025-12-22, version 1.2.2*

Light works wonderfully, just some thought through programming and all good

### 5/5 — This app is so peak

*2025-08-22, version 1.2.2*

I will write a proper review later

### 5/5 — Simple, Sleek, intuitive.

*2024-03-11, version 1.1.9*

I love this app. I have a planted 3.0 over my 65 and one of my nanos even has a marine 3.0 over it (looking to get more but thatll take some time) and I never have any issues. Early on there were a few bugs but the most recent update fixed the last couple. I love that you can add as many lights to the single app, name and sort them, the presets can be very nice if you aren’t looking to customize your spectrum, and customer support is always there for me! I will keep coming back for more if the price stays right! Hol’ up while I go ask the wife if I can pick up a 5x5 plant 3.0 nano! 😉 wish me luck!!!

Not a paid review!

Thanks,

@OTAquiatics_reef @OTAquatics_fresh

### 5/5 — Great Support

*2023-12-04, version 1.1.8*

After complaining in a review here. Iwascontacted several times via email with fluvval support
They were on it quickly and did in fact resolve all issues I had to date.
Very happy with the support as well as the products

### 5/5 — Exporting crashes app

*2023-12-03, version 1.1.8*

Hello I just recently updated my iPhone 12 max pro. And the app worked fine 2 days ago. But today when I try to export in the pro setting it closes the app. All 3 of my lights are doing the same thing in the same exact thing happens. Only bug I’ve found. Everything else seems to work as normally

### 5/5 — Stopped working when I went to iOS 17

*2023-10-10, version 1.1.7*

Stopped working when I went to iOS 17
On had to
Remove
The app and re-install it and then it worked
I did not click the checkmark as the instructions said and it did fix it

### 5/5 — Daylight saving

*2023-03-26, version 1.1.7*

I have only one gripe with this app. It would be handy if I could set it so that it ignores daylight saving charges. I live in UK & my plants don’t need to know that everyone changes their clocks twice a year. I’m sure the plants & fish would be happier if the clock changes were ignored.

### 5/5 — Works fine

*2022-08-19, version 1.1.7*

Everything works as it should, the app finds the light(s) and controls them. It could be more intuitive, it could teach you how to use the app. But as it is, it’s functional. Seems like the app catches more guff than it should because it doesn’t hold your hand in the beginning, I just needed to mess with it a few times to get it figured out.
