## What is FLwatch?

FLwatch displays blood glucose readings from Abbott FreeStyle Libre 2, Libre 3 and Libre 3+ sensors, as well as Dexcom G6 / G7 / ONE+ sensors, on your iPhone and Apple Watch.

Glucose data can be received through the LibreLinkUp cloud, Dexcom Share, or a direct Bluetooth connection to Libre 3 and Libre 3+ sensors.

FLwatch also lets you record insulin doses and visualizes insulin-on-board and insulin activity with dedicated graphs, helping you better understand how insulin and glucose levels interact.

Glucose readings and recorded insulin doses can be exported to Apple Health. When using a direct Libre 3 or Libre 3+ Bluetooth connection, they can also be exported to your own Nightscout server.

With native Apple Watch support, widgets, Live Activities, and configurable glucose and sensor alerts, your glucose data is always visible across your Apple devices, helping support daily diabetes management.

### 4/5 — Great App! Highly recommended!

*2026-08-12*

Great to see readings on widgets, also with a reload and time from last reading feature. I’ve been using with iPhone, iPad and Mac. I’m now thinking about getting an Apple Watch to have a faster way to see my readings.

I see you added an option to sync to apple health, but the switch to export on the app won’t slide. In settings Apple Health FlWatch is switched on to allow as a source, but still on the app I press y slide on to export the data is not possible. Is it just me?

**Developer response:** Thank you for coming back with another review — and I’m glad to hear you’re still enjoying FLwatch!

Apple Health support was added after requests like yours, so it’s especially nice to see you using it now.

Regarding the export switch: until now, FLwatch required permission for both glucose and insulin data before Apple Health export could be enabled. I recently changed this so the two are handled independently — for example, allowing glucose alone is now sufficient if that’s all you want to export.

That improvement will be included in the next release, so what you’re seeing should be resolved there.

Thanks again for the feedback and for sticking with FLwatch!

### 5/5 — This is an exceptional app.

*2026-08-06*

Fit for purpose, no fluff, no annoyance. Just one thing please, can the long action be part of the input as well as fast acting then on the graphs it can be estimated for different time delay tweaking please.
And a button to hide the ‘since the last reading’ as I keep mistaking it for my clock.
Cheers. I love it and Thankyou muchly.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the lovely review — I really appreciate it!

Regarding long-acting insulin: FLwatch’s current IOB calculation is intended for rapid-acting insulin, as basal/long-acting insulin is normally treated separately rather than being included in IOB. That said, I’ll have a look at whether long-acting insulin could be entered and represented on the graphs in a useful way without making the IOB display misleading.

And regarding the “since the last reading” display: I think you mean the indication showing how many minutes have passed since the last glucose value. If so, I can certainly look into providing an option to hide it.

Thanks again for the kind words and for the suggestions — feedback like this is very helpful!

### 1/5 — Great looking app but it eats battery charge!

*2026-07-28*

I installed this app two days ago and have to say that initially I was very impressed. Really nice graphics and faultless operation. After 24 hours it became apparent that both phone and watch battery charge levels were being badly impacted. Another 24 years on and the iPhone battery app reports over 50% usage by the FLwatch app.
I have reverted to SweetDreams app which functions the same but only uses a few percent in the same time. Real shame. 😞

Update. After a rebuttal from the writer, I reinstalled the App just to find that it screws battery life just as bad as before. Over 60% of my battery consumption was the FL Watch app on the first day. Needless to say I’ve removed it again.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. I have since done some additional profiling of FLwatch’s battery usage and identified the Live Activity as one area where consumption could be significantly reduced. In particular, rendering the glucose graph every minute was more expensive than necessary.

This has now been reworked with a much more lightweight rendering approach and will be included in the next FLwatch release. In the meantime, users who experience higher-than-expected battery consumption can disable the Live Activity in FLwatch, which should considerably reduce its battery impact while keeping the rest of the app available.

One small clarification regarding the percentage shown in iOS Battery settings: this number represents FLwatch’s share of the battery usage attributed to apps during the selected period. It does not mean that FLwatch itself consumed that percentage of the phone’s total battery charge. For example, an app can account for a large percentage of reported app usage even when the overall battery drain during that period was relatively small.

Battery efficiency is something I continuously look at as part of developing FLwatch, and improvements like this are made whenever I find an opportunity to reduce resource usage without sacrificing functionality.

### 5/5 — A Very Underrated App, IMO

*2026-06-28*

There are other Glucose apps, which charge for live activities not nearly as accurate and helpful as FLwatch. I started using this when I still had an Apple watch which I’ve since ditched because of the inexcusable battery life. Still use on my iPhone and the Live Activities update with my Librelink app immediately. Thank you for a great app with both privacy and great performance.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review!

I’m really happy to hear that FLwatch continues to be useful for you, even after switching away from the Apple Watch. It’s especially great to know that the Live Activities and LibreLink updates are working well for you.

FLwatch is a free, open-source project that I develop in my spare time, so feedback like yours means a lot. Reviews like this are not only a huge motivation to keep improving the app, but they also help increase its visibility in the App Store, making it easier for other people with diabetes to discover it.

Thank you again for your support and for being part of the FLwatch community. Wishing you all the best and stable glucose readings!

### 4/5 — Works great

*2026-05-22*

This app does what Libre 3 is too lazy to do, it talks to my Apple Watch! Yay! Now I have to figure out why it won’t talk to Apple Health.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review. Maybe some missing permissions for Apple Health? Please send an email to support if the problem persists.

### 5/5 — Top

*2026-05-21*

This is exactly what the Abbot app is missing. Thank you very much for working on this!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much! I’m really glad FLwatch adds something useful that you were missing. Feedback like this is a great motivation to keep improving the app!

### 5/5 — Usefull

*2026-05-15*

This app is great. It brings functionality that Freestyle should really supply via their app. Well done and thanks

**Developer response:** Thanks. Glad it helps! 😊

### 5/5 — At last, an app that’s practical!

*2026-05-13*

love love love the app. User friendly and just sensible. Being able to easily see what’s going on at a glance without having to open apps and pressing a million buttons is amazing. My only suggestion/request would be to make the ‘resulting carbs’ button a free-fill option when we know the carb quantity already. Coffee donation on it’s way to you, it’s well deserved for making my (and my kids) life so much easier. Thank you!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your review. I agree with the carb field. But I could not make it accepting input as well. And adding another field made everything too cluttered. My wprkaround: add the carbs on the carb/100g field, tap the 100g portion field and there you have the carbs you entered. 😊

### 3/5 — Great looking app but it eats battery charge!

**Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback and for trying FLwatch.

FLwatch is a free and open-source project that I develop in my spare time to help the diabetes community. I genuinely appreciate bug reports, feature suggestions, and constructive criticism, because they help improve the app for everyone.

That said, some limitations are outside of the app’s control — especially regarding iOS/watchOS background updates, widget refresh frequency, and battery usage, which are heavily restricted by Apple’s system policies and can vary significantly between devices and configurations.

I always try to improve performance, reliability, and battery efficiency whenever possible. If something is not working as expected, please consider reaching out through the project channels with details about your setup so issues can be investigated properly.

Thank you again for your support, patience, and understanding.

### 5/5 — Excellent. Top notch

*2026-05-07*

Very useful to get the libre 2 sensor data in near real time on the apple watch. The widget was easy to set up a complication on ultra watch face instead of (music) and i get a direct read of sensor data.. clicking on brings up a graph. All I need! Great!
