## What is Flyby?

Flyby is a subscription-based app. An active subscription is required to use Flyby.

Flyby gives you the full experience — real-time launch simulations, AR overlays, and alerts built around what you can actually see from your location. It tracks 30,000+ objects, launches worldwide, and tells you exactly when and where to look.

KNOW WHEN YOU'LL SEE IT
Flyby computes exact T+ time windows for when a launch will be visible from your location. Not just "a rocket is launching tonight" — you'll know the precise seconds after liftoff when the vehicle enters your line of sight, what direction to face, and how high to look.

KNOW WHERE TO LOOK
Open the AR spotting tool and Flyby places a marker on the satellite or launch vehicle in your sky. No star charts, no guesswork. Point your phone up and find it.

ONLY PASSES WORTH GOING OUTSIDE FOR
Flyby's visibility engine factors in orbital geometry, solar illumination, atmospheric conditions, satellite brightness, and your local light pollution. You only get notified when there's something real to spot — not just when something is overhead.

FEEL EVERY STAGE OF THE FLIGHT
A real-time ascent simulation with haptic feedback, stage separations, live telemetry on a 3D globe, and integrated livestream audio. Follow the flight from ignition to orbit.

THE GLOBE
Launches, satellites, visible passes, and live telemetry on a single interactive 3D globe. See who's aboard a space station when it's passing. The most relevant events for your location come first.

YOUR MISSIONS, YOUR ALERTS
Follow your favorite agencies and companies. Customize exactly what you get notified about. Launch countdowns and pass tracking arcs show up on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island through Live Activities.

### 5/5 — Brings Back That Sense of Wonder

*2026-07-27*

I used to spend so much time on Sky Walk just exploring the night sky, so it’s really cool to see an app like this focused on launches and satellite tracking. The UI is clean, the features are actually useful, and I love that it tells you exactly when and where to look. It’s already become one of those apps I check regularly. If you’re into space at all, this is definitely worth downloading.

### 5/5 — amazing !!

as a young astrophysicist who works at nasa internships i live for this app !! i love how it notifies u when satellites r passing !! super cool keep up the great work !!

### 5/5 — Very well thought through and designed.

We watched the launch using this app and it was super cool.

### 5/5 — Functional and educational

*2026-04-02*

Super cool app that allows you to track satellites as they are flying overhead and real time. I actually used this app to track the Artemis takeoff. Just point your iPhone up to the sky and the app does the rest!

### 5/5 — Artemis launch

*2026-04-02*

What a fantastic app! I watched the lead up, the countdown and the rocket launch. Wondering where it was after a few minutes, I looked up its location and was amazed at how fast it was over other countries. Such a great app. Totally recommend!!

### 5/5 — They thought of everything really.

*2026-04-02*

As a casual observer of the night sky, I really have very little idea of all that we can see even without sophisticated equipment. The app is very easy to use (for people like me) but it includes so much information that I think more seasoned astronomers would enjoy using it as well. I actually used it to track the Artemis II launch and was so impressed with the live-stream feed, the countdown clock etc. Also super cool feature that I have to comment on is that my phone vibrated along to the countdown clock. Just a nice touch! Excited to get more use out of this app in the future.

### 5/5 — Best App

*2026-03-25*

This app was easy to use and allowed me to locate the launches and satellites from anywhere. 10/10

### 5/5 — Great for watching launches!

I didn’t even know i could see a spacex launch from virginia, this app is awesome!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1 — 2026-05-28

Weather Forecasts — see sky conditions for every launch and pass, so you know before you head out whether clouds will block your view.

Logbook — record every launch and pass you witness, build an observing streak, and look back on everything you've spotted.

Daylight & Visibility — know whether a launch happens at night, twilight, or daytime, and when a twilight launch might produce a glowing "jellyfish" exhaust plume.

Richer Launch Details — launch windows, providers, vehicle specs, and pad info in one redesigned view.

In-App Glossary — tap the (i) next to any term for a quick, plain-language definition.

We also sharpened visibility timing and made notifications more reliable — the "visible at T+" time in the app now matches your alerts to the second, for launches and Starlink passes
  alike.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-04-30

This update is mostly about one thing: a brand new AR engine.

Flyby used to rely on ARKit for AR tracking, and ARKit had a habit of recalibrating mid-session, sending satellites jumping around the screen right as you were trying to spot one. We've replaced it with direct readings from your phone's magnetometer and gyroscope. The result is dramatically steadier tracking, especially for fast moving targets like rocket launches climbing through the sky. We're genuinely proud of how this turned out.

A few other improvements landed alongside it.

Onboarding got a full refresh. It's more cinematic now, with sound and a first run experience that actually does the app justice.

The home screen has filters. You can split the feed between launches and passes, then narrow further by visibility, crewed missions, or excellent passes only. Want just the brightest ISS passes this week? You can get there in two taps.
