## What is Flyby?

See the ISS, other satellites and rocket launches from where you live. Flyby tells you when something worth seeing is about to pass over, and shows it on a live 3D globe.

Free to download. Flyby Pro, with a free trial, adds exactly where to look, the full path in Sky View, clear-sky forecasts and Live Activities for passes.

Free

Tonight's passes. See which satellites cross your sky and when each one appears, worked out on your phone for your exact location.

Pass alerts. Get a heads-up before a good pass, with the satellite's name and the time.

Rocket launches. Follow upcoming launches from around the world, and see which ones you can actually see from home.

A live 3D globe. Thousands of satellites, tracked as they move. Tap one to learn what it is.

Sky View. Hold up your phone, or use the rendered sky indoors. The Moon, planets, bright stars and constellations are labelled where they really are.

Show me tonight. A short tour of what's up tonight, one object at a time.

Did you catch it? After a pass, Flyby asks if you saw it. Say yes and it goes in your Logbook with the time and place.

Logbook. Every sighting in one place, with records to collect as you go and Echo, a small orange companion who's glad you looked up.

Widgets. Your next pass and next launch on your Home Screen.

With Flyby Pro

Exactly where to look. Which way to face, how high to look and when it fades, for every pass and every visible launch.

The full path in Sky View. See the line it will take across your sky, and scrub through time to preview it.

Go-outside alerts. Fewer, better alerts, only for passes worth stepping out for, with where to look right in the alert.

Clear-sky forecasts. Hour-by-hour cloud cover for each pass and visible launch.

Live Activities. Follow a pass on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island while it happens.

Getting started

A short story shows what Flyby does, then asks for your location so every prediction is for your own sky. You choose which alerts you want. Sign in with Apple keeps your Logbook safe across devices and reinstalls.

Subscription

Flyby Pro is available monthly ($9.99) or yearly ($39.99), in US dollars. Prices may vary by country. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel it in your App Store account settings. ### 5/5 — Brings Back That Sense of Wonder

*2026-07-27*

I used to spend so much time on Sky Walk just exploring the night sky, so it’s really cool to see an app like this focused on launches and satellite tracking. The UI is clean, the features are actually useful, and I love that it tells you exactly when and where to look. It’s already become one of those apps I check regularly. If you’re into space at all, this is definitely worth downloading.

### 5/5 — amazing !!

as a young astrophysicist who works at nasa internships i live for this app !! i love how it notifies u when satellites r passing !! super cool keep up the great work !!

### 5/5 — Very well thought through and designed.

*2026-04-04*

We watched the launch using this app and it was super cool.

### 5/5 — Functional and educational

*2026-04-02*

Super cool app that allows you to track satellites as they are flying overhead and real time. I actually used this app to track the Artemis takeoff. Just point your iPhone up to the sky and the app does the rest!

### 5/5 — Artemis launch

*2026-04-02*

What a fantastic app! I watched the lead up, the countdown and the rocket launch. Wondering where it was after a few minutes, I looked up its location and was amazed at how fast it was over other countries. Such a great app. Totally recommend!!

### 5/5 — They thought of everything really.

*2026-04-02*

As a casual observer of the night sky, I really have very little idea of all that we can see even without sophisticated equipment. The app is very easy to use (for people like me) but it includes so much information that I think more seasoned astronomers would enjoy using it as well. I actually used it to track the Artemis II launch and was so impressed with the live-stream feed, the countdown clock etc. Also super cool feature that I have to comment on is that my phone vibrated along to the countdown clock. Just a nice touch! Excited to get more use out of this app in the future.

### 5/5 — Best App

*2026-03-25*

This app was easy to use and allowed me to locate the launches and satellites from anywhere. 10/10

### 5/5 — Great for watching launches!

I didn’t even know i could see a spacex launch from virginia, this app is awesome!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-10-21

Flyby 1.2 is free to start. Pass times, alerts, launches, the globe, Sky View and your Logbook are free. Pro adds where to look.

New in this version:
- A short story to get you started
- "Show me tonight", a guided tour of tonight's sky in Sky View
- "Did you catch it?" after each pass, so the ones you saw go in your Logbook
- Echo, a small companion in your Logbook, plus records to collect
- Go-outside alerts in Pro, only for passes worth stepping out for
- Home Screen widgets for your next pass and next launch

### 1.1 — 2026-05-28

Weather Forecasts — see sky conditions for every launch and pass, so you know before you head out whether clouds will block your view.

Logbook — record every launch and pass you witness, build an observing streak, and look back on everything you've spotted.

Daylight & Visibility — know whether a launch happens at night, twilight, or daytime, and when a twilight launch might produce a glowing "jellyfish" exhaust plume.

Richer Launch Details — launch windows, providers, vehicle specs, and pad info in one redesigned view.

In-App Glossary — tap the (i) next to any term for a quick, plain-language definition.

We also sharpened visibility timing and made notifications more reliable — the "visible at T+" time in the app now matches your alerts to the second, for launches and Starlink passes
  alike.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-04-30

This update is mostly about one thing: a brand new AR engine.

Flyby used to rely on ARKit for AR tracking, and ARKit had a habit of recalibrating mid-session, sending satellites jumping around the screen right as you were trying to spot one. We've replaced it with direct readings from your phone's magnetometer and gyroscope. The result is dramatically steadier tracking, especially for fast moving targets like rocket launches climbing through the sky. We're genuinely proud of how this turned out.

A few other improvements landed alongside it.

Onboarding got a full refresh. It's more cinematic now, with sound and a first run experience that actually does the app justice.

The home screen has filters. You can split the feed between launches and passes, then narrow further by visibility, crewed missions, or excellent passes only. Want just the brightest ISS passes this week? You can get there in two taps.
