So you get about 450 Sp a mth for that price but if it’s not a free book you might only be able to pay for 20 or 40 chapters a month on 1 book. Who reads so little seriously. That’s too much and they mostly don’t properly translate the SP you spend on a book that is totally unreadable. I would stay on this but because at this point I’ve read all the free ones that were good and now there is only 7 that are not finished. I’m not willing to continue to pay for something that I can only get 1 chapter a day on and everything else is just wasteful, especially for a binge reader. Maybe I come back in a year to just read the vip and cancel again. I get more from Netflix than I get from this app that is just money wasting. I caution those who believe this is a worthwhile app. I thought so but if you can only pick out some books that are worth it then is not worth it. That’s why this is my last month. I’m sad to go but if I can’t get what I’m paying why keep giving. Plus the administration don’t care or see what is logged on by the translators to give people what they paid. 2 stars and that’s for the total of the books that where free in the monthly nothing else. Good luck! ### 2/5 — :/ *2024-01-19, version 4.9.5* Don’t know how I feel about this app. Aside from personal preferences, I have found that a LOT of the translations do not tell you what the original work is. The story is real, but the title and even character names are changed. I used to like it for some of the translations that were done well, but after finding numerous subpar translations with the big changes, I am no longer comfortable using it. MTL would be closer to the original. That said, there are some good translations and I appreciate the translators that actually tried. ### 3/5 — Locked my previously unlocked chapters *2023-07-28, version 4.9.5* I really love to come back and reread certain stories, but why did a series I had completely read lock all of the chapters? ### 3/5 — 😭 PLEASE, fix the audio! *2023-02-28* I dont mind paying for chapters, but i basically ONLY listen to the audiobooks so i can multi task. The default voice used to be understandable, but ever since i updated my iOS the app has changed the voice to something that’s barely understandable and unpleasant. Very VERY robotic. Please let us select the voice in the app or at least set the default iOS female voice to Nicky(not enhanced). If this continues i dont think i’ll ever be using flying lines again, because again, i only listen to audiobooks/text to speech. ### 4/5 — Overdue review *2022-06-27, version 4.9.5* When it comes to technical support this app is literally the best I reported a problem yesterday and they already solved it in less than 24 hours My problem is with some of the translators I don’t know if they take on too many works or just get lazy some of the translations are really bad they be mixing up names and stuff and yet the books are still very expensive and I think it’s unfair since I just renew my VIP pass I’ll continue but I’m pretty sure I’ll cut it off when it’s due cause the contents are not worth the money ### 2/5 — Used to be good but became bad *2021-10-07, version 4.9.1* Edit 2: I think, since they are so adamant that the app is mainly MTL that all MTLed novels still be available to other translators to translate. It’s not fair to horde all these novels and just translate them using a machine effectively ruining the novel itself. You’re being unfair to everyone out there, if you don’t want to pay the translators and instead cut costs then no problem but you have to be reasonable as well! I’ve loved this app in the beginning and your drastic changes have caused me to view it with distaste. I won’t lie most of the earlier translated novels are as excellent as always but the ones that haven’t finished are surely suffering. Edit: This is an edit for a year after what I wrote below. I absolutely hate this app. The new decision for it to be MTL with human revision is absolutely horrible, the SPs really aren’t enough especially since they took out a lot of the task rewards, I’m honestly sooooo disappointed. Original: I love this app very much and it bought so many good stories into life by translating them so us English speakers can enjoy them as well. My issue is something stupid and it’s that the quality of the translation really doesn’t warrant payments and the like but I also understand that people do all this and it takes time and effort as well as money to buy the raws so I completely get the prices. If only the free SPs given could be more because honestly starting a new story when you’re already reading others is a whole struggle. I really have to budget my SPs and in my country I can’t pay for extras so I’m screwed. But it’s all manageable and I don’t mind it much. I just wish there was a way to talk to the translators other than through comments since the translators rarely see those. And also if they drop a story then it should be said clearly instead of letting people hang. My biggest issue is that the app is turning into Wattpad 2.0. Instead of it being Asian comics and novels somehow English wattpad stories are making their way into the app and it’s honestly annoying. It was much better when the app was for translated novels only. I was looking for the perfect reading app and I downloaded a couple of apps but I just ended up getting disappointed and deleting them after a day or two.I was reading online one day then I stumbled upon flying lines, I didn’t have much hope thinking it was going to be like all the other apps I deleted but I was pleasantly surprised. Not only does it have all the novels I was hoping to read it also has system in place that allows me to read the updated versions on time and I could even read ahead for completing simple tasks. I love this app so much and I would definitely recommend it 😍😍 ### 5/5 — Chef kiss kinda app 😘👌🏻 *2021-08-18, version 4.9.0* Not goin to lie the translations are kinda shoddy BUT, i’ve read way worse and the option to swap and/or edit the translation is pretty seamless/makes up for it. I’ve seen apps have the option to report incorrect translations and show suggested ones other people have made, but there’s never been an option to directly swap the text for user suggested edits! 🤩 not to mention there’s an option to have a robotic voice read the text to you with the corrected edits. All in all, best novel app I’ve used. Will be switching to annual membership after the 1mth discount rate ends. If this was a moba game, I would be a whale. THANK YOU developers for doing such an amazing job! ❤️ ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — This went down hill over the years *2025-01-16, version 4.9.5* I was a big fan in the beginning, some books that had been abandoned by other translators were continued for free on here. That’s no longer the case, I’ve just noticed when I went to reread and the book is all locked. Other books had some free chapters, then some locked, which you could slowly unlock for free with some help, the help was removed bit by bit to promote pay to read. Okay, this is a business I get it, but then even the free chapters were locked when I was half way through books or had even finished unlocking them! There were also several stolen translations with different titles to badly try hide the fact they were stolen. Not an app for the readers anymore just for money. ### 1/5 — What’s with the foreign names? *2024-11-18, version 4.9.5* It’s really a skill issue on my part but English names are way easier for me to process. Why is this guy named Xui-Lee-Yong. Sure, this may be Korean or whatever the names comes from but I expected at least SOME books to have a full cast of characters with English names… but there’s none??? Not even one. ### 1/5 — 🚩🚩 Fake Chapters 🚩🚩 *2024-04-09, version 4.9.5* I understand if a translator wants to drop a series cause they can get REALLY long, but randomly making up a ending chapter for it so you can slap a completed tag on it to make money?!? Excuse me?? For example “the supreme princess” is not only 331 chapters, its almost double that, and yet it’s “completed”. People pay for novels and expect at bare minimum that the series is true to the original text, even if the translation may not be 1 to 1. Randomly stopping mid way, making up a ending chapter, and hoping readers might not notice is fraud.
