There are other granular push notification settings. App Review Guidelines 4.5.4: “Push Notifications should not be used for promotions or direct marketing purposes unless customers have explicitly opted in to receive them via consent language displayed in your app’s UI” I certainly did not consent to get told when pie slices are on sale in my push notifications. ### 1/5 — App won’t work *2025-03-30, version 41.2.1* Every time it says it will email a link to open my account the new app, the link goes to 404 page not found. I’ve tried probably 20 times. Doesn’t work. ### 1/5 — Unable to use reward dollars on app *2021-01-31, version 4.16* I am tired of having to subscribe to qualify for discounts that are complicated to use. ### 1/5 — Great restaurant, worthless app *2020-07-26, version 4.12* This app won’t accept my Discover card, but it works just fine in the restaurant. Tried contacting customer support, they weren’t helpful and didn’t even get the name of the app right (they called it Starbird). Skip the app and just call the restaurant directly. ### 2/5 — App won’t let me PAY?! *2022-03-19, version 9.0.7* This app worked great all the way through the pandemic… I’ve made a half dozen orders on it, it takes my payment, food is ready, all good. Now, all of a sudden about a month ago it wouldn’t take my payment. My bank card is not expired. After messing with it for over half an hour, deleting the app from my device and re-download it and re-logging in… I contacted the Zendesk customer support. I got an email two days later that said “we have deleted your card payment. please enter it again”. So I did that. And it still won’t process my order! It lets me get all the way to where I pay, and then it says there’s an error. It doesn’t tell me what the error IS, but clearly has something to do with payment. So I went and reentered my card AGAIN, thwn the app says re-enter your card to authenticate payment” I triple check, all the information is correct, but it still won’t take my payment. so I had to call the restaurant and make the order verbally. What’s the point of having an app if it doesn’t work and it still doesn’t work after you’ve asked several times for customer support? what’s the point of trying to save labor on their side and use the app to order ahead if it doesn’t work I waste 25 minutes doing that and I still have to call in with my order?!? ### 2/5 — Great Food...Bad App *2021-01-21, version 4.16* Have had too many problems with this app, not intuitive, glitchy, and orders are lost. Need a comprehensive redesign. ### 3/5 — Says must update, no update available *2025-02-03, version 37.0.0* I have mostly been pretty happy with the app. But when I opened it today it said this version will not be usable after Feb 15, 2025, and that I must update it. I clicked the link that took me to the App Store, and it offers no new update. Just the option to Open (the current version). Now that I think of it, not surprised, since different offers (VIP, etc) show up in the app, and the employees seem to have been told nothing about it, and thus are unable to answer questions. So why should I expect logic, accuracy and consistency in the app at this point. Also, existing reviews are about the quality of service at the restaurants. I have an idea: how about reviewing the app itself, when you’re leaving a review in the App Store!? ### 3/5 — Rewards *2022-03-27, version 9.0.7* Too many application steps to try to finally get your reward coupon. It doesn’t support Apple Pay. 2. Unlike most websites and apps, when you try to enter your credit card info you are not prompted to use a saved credit card 3. If you press “back” after your order is confirmed, you’re brought back to the payment entry screen, which doesn’t make any sense from because that transaction has already been finalized. There is no way to get back to a home screen without closing the app and restarting it.
