Tried repeatedly but the id scan won’t take photo of ID and cannot complete transaction because of this. Used to work not sure what went wrong. Oh well time to fly someone else then ### 2/5 — Forced Updates Painful *2026-01-28* This buggy app has got less buggy over time but the forced updates are frustrating. By definition the most common times to use the app would be at the airport / away from home, where you need to find a WiFi connection to make the uodate work/ or burn data for a neglible improvement, If that. You would think with all the updates that if you move a flight you wouldn't have to pay separate payments for booked seats and the difference in flight cost... But no. So nice idea, sadly after a long period of time the execution is still lacking **Developer response:** Hi! We apologise for the issue you have experienced. Thank for using the FlySafair app! ### 4/5 — Flight info issue *2026-01-02, version 2.0.33* The app is very slick and responsive. However I’ve run into a bug with the travel details for a flight. I booked 2 flights, to Cape Town and back. On day the of my return flight, tapping on the travel details for the flight brought up THE FIRST FLIGHT’S info. I had to rely on the emailed boarding pass for accurate times because of this. I couldn’t find a feedback option on the app so I’m just writing a review to hopefully let the developers know ### 5/5 — Best airline and travel app ever! *2025-12-25, version 2.0.33* This app works very smoothly and is very easy to navigate. Easy to book, pay and also change flights through the app. I wish more airline apps worked this well! ### 5/5 — Easy to use app *2025-12-20, version 2.0.33* The FlySafair app is fantastic! It’s incredibly easy to use, with a clean and intuitive interface that makes booking flights, checking in, and getting your boarding pass a breeze. The only frustration is that each add on has to be paid for separately. For example, if you select seating, I have to pay for this then go and select priority boarding and another payment. This don’t make sense, allow customers to opt for all add on’s and make one payment. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because you can’t checkout with Apple Pay. I don’t ever save cards so it means that I always have to enter my card details. That said, efficiency here is tops too. This morning when checking in, the lines were long. It was tedious. Very soon, 4 more checkin counters were opened. They zipped through the lines. Well done. We know it is a tough business. ### 4/5 — Always get stuck at selecting a seat *2025-05-22, version 2.0.23* I regularly FlySafair but whenever I try to check in online, I very often get stuck at selecting a seat. This is probably only the second or third time I was able to through. I try both the App and the online and I have raised this issue with several FlySafair employees and they tried to assist me with no luck. Thank you! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Bag opened, items broken / stolen *2026-04-15, version 2.0.38* I flew Safair on the 13/4 FA115 and had my checked bags broken into and items rummaged through and items either broken or stolen. I did not have a good experience. I am hoping my next few flights are a better experience. What about the three dots buttons top left not working? What about app lags because App doesn’t accept your passport number when you want to book. What about synchronizing ALL the flights that were booked with one profile on BOTH app and website… There is room for improvement. It is not just about being on time… ### 1/5 — The app is slow *2025-01-27, version 2.0.19* Guys, the app is easy to use but I’m going to call it the heart of death! The loading screens take far too long when attempting to edit a flight and the experience is not great at all. What is taking so long in the background? Is it possible to maybe show a loading icon on the menu item(s) that have got long background running processes? This is not internet connectivity related. If you instead access the website from your browser, it doesn't use phone time. ### 1/5 — Great airline, poor app *2024-12-06, version 2.0.17* Tried to book a seat on the app and the transaction keeps failing whether I try using a credit card or Ozow. It just tells me that I can’t reserve a seat at the moment and I must try again later. Tried the website and the transaction went through to reserve a seat on each of my flights however only 1 seat was actually reserved and when trying to reserve the other an error keeps coming up telling me to try again later. ### 1/5 — Hate using the app *2024-11-28, version 2.0.16* Generally enjoying flying Flysafair but if I book I prefer to book via computer, using App really aweful ### 1/5 — Worst travel app *2024-11-15, version 2.0.15* Online checkin is impossible . The app developers could very easily ensure this feature works . Almost weekly updates for “bug fixes” which seem to do nothing at all . Not worth the time attempting to use this app ### 1/5 — Payment STILL an issue FFS!! *2024-11-10, version 2.0.14* The payment on this app does not work. When you add you credit card and save it, and accepting T&C’s then you get a msg saying payment failed. I had to book my tickets via travel start but is costs more and I can’t choose priority or seats. Travel start payment portal worked which is a clear indication that the issue is with the FlySafair app. Every time I book my flights on the app there is some issue with payment. Itara Taygon and Rorisang were absolutely amazing with my autistic son on his very first flight. They were patient, gentle, and incredibly kind. They went out of their way to make him feel safe and comfortable, which meant more to me than I can express. As a parent, flying can be stressful, especially when your child has special needs. But because of these two wonderful ladies, our experience was calm, positive, and truly memorable. Their compassion and professionalism made all the difference. Thank you for turning what could have been a stressful experience into a beautiful first-flight memory for my son.
