### 3/5 — App is terrible

*2025-07-24, version 5.9.5*

I’ve used Flywheel before and had great service for a better cost than uber / Lyft. But the app is bad. Tried using it to get to the airport this morning. When I requested a ride it said my pickup location was too far away (and showed what I had I out as the drop off location). Ended up using Uber.

### 2/5 — The app doesn’t work

*2025-04-30*

When you click on the Set up Apple Pay button, you get a pop up that says Flywheel doesn’t accept Apple Pay. When you try to scan a credit card the app snaps shut and you have to start over. When you manually enter a credit card and think, jeeze this has to work now, the app takes 3-4 minutes to scan for available drivers and then gives a pop up saying No available drivers try again later. I’ve tried multiple times. To get things figured out and finally deleted it altogether.

### 2/5 — great idea but the app is supremely buggy

*2025-03-06*

I feel like the app maybe just isn’t maintained or something - apple pay / wallet stopped working at all, there are two totally separate places to enter a credit card, scanning a card doesn’t work, entering the number manually crashes the app instantly, and more and more. Also while in the past drivers would accept and pick up quickly, more and more now no driver will accept, or they accept and immediately cancel. Frustrating!

### 2/5 — It's gone downhill

*2024-12-20, version 5.9.3*

I've used the Flywheel app many times to schedule rides to and from the airport, and it's worked well. However, after the last OS update, it's integration with Maps is broken, and I almost had to walk into the street in order to get it to recognize my address. I can no longer enter an address nor can I use the map to select one. App needs maintenance before it will be useful again.

### 1/5 — Crashes, doesn’t take payment, and is buggy

*2024-09-29, version 5.9.3*

I’m surprised Apple let this app into the store. It’s aweful. Says my Apple Pay isn’t valid (it is), crashes when I try to manually enter in a card, and is extremely buggy. Terrible app.

### 2/5 — Terrible App

*2024-06-29, version 5.9.3*

I was in San Francisco and needed a way to get a cab. Long story short, I ended up with the Flywheel app. The app is not difficult to use, but it also isn’t easy. It is not very intuitive. The worst part is, there is no way to access a te riot for rides. They say they will email to you automatically, but they don’t. After reaching out to their support numerous times, I still have no receipt. They keep saying they will send it, but they never do. They have tried to blame it on me, saying I blocked them, and yet I’m getting all of their replies to my emails requesting a receipt. When I finally asked if they could just attach it to their response, they stopped responding. That is an $87 cab ride I have no receipt for so I can’t expense it to my company. I have gotten every receipt from all the other rides from other cabbies, but not theirs and they refuse to help me. I can see a record of rides on every other app, and access that receipt, but not this one. Don’t use Flywheel if you need a receipt.

### 1/5 — Bad. Misleading

*2024-06-28, version 5.9.3*

This app is horrible. It charged me double the cost of the ride because my driver chose the longest route possible, and it didn't even send me a receipt for me to validate the charges. Insane. Definitely not using again

### 1/5 — App used to work

*2024-04-03, version 5.9.3*

I didn’t use it much mostly because the app was always buggy. Now it doesn’t open at all. Wish I could support these guys.

### 2/5 — Trying to support cab drivers, but...

*2023-12-17*

I would rather support cabbies than Uber, but I'm SF the app tries locating a driver in Hayes Valley (my pickup location base), but never finds one. Also, trying to type in the address typically doesn't help the cabbies because they still ask where I want to go. The whole point of taking a cab is to say "I'm going to this corner or this store". They know the city. But now I have to lookup the precise address to use the app (before you could use the app without having to type an address). It is really challenging to find a cabbie on the app now and I end up using Uber.

### 1/5 — App can’t load

*2023-10-14, version 5.9.3*

I’m on the latest version of the app and it can’t log me in. Tried killing the app but it does not work

### 1/5 — Non usable

*2023-10-08, version 5.9.3*

The app immediately crashes every time I open it.

### 4/5 — Pretty Ok

*2023-09-27*

Used this app during a conference when I saw the cars driving around the city. It came faster than an Uber or Lyft who kept cancelling on me. Only thing I would be wary about is that If you have to take a toll road or bridge, that doesn’t seem to be built into the app for the drivers so my driver asked me for the toll $ and I don’t have cash so I didn’t know what to do. A little weird and would make me second guess using it if I need to take a toll.

### 1/5 — Overcharged - no customer service

*2023-07-18, version 5.9.2*

$10 ride that I take everyday. Same route. Same price. Then I get charged $24 on my card. Flywheel no longer sends e-mail receipts. They didn’t reply to e-mails about this overcharge. Looks like they are going out of business.

### 1/5 — Not Recommended

*2023-06-22, version 5.9.2*

Flywheel may be ok for getting a taxi, but their customer service leaves a great deal to be desired. When I was double-charged by my driver I tried to contact Flywheel’s Customer Service to resolve the problem. All of my emails were completely ignored. I did not not receive so much as an automated response. I cannot recommend any business that can’t be bothered to even respond to a customer issue.

### 1/5 — Now, it doesn’t work at all

*2023-04-08*

1. You are REQUIRED to put in your destination, but CANNOT type in the address. Rather, you have to pinch/zoom & navigate to it on a map, so that you can’t even pay attention to your surroundings.
2. Now, once you finally navigate to your destination, the app CRASHES, making this app literally unusable. Avoid.
3. Once, while it was still working, I scheduled a cab to take me to the train for a vital trip. FlyWheel CANCELLED the scheduled pickup.
4. FAR WORSE, they DID NOT TELL ME THEY CANCELLED the pickup, nearly destroying my trip. I’m now deleting the app.

### 1/5 — Flywheel drivers will charge twice

*2023-02-25, version 5.9.2*

According to the taxi company you may be asked to pay by driver because they can’t tell that journey has been charged in the app

### 1/5 — Horrible. $500 tip?!??

*2023-02-02, version 5.9.2*

I clicked ok on the default $5 tip.
My credit card showed they made it $500

No response from their email only customer support. I guess I’ll be disputing it with the CC company

### 1/5 — This app doesn’t work

*2022-11-04, version 5.9.2*

Can’t set a pickup or drop off location

### 1/5 — Won’t select our address

*2022-11-02, version 5.9.2*

This app insists that our house is at a different address that doesn’t even exist. Trying to select on the map doesn’t work. There’s no way to type in an address, so it’s literally impossible to request a taxi to our house.

### 1/5 — Do not use app to schedule rides to airport

*2022-09-28*

I had an international flight and I needed a taxi. Had used flywheel before. But this time they neither showed up or informed me they couldn’t. Unbelievable. You cannot even call them. When they responded to my email they said simply that they had no driver to pick me up. They did not notify me or anything. Nothing through the app. I had to wake a friend to get me to the airport on time and it was a crunch. Do not use the app!!! If you call them they are reliable. It is a totally different service. I was so mad I deleted!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Wasn’t able to use it

*2026-05-07, version 5.9.7*

Calling a cab for someone else is impossible unless you dedicate your life on figuring out how this app works

### 1/5 — This app is totally broken on iOS

*2026-02-11*

I’ve downloaded this thing for the third time in the row after deleting it. I used to use flywheel when I was in Seattle, but for whatever reason got rid of it, I don’t recall. Every time I navigate to the part to update my payment details and complete the app crashes. Then the app will not open again… ever. I have to delete the app and start over. There is something seriously wrong with it and it seems the programmers are doing nothing to fix it based on other reviews I’ve read here. I give up.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time

*2026-02-08, version 5.9.7*

Having to pay just for an estimate- bit ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Once great now meh

*2025-11-21, version 5.9.7*

I used to be a loyal flywheel for years but now their service is terrible. There are fewer cabs available and I had one cancel on me when I was in urgent need of a ride. So ignore wondering why uber and Waymo are so bit well here’s you’re answer . It is sad because it used to be a really reliable app

### 1/5 — Crashes every time I try to login or sign up

*2025-10-03, version 5.9.6*

This app is 100% broken.

### 1/5 — not working on ios26

*2025-10-03, version 5.9.6*

..

### 1/5 — Won’t accept payment methods

*2025-08-02, version 5.9.5*

App won’t work without entering a payment method but none work. Apple Pay gives an error message. Scanning credit card does nothing. Entering credit card many crashes the apo

### 1/5 — Badly

*2025-04-26, version 5.9.4*

This is simply unbearable! The app has not been working for the second month. I need to go to a blood transfusion for my old father and the app won't open! Why do you exist?

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2025-04-13, version 5.9.4*

Any time I put in a destination, the app crashes.

### 1/5 — Completely broken Apple Pay

*2024-12-15, version 5.9.3*

The app says it supports Apple Pay but if you try to add a payment method using Apple Pay it just fails.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love getting a taxi so quickly

*2022-04-11*

I never wanted to use a ride share service since it feels like hitchhiking to me. As soon as I learned of Flywheel after having a car accident, I downloaded the app. I have a car, but prefer to use the app to get to appointments etc. I had called taxis directly and was used to waiting a bit for them. The first time I used this app, the taxi arrived about 2 minutes later, I have never waited more than 5 minutes for a taxi. I do not live in the city any longer, but whenever I visit, I use my Flywheel app to get around.

### 5/5 — Better than ride shares...

*2019-05-07, version 5.7.19*

because they are registered professionals.

### 5/5 — Works for me!

*2019-03-31*

I love Flywheel! I can’t say, I wish I ha thought of it first...because, well, I did. I had an idea for an app that would allow you to order a cab, and it would be dispatched. I even thought about having the app track the locations on of the cab. I talked to a few people, but found no interest. A few months later, the first apps appeared, but were not quite what I envisioned. Then the ride shares appeared. I never bothered. I stuck with cabs. When Flywheel arrived, it was what I wanted. I used it before it became Flywheel. It is still a solid app, and is hands down the best.

### 5/5 — Drivers use their brain, which is superior to GPS

*2018-11-01*

So nice to hail a ride from someone that knows my city and how to maneuver within it. Uber is great but tired of drivers completely committed to the Uber GPS to navigate when the best route is not always on their phone/screen. They don’t know the names of most major city streets, but Flywheel drivers do, it is their profession.

### 5/5 — Flywheel

*2018-07-11, version 5.7.15*

I use Flywheel three to four times a day and rarely, if ever, have a disappointing experience; great ap.

### 5/5 — Flywheel App is Awesome

*2017-06-30, version 5.7.4*

This is THE best taxi app and may be better than Uber. I like taxis because they have fingerprint background checks and Uber doesn't. Nice app!

### 5/5 — Taxis are still the better option

*2017-05-11, version 5.7.4*

I will always use cabs because the are safer, more knowledgable, and the money supports the local economy (city & drivers). I always get a cab in less than 10 mins but I do live downtown. It just easy...

### 5/5 — Best transport option

*2017-04-01, version 5.7.4*

Flywheel is muchbetter option than the app based transportation companies who have no rider insurance protection or dedicated drivers.

### 5/5 — Still the best.

*2017-03-25*

After irritation with constant surge pricing and the questionable ethics of ride shares I looked for better ways to use taxis. I have always found there was a ride available and the drivers are friendly. Plus, unlike rideshares, the driver knows exactly where they are going. I'm satisfied with the app and the experience.

### 5/5 — Great service!

*2017-03-24, version 5.7.4*

Always reliable and easy to use!
