## What is Focen?

The fully automatic focus app that watches when you work and does everything for you.

Most focus apps put the work on you. You set timers, build blocklists app by app, and remember to switch everything on before you start. Focen doesn't. Once a session begins, it handles the rest on its own.

When you start a focus session on your Mac, your phone follows along by itself. Focen watches for the apps that tend to pull you away, gives you a little time, and if you keep drifting it quietly shields them so you can get back to what you were doing, all without you lifting a finger.

How it works
- Choose the apps you work in, once. On Mac, new sites are classified through AI, so that you never set a blocklist.
- Start a session on your Mac and your phone shields distractions on its own, in both places.
- Focen gives you a short window before it acts, so you can check a notification or two on Instagram without being hard-blocked.
- Pick how firm it should be: strict, balanced, or lenient. Turn on Focus mode to have distractions close the moment you open them.

Your settings stay in sync between your phone and your Mac automatically, so you never have to worry about things getting jumbled.

Private by design. Focen uses Apple Screen Time to shield apps on your device, and the apps you choose to block never leave your phone.

Focen for iPhone is part of Focen AI, which connects your phone to your desktop focus sessions. Learn more at focen.app.

### 5/5 — actually decent

*2026-09-20*

ok so ive been using this for a bit now, here’s what i think: I like the automation, basically from what ive seen so far it watches you work on desktop, then once you start working your phone follows. for those curious, it does work, like for me at least i like the little gap before blocking, but i think some bits of ui could be improved. functionality-wise i like it tho

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.1 — 2026-09-26

Your focus streak is on the home screen and in new home and Lock Screen widgets.
Stats now show your comebacks: how often you got back to work on your own, and how often Focen brought you back.
Every Friday you get a short recap of your week.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-22

We've made several upgrades to the user experience and to our core features.

- Complete redesign of syncing
- Improved onboarding with more personalization
- Improved UI design features
- Stats page where you can see how many hours you've saved
- Focus mode: one switch, and distractions are blocked the moment a session starts.
- Strict mode now gives you a minute before the shield, the same as on your computer.
- Your focused time now matches your computer flawlessly
- Subscribe on your iPhone, with 7 days free.

### 1.2 — 2026-09-14

The block screen's Continue button works. When a session has run long enough and you open a blocked app, Continue ends the session and opens that app in place instead of sending you to the Home Screen with everything still blocked.

The five minute break now pauses the session timer, so a break is not counted as work, and the computer's timer matches. Ending the break early reaches the computer too, and two breaks taken in a row are both counted.

Sign in with Google works again. It opens Google's own sign-in sheet, and if the sheet cannot complete it falls back to signing in through the web instead of stopping.

The sign-in screen shows that it is finishing while your account is being set up.

Settings has a new "Recent events" list under Your computer, so if the phone and the computer ever disagree, the reason is written down.

The Focen mark is on screen from the first moment the app opens.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-12

A new start. Setup now asks three quick questions and shows you what distraction actually costs, in your own numbers.

- Pick what distracts you instead of what you work in. A category covers apps you install later too, so there is no list to keep up.
- Sign in with Google without leaving the app.
- Setup now remembers where you were.
- Your allowance is spent on distractions, not on opening Focen. The phone no longer counts its own screen time against you, and no longer shields you for time you never spent.
- If you have a computer, setup now says what happens there. Sign in with the same account and the two find each other.

### 1.0 — 2026-09-09
