## What is Focus Mate 2?

Ever find yourself without a programmer at the console during focus? Don't want to take your phone out when you're up a ladder or halfway along a catwalk? Focus Mate lets you drive the desk with your voice — from your iPhone, or straight from your Apple Watch.

You can dictate full sentences, like you would to an assistant, and Focus Mate will do its best to execute what you dictate.

Example phrases include:
"123 and 126 at 50" will do what you expect
"Group 6 by themselves" will execute 'Group 6 RemDim"
"201 through 206 minus 204 home" will put all those channels back to their home preset.

For convenience, also included is a keypad remote for iPhone, for when speaking isn't easier.

## Key features

- Voice control for lighting consoles
- Apple Watch integration
- Supports ETC EOS and HES Hog 4
- Dictate full sentences
- Basic iPhone keypad remote
- Control presets, palettes, and cues

### 3/5 — Would like to see voice recognition on iPhone only

*2016-02-26*

I think this app has a lot of potential. I would love the ability to voice control the console. However, I don't have an Apple Watch, and probably won't be getting one any time soon. I would love to see the app include the voice recognition through just the iPhone itself. This would instantly make the app invaluable to me. However, it's unfortunately not so useful to me without the Apple Watch. Thanks!

### 4/5 — Very Nifty!

*2016-01-02*

Just got this app today. I was a little concerned before I bought it that the lag with the Apple Watch would make this unusable, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was definitely managable (however, I tried using it to run a focus for a designer, and it is definitely not fast enough for that, haha). Defnitely love that I can use it to run macros and subs. Don't know if it's being worked on or not, but I would love it if there was a Go/Back functionality on the OSC interface and on a second watch screen or something, so I could run a channel check through it, but other than that, works perfectly!

### 1/5 — Useless without Apple Watch

*2015-11-13*

Please offer support for headphone mic on iPhone.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.1 — 2026-08-12

New in this version:
• Auto discovery of EOS consoles on your local network, so you no longer have to remember IP addresses
• Speech correction for common mishearing mistakes
• User support for EOS consoles - custom, auto, or follow console

### 2.0 — 2026-08-05

We're back! 5 years after being discontinued and 10 years after originally publishing in the App Store, Focus Mate is back, and it's better than ever.

Now supporting modern Apple devices with a clean new UI.

Other new features include:
* MA3 Support! (Beta)
* TCP Support for all console types
* Configure multiple consoles and switch between them on both iPhone and Watch
* Command line on the Keypad page

### 1.1 — 2016-01-22

** Added Preliminary Support for Hog 4 Consoles **

You can now use Focus Mate as a rigger's remote for Hog Consoles, with support for channel selection (plus, minus, through), intensities, clearing, and parameters like colour, beam, position, etc.

I've also changed the command parser to allow different libraries of commands for different consoles, so I can add commands more quickly in the future.

Fixed:
* No need to force-quit the app for settings changes to take effect
* Sending commands is now more reliable for EOS consoles

### 1.0.1 — 2015-11-21

Added support for Macros, Submasters (Subs), and Addresses

Fixed: a bug where "at" could be transcribed as "@" and not function correctly.

Soon to come: different console presets, to allow you to switch easily between setups (e.g. Nomad offline at home and an EOS at the theatre)

### 1.0 — 2015-11-12

No release notes.
