## What is Focus4Life?

Focus4Life turns scattered days into focused ones. A Pomodoro timer, a real task planner and a distraction blocker in one calm app — no ads, no account, and it works completely offline.

WHY IT'S QUIET
Focus4Life doesn't run on anxiety. No punishing streaks, no guilt, no noise. Its timings and limits come from published research and from the original authors of each technique, and the research-backed settings carry an (i) with the source behind them.

FOUR RHYTHMS, EACH WITH A REASON
• Classic — 25 / 5 / 15, Cirillo's original technique
• Deep Work — 50 / 10 / 30, after Cal Newport's "Deep Work"
• Sprint — 15 / 3 / 10, a low-resistance way into a hard task
• Ultradian — 90 / 20, the Basic Rest-Activity Cycle (Kleitman; Lavie)
• A live countdown on your Lock Screen — and in the Dynamic Island on iPhones that have one — drawn by iOS itself, so it costs almost no battery
• A gentle heads-up when a task runs past the limits research links to fatigue

FOCUS LOCK — IT ACTUALLY STOPS YOU
• Block distracting apps — and websites in Safari — during a session using Apple Screen Time: a real, system-enforced shield, fully opt-in, and only while a focus phase is running
• Choose gentle friction or a firm block, per session or for good
• Flip your phone face-down to drop straight into focus, and get a nudge if you pick it up too soon
• Never during a break. Never while you're paused. Never without a permission you granted yourself

A REAL TASK PLANNER, NOT A CHECKLIST
• Priorities, due dates and repeats — daily, weekdays, weekly or monthly, ending never, on a date, or after a set number of times
• Estimate a task and the app works out how many pomodoros it needs
• Today, Week and Month views; on iPad, Week and Month list your actual tasks under each day
• Notes on any task
• Nothing reschedules itself behind your back. Overdue work is a count and a button, never a scolding

PROJECTS WITH SOMETHING TO FILL
Group tasks into colour-coded projects, each with an optional note on when and where you'll do the work — an “implementation intention”, shown to make follow-through markedly more likely (Gollwitzer, 1999). Give a project a goal image, estimate its tasks, and the image uncovers itself as you focus your way through the estimate.

A GARDEN THAT REMEMBERS
Every finished session uncovers part of a hidden picture, and longer sessions uncover more. A quiet record of effort — not a leaderboard, and not a plant that dies if you take a day off. Missing a day never takes anything away.

HONEST STATS
Minutes focused, sessions completed, tasks done, and your longest single session — for today and the last 7 days. Pro adds 30-day and all-time history, plus a breakdown of which apps interrupted you.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Works fully offline — no account, no sign-up, nothing in the cloud
• Your data stays on your device
• No ads. Not now, not ever.

ONE APP, EVERY SCREEN
iPhone, iPad and Mac, each running the same app with the same calm. Every device keeps its own data on itself — there is no cloud and nothing to sign in to.

FOCUS4LIFE PRO
Free covers the whole core loop: unlimited sessions, all four research presets, the entire task planner with repeats and notes, two projects, the Garden, and flip-to-focus. Pro is a one-time purchase — not a subscription — and unlocks unlimited projects, the full focus blocker, 30-day and all-time stats, custom timer durations, and your own photos in the Garden. It comes with a 7-day trial that asks for no payment card and simply ends.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.10 — 2026-08-30

Notes on any task

The old "Description" field is now Notes: roomier, and there for the things worth remembering — where you got stuck, what you'd try next. It stays one line tall until you use it, then grows.

Its first line now appears under a task in the timer's picker, so when you're choosing what to work on you can see where you left off before you start.

Notes are free, plain text, and stay on your device.

A clearer prompt for repeating tasks

Editing a repeating task used to ask about a checkbox that didn't exist. It now asks the same plain question as deleting one — this occurrence only, or this and future occurrences — with the choices in the same order in both places.

Behind that prompt, a real fix: if you moved an occurrence to a different date and chose "this and future", every other change you'd made was quietly discarded. Your edits now save.

Also

In the Garden, the PRO badge no longer sits on top of the add-photo button.

### 1.0.9 — 2026-07-16

New: Project Home
Tap any project to open it and see everything inside — its tasks grouped by when they're due, recurring habits collapsed into a single tidy row, and an Inbox for anything you haven't filed yet. A project's description now shows right at the top, so your intention for it stays in view.

Fuller Week & Month calendars on larger screens
On tablets, desktop, and the web, the Week and Month tabs now list your actual tasks under each day instead of just a dot. Tap a task to edit it, or tap a day to see everything on it. Phones keep the familiar compact view.

A smarter Skip in the timer
During a break, Skip now takes you straight to your next focus and keeps your session going, instead of ending the whole run. Finished a focus early and don't need the break? The new "Skip break" shortcut sends you right back to focusing — and still counts the focus you completed.

New tasks remember your filter
When you've filtered Today to a project, tasks you add there now land in that project automatically.

More honest goals & stats
Project goals and completion counts now measure your real, finishable work: recurring habits no longer pad the totals, and skipped tasks are no longer counted as done. Goal bars move accurately and reach 100% only when a project is genuinely complete.

Fixes
• The Garden's "Switch view" list now scrolls, so every option is reachable.
• macOS: Garden artwork now loads reliably.

### 1.0.8 — 2026-07-09

The timer's title is now a task picker — choose what this session is for without leaving the screen.

• Pick from today's open tasks, anything overdue, or Just Focus with no task
• The picker locks while a session runs; switching during a pause asks first and keeps the focus time you finished
• The choice lasts the session only — a fresh launch starts at Just Focus
• The timer now fits the smallest phones instead of running off the bottom

Local-first: no ads, no account, works offline.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-06-24

Pro is on sale — for a limited time, unlock Focus4Life Pro at a reduced price, with the original price shown so you see exactly what you save.

  • Limited-time discount on Pro — a one-time purchase, yours for life
  • Have an offer code? Tap “Redeem a code” to apply your discount
  • Still no ads, no account, fully offline — and the free 7-day Pro trial is unchanged

Thank you for focusing with us. We’d love your feedback.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-06-22

Makes repeating tasks reliable and easier to manage.

  • Fixed: creating a repeating task (Daily, Weekdays, Weekly, or
Monthly) no longer adds a duplicate on its start day — you get
    exactly one task per day.
  • Monthly repeats now schedule correctly into the months ahead.
  • Open any task to see its repeat schedule, and change or turn off
    repeating whenever you like.
  • Deleting a repeating task now asks whether to remove just that day,
or this and all future occurrences — just like your calendar.

Choose when a repeat ends
Repeating tasks now work like your calendar. When you set a task to repeat, you can choose when it stops:
  • Never — keeps going for as long as you need
  • On a date — ends on a day you pick
  • After a number of times — stops after a set count

Thank you for helping us keep Focus4Life calm and dependable.
