### 3/5 — Will not connect to desktop app

*2025-12-12*

I love my scarlet solo 4th gen, but the connection process between the iPhone and the Desktop apps are nearly impossible to get working. I hope for a fix here soon!

**Developer response:** Hi, sorry you're having an issue with connection. I recommend contacting our support team via our website as they should be able to help with this.

### 2/5 — connectivity + reliability needs work

### 2/5 — Doesnt work for me

### 1/5 — Updated Due to Developer's Quick Response

UPDATE 4

Now it won't connect at all, so we're back to one star. I re-installed it on both my Algorithmic Computing Machines™️, both the semi-mobile and mobile computing units, and it just won't connect for anything, by Jove. Is it angry or cross with me?

My 18i20 is still great. To my 18i20 I say, "Sorry I had to give your remote algorithm a bad review, old pal."

I still like Sandwiches®️, though.

UPDATE 3

Nothing new to report, just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I'm doing fine. I had a nice sandwich for lunch, might go out to a Mexican restaurant with the family tonight.

Cheers!

UPDATE 2

Focusrite Control 2 seems to be connecting now. Maybe there was an update. Maybe it's Maybelline!

Anyhoo, revised this to 5 stars because it is my friend.

UPDATE 1

My review below is superseded by this one. The developer responded quickly, so that warrants an addition of stars. Unfortunately, I still spend more time connecting than controlling.

However, I'm happy with my new interface. My 1st Gen 18i6 served me well for over a decade, and now my 4th Gen 18i20 is my very special friend. It sounds great and has bouncy lights.

OLD REVIEW, ISSUE SOMEWHAT FIXED

It has to reconnect every 2-3 minutes, and that's if you're successful in connecting in the first place.

In a given hour, I spend 55 minutes trying to connect, 5 minutes with an actual connection.

It also crashes often, more than I did in my high school drivers' ed class. That makes me sad and hurt with myself bigly and yuge.

Awful! Terrible! Boo hiss!

But the Scarlett 18i20 is great. It is my friend

### 2/5 — Channel names?

*2025-08-31*

I’ve gotten it to connect and work just fine. Is there not a way to add names of the channels in the app? I was hoping a cheat sheet wouldn’t be necessary. Also it’d be nice if it didn’t default to (Mix A) when you open it. Otherwise, the app is great and does what it should no problem. Thank you please help!

### 1/5 — Why Bother

*2025-07-25*

Why have an iPad app that does nothing more then link to your pc. I am inputting to the Scarlett Solo and out to an iPad Pro usb-c. No reason or benefit to getting my MacBook into the mix.

### 1/5 — This app is terrible!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with iOS 18

*2025-07-17*

When I first bought my 4th Gen interface, FC2 on my phone worked fine alongside the desktop version. Since updating to iOS 18, it has not worked. I’ve deleted it from my phone numerous times and reinstalled it but it still doesn’t work. After allowing it to find devices on local networks, it asks if my phone and computer are on the same network (yes they are). Then it tells me it couldn’t connect - despite the phone and computer being just inches apart. The help page (which hasn’t been updated for 9 months) doesn’t help. I try again each time the desktop version gets updated but it’s just a waste of time. It was nice to have it for the short time it worked, but now it’s clearly time to give up on this app.

**Developer response:** Hi, I'm very sorry to hear you're having problems connecting to the desktop app. Please contact us via our website and our support team will be happy to help get this resolved.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2025-07-06*

Can not control the newest 4th gen Scarlett 18i16 with the iPad app. It only works as a remote controller for the desktop version. I bought this to use as an iPad interface.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thanks for checking out the app. You are quite right that this is a remote control app, allowing Scarlett 4th Gen owners to control their interface when they are away from their computer, for example, behind a drum kit. However, I understand your need for direct control if you are making music directly on your iPad and we'll certainly take this under consideration.

### 2/5 — PLEASE ALLOW FOR DIRECT CONNECTION VIA USB FOR MY 18i8

*2025-06-28*

I haven’t gotten this to work on my IPad even when my Mac has the focusrite control app on but I honestly could care less. I make music on iOS using GarageBand and on iPad using Logic Pro. PLEASE could you guys make an update allowing my 18i8 to be operated from my iPad via usb? I haven’t recorded anything yet but I know it’s going to be very tedious and annoying to have to connect my 18i8 to my Mac just to activate any settings. Allowing direct usb connection to my iPad would be perfect to avoid that. Thank you.

**Developer response:** Hello,

This app is a remote control for Scarlett 4th Gen owners to control their interface when they are away from their computer, for example, behind a drum kit.

I'm sorry you've had trouble using your 18i8 on your iPad. Whilst not officially supported by us, the 18i8 can pass audio in and out of the iPad using Apple's Core Audio driver. There isn't a way to set up routing/mixing on your 18i8 directly from the iPad; I understand it is inconvenient to connect the 18i8 to your Mac to set this up, but once setup correctly, the settings will remain on the 18i8 and you'll be able to use it with your iPad. If you need further help, our support team are on hand via our website.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with clarett+

*2026-07-23, version 1.15.0*

I tried several times - it says my interface isn’t compatible with the app. It works on a computer app, but not on my phone. According to info my interface (Clarett+) is compatible. But it’s not. Confusing.

### 1/5 — App does NOT support 3rd Gen devices - despite its manual

*2026-07-23*

Do NOT update your focusrite desktop app if you’d like to use the focusrite iOS app with a 3rd gen device - it will not work - even though focusrite documents that it would.
Don’t let them fool you, wait until they’ve fixed this. Totally unacceptable that focusrite issues faulty documentation and encourages 3rd generation owners to update.

### 1/5 — QR SCAN NEVER WORKS

*2026-07-07*

Tried everything on the planet and could NEVER get the app to connect for control. Ridiculous

### 1/5 — Useless

*2026-06-23*

For basic stereo control, it’s fine. But for multi-channel audio, (MCA) it’s useless. Problem 1: The app can’t be oriented horizontally. That’s totally unacceptable. For those of us working in MCA, we need quick visualization reference of our channels. Horizontal allows more real estate. Problem 2: The monitoring tab of the app still only gives you one knob. You get these options for control: a master knob, mute, dim, main and alt. The alt mix still only gives you a single master knob. No virtual control for each channel. Why? Seriously…why? Why engineer and manufacture an interface capable of MCA and develop such a lackluster virtual controller? How does this make any sense? When I compare this to Audient’s ORIA MCA controller app, I can’t help but wonder what went wrong. I don’t want to go to my mix tab to “control” my channels since I’m not mixing. I want to “control”. I do my mixes ITB and with real control surfaces. I use Icon’s Pro G2 and two EX G2’s. If the interface itself had output control, that would be fine. In-fact, I’d prefer that over an app. But, no such control on the unit. So, no output channel control on the unit and no output controls in the app. Why not a simple 5.1 and 7.1 template with 6 or 8 corresponding buttons? Is Focusrite telling us in 2026 that they can’t virtualize SPL’s SMC? Adding these features to the app would really give Focusrite a massive, hard to refuse edge as incentiveware over MOTU and other competitors. Especially UA. Hey Focusrite, it would be in yours and the users best interest to make this happen in a matter of a few hours or two days tops. I’m not asking for physical buttons on the interface. That requires a whole new device with R&D, schematics, new costs, etc. No! Just asking for a decent virtual controller to…you know, match what your hardware can already do! 😒So here is all that’s needed in the monitoring section: These are simple virtual buttons btw:

-Mute all
-dim
-Mono LS/RS
-Mono L/R
-Stereo mix
-Surround mix
-L
-C
-R
-LS
-RS
-LFE
-giant knob

Hope to see this happen. Hope to see such an awesome unit get the control it deserves.

### 1/5 — Mies

*2026-03-15*

Gute Hardware, katastrophaler Support.

### 1/5 — Demo

*2025-12-02*

The demo does not work. I select a unit to demo and cannot get a demo to start. I want to evaluate before purchasing

### 1/5 — 4th gen 2i2 showing not supported

*2025-11-21*

I bought my interface thinking it is supported as it is latest version, but tried iPhone, iPad, both showing not supported.

### 1/5 — and only over wifi not usb even on Gen4

*2025-10-03*

and very very sadly 🤷🏼‍♂️it does not work at all over usb🤩like it should be normal not even the gen4 why is it not possible 🤣🤦

### 1/5 — Only for Gen4 devices

*2025-09-22*

Sadly this only works with Gen 4 devices. Gen 3 cannot be controlled even if this is stated on the packaging ☹️

### 1/5 — Assurdo!

*2025-09-17, version 1.10.3*

Non riesco più a controllare la mia scheda del mio iPad.

### 5/5 — 苹果手机和福克斯特都太强了

### 5/5 — Very useful

*2025-10-17*

I think this is a great app. No trouble connecting. I think people only leave reviews for these things when they don’t work, but for me this is very useful as a solo producer.

### 5/5 — Użyteczna aplikacja

Aplikacja działa dobrze i jest bardzo użyteczna

UPDATE 5

Oh boy, I really did it this time, and good!

So the app isn't connecting to my phone because there's a VPN in my phone. It's in there, doing silly little things, and one of the things it's doing is not allowing me to connect to this app. My review is back up to FIVE GOLDEN STARS. I gave the one star review to the VPN because it's being very nasty and hurtful to me. Apologies all around!

As I write this, I am staring longingly at my 18i20. It is my friend.

### 5/5 — Great

*2024-12-30*

Solid products and software integration

### 5/5 — Vision Pro Compatibility

*2024-12-07*

Please allow for VisionOs compatibility. Otherwise the app works well

### 5/5 — Excellent integration - surprisingly quick setup

*2024-10-12*

An excellent new feature for my Scarlett. Super quick to set up, no issues yet with my Scarlett 4th Gen 4i4. Can’t wait to test it more for real world uses.

### 4/5 — This is a 5 star app, except for…

*2026-04-30*

Connects every time: 5 stars (it connects thought your router/wifi and your MacOS network, if you are having trouble it’s you, not them)

This app means you can get away without a separate analogue mixer, control headphone mixies, monitor direct inputs, and set mic levels from across the room (like when behind my drum set)
Between this and Logic Remote, I’m living in the future)

But please, and you’ve heard this is a common request, and couldn’t be that hart to add to the next update (development pipeline be dammed):
Remember the last mix we had selected when we last open the app!!! Seriously 😤

Naming mixes would be nice as well
