### 2/5 — Clarrett 8PreX

*2022-01-25, version 1.0.10*

A bit of an interesting app has control but can’t seem to do everything. I also see there was a talkback added, is this only for some of the interfaces? Nice tool but not very useful unless maybe you allow someone to control their headphones on their own.

### 2/5 — Would be nice if we could choose the inputs we want to monitor

*2021-03-08, version 1.0.10*

Nice app...but I am frustrated that if I want to select a specific input to monitor, I can’t do that in this app. I have to do that on the Mac app.

If you could give us the ability to select inputs from within the iOS/iPadOS app...or even load snapshots or presets...this could be a 5 star app.

### 2/5 — No Gain Adjustment

*2021-02-12, version 1.0.10*

I’m new to the Focusrite interface world but my buddy had a Scarlett, so I thought I’d upgrade and try a Clarett. Downloaded the app...

Problems.

Constantly reconnecting. Not sure why...just won’t stay logged onto my device.

Also...no gain adjustment feature.

The while point of having it is to be away from the my interface...so having gain adjustment linked to the app would be perfect. Similar to Apogees.

All in all not my fave.

### 1/5 — Won’t connect

*2021-01-11, version 1.0.10*

Doesn’t matter which WiFi I use. It won’t connect. Useless.

### 1/5 — Won’t even open

*2020-11-12, version 1.0.10*

Keeps crashing. How is this useful?

### 1/5 — do not download

*2020-10-09, version 1.0.10*

meters sometimes have a mind of their own, for me they shoot to max volume randomly and unexpectedly. it happened while i was in the other room and blew one of my monitors. i have a brand new phone with no other issues. i highly advise against using this app

### 1/5 — Token App

*2020-09-16, version 1.0.10*

This is a joke. I can’t recall snapshots. Can’t control the op level of linked channels. Can’t adjust the input gains. Can’t really do balls. The only thing I might use is the talkback button to get control down by my hands. Otherwise does no good at all.

### 1/5 — Does nothing for me

*2020-08-14, version 1.0.9*

I don’t have a mac, only an iPad Air 2. I installed this iOS app and it will not find or pair with my Scarlett ii2 3rd gen and I can’t get any sound out of it!
The Scarlett sees both the mic and instrument inputs as does hardware input and output on AUM. I’ve been fighting this for many hours and I’m totally frustrated! I’ve searched the focusrite website and find NO solutions. Feeling like it was a mistake to buy the Scarlett to begin with. Maybe Behringer has a unit that will work?

### 1/5 — UNRELIABLE

*2020-07-26, version 1.0.9*

This app is very unreliable and support info does not address the issue. Sometimes my iPad finds the device, but MOST of the time it does not.

### 1/5 — Newest update crashes app

*2020-07-20, version 1.0.9*

They added monitor controls for the 18i20 and they used to work fine. Even before that it worked as expected but the newest update now crashes app when selecting the monitor control portion of the app. Too bad almost made me want to keep this interface. Looks like I’ll dust off the old motu avb interfaces and get them racked again. This thing is trash anyway. Was just convenient to have in my upstairs server rack. Thumbs down. Oh and I’ve used this 18i20 for the past 2 years without issues.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2020-07-13, version 1.0.9*

Horribly inadequate. This is what Focusrite offers as means for controlling their audio interfaces. No support for IOS IPad platform. Terrible support

### 2/5 — Oooooo, digital!

*2020-05-02, version 1.0.5*

Oooooooo, digital control when you want analog. The face of my Focusrite has a dedicated, labeled ,physical control on the face of it. Why? Have a digital version ? You can’t use the software without purchasing the physical controls of the interface. But here, they’ve made the controls digital. That’s right ! It’s true there’s no further set of controls in the app over the physical controls but they could have. They might? , Someday? Never.
This app is the perfect place to put plugins for reverb at the very least. This would have allowed Jamkazamers , Podcasters, would be YouTube video makers or live streamers to have a tiny bit of reverb easy and on the go without diving into any DAW crappola. Focusrite has a free plugin package able to be accessed through your DAW /recording software only and it’s easily accessed in 32 EASY steps. It involves licensing , isn’t that great ? So seamless , so musical , so inspiring. That’s why no one ever has problems using digital recording equipment.

### 3/5 — I’m torn.

*2020-04-15, version 1.0.5*

The app is amazing. The system is GREAT! But it only connects randomly. I talked to the costumer service and they are extremely kind... but the app needs an update. Whoever developed it for you guys needs to address connectivity. It is very frustrating because is an amazing idea/tool.

### 1/5 — Completely Unreliable

*2019-05-13, version 1.0.5*

Unfortunately, the app will rarely connect with the Mac version to control the Scarlett 6i6 on the iPhone or iPad; and when it does, lists ghost versions of my Interface on the iPad, one showing up even when the device is powered down, but not actually showing any activity or having any control over it, this selection cannot be deleted, even if the app is deleted and re-installed; the other showing up when the device is powered up, working correctly, but with the exact same name as the non-functional selection. Grrrrrr. It has worked, a couple of times, showing its potential.

Focusrite Control for Mac should be added to the App Store, as this software pairing is in obvious need for persistent, focused, and automatic updating.

### 3/5 — Good app, add USB support

*2019-04-27, version 1.0.5*

IPad pros now have USB ports and you can use your Focusrite interface with them. All I use for recording is my iPad so I would like to control my Focusrite interface directly with my iPad. Can you add support to detect and communicate with interfaces over USB?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t actually control Interface

*2023-12-05*

The app only acts as a remote for the control app running on your computer. I assumed this app would let me use my iOS device to turn on direct monitoring as my computer wasn’t connected at the moment. Apparently not, though. As such I’m not really sure what the point of this app is unless you have a absolutely huge studio that walking across it would really be worse than this app.

Update: the app is actually less useful than I thought when I wrote the above a few months ago. Even if a computer is on and connected and Focusrite control is open, all the app can do is change output levels. It can’t even change between custom mix presets, which is about the only thing I ever want to do with the Focusrite software

### 1/5 — Absolutely unusable, constantly loses connection

*2022-03-06, version 1.0.10*

I am stunned at just how unstable this app is. It takes roughly a full minute to make a connection to the Focusrite Control application running on your computer. Once it finally connects, it maintains a connection for anywhere from 15 seconds to two minutes, and then loses connection again.

I’ve done all the troubleshooting steps, opening ports on my firewall, restarted routers & reconnected… nothing helps. It’s really a shame because remote control of external mixes was one of the selling points for the Focusrite hardware I just got.

I don’t have any such problems with Avid’s Pro Tools control app, which maintains a rock solid connection at all times. So I know it’s possible…

### 1/5 — Doesn’t actually control Interface

*2022-02-13, version 1.0.10*

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2021-08-16, version 1.0.10*

I can’t get into the app nor can I connect the scarlett solo to my iPad without it crashing

I’m on an IPad 11 pro with a usb c to usb c cable.

Could I have a bit of help please and thank you!

### 1/5 — Like the previous review…

*2021-07-22, version 1.0.10*

Not very Mac friendly and would not get past
“Select Device” in the app setup. Now using Logic Remote as a substitute but would really prefer the Focusrite product.

### 1/5 — Oh my God! This is THE most pointless app ever!

*2021-07-09, version 1.0.10*

This does *not* give you the means to adjust your current generation Scarlett's Direct Monitoring, Air, Pad, INST, or input routing options without connecting it to a Desktop PC/Mac and running the Focusrite control panel. Believe it or not, it's just an iOS based remote control for the *desktop* control panel. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Want to use your Scarlett on the road, in your hotel, etc.? Better bring your entire desktop rig with you, if you plan on making changes to *any* of the aforementioned controls. This wouldn't be an issue, if Focusrite hadn't REMOVED ALL OF THE PHYSICAL CONTROLS on their newest generation of Scarlett interfaces. But, yeah. I mean, you can't make this stuff up. 👎🏻

### 1/5 — Just plain doesn't work

*2021-05-23, version 1.0.10*

Please make an update? I've got it to work once, that's it. All of my software is up to date and on same WiFi network.

### 1/5 — Unbelievable

*2021-04-11, version 1.0.10*

That such a great product line can have such horrible iOS apps and NO SUPPORT for the Scarlett line for iPads???? Fix this or sell you company to someone that actually supports music makers!!

### 1/5 — No Support for iPad? Seriously???

*2021-03-23, version 1.0.10*

I have never written a review for any app, good or bad. But imagine my bitter surprise when I figured out that Focusrite Control on an iPad can’t control a Scarlett 8i6 plugged into that iPad!!! Seriously? To do a simple thing like turn off direct monitoring, I had to plug the Scarlett into the MacBook (which also makes me wonder what the Monitor volume knob on the Scarlett is for). Why on earth an existing iOS app CAN’T control a Scarlett plugged into the iPad, when the MacOS version of Control CAN control a Scarlett plugged into the MacBook is just sheer laziness on the part of Focusrite. I see it so often: Inde devs perform miraculous updates to their apps on a regular basis, while corporate devs release half-baked apps and never fix their most glaring obvious flaws. So disappointed.

### 1/5 — Don’t expect this to work anymore

*2021-01-12, version 1.0.10*

On iOS 14 it doesn’t work at all, instantly crashes when you try to open it. Don’t bother downloading it.

### 5/5 — M1 Mac Update

*2022-02-21, version 1.0.10*

P.S.: If you guys do update this app for the M1 Macs, please leave the App Icon as-is; aesthetic still is very pleasing lol

### 5/5 — No longer crashes!

*2018-07-28, version 1.0.3*

It does exactly what it says it will and doesn’t crash.

Original Review:
Unfortunately I’m having the same problem as others. All of my devices and Mac are running that latest software and I can even see all of my settings after the app successfully connects. Sadly it crashes before I can change any setting.

### 5/5 — What more do you need?

*2018-01-03, version 1.0.1*

Works great, I don’t know why the reviews are so low but so far this app does exactly what’s expected from an interface control app.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2017-12-08, version 1.0.1*

I've had many iOS controllers for interfaces and this one just works and has all the features you need. Great app.

### 4/5 — Working well.

*2020-09-15, version 1.0.10*

It crashed a few times on my first attempts to install with my Mac and Clarett 8pre USB, but then it synced fine and now it’s worked pretty well.

### 4/5 — Focusrite is the best... BUT...

*2020-05-28, version 1.0.5*

Love the app but it turns off when the screen turns off... they need to figure out how to override the screen in-app to keep it open when in use and I will give it 5Stars...

Love,
Jordy of SomeKindaWonderful
(Focusrite Clarett 2pre user)

### 4/5 — Please read this request 🙏🏼

*2019-07-31, version 1.0.5*

I would like to set my Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 directly from this app since I use my interface connected to my ipad a lot to live sounding. Please start supporting this...

### 4/5 — Simple and to the point.

*2019-04-21, version 1.0.5*

I love the simplicity of the app. That’s what makes it great. I would give it 5 stars if it showed all 8 inputs for the red4pre where you have a db25 cable connected and need to just make sure line input 5-8 are actually getting a signal from the patchbay. For that I still need to look at the RedNet control. That would be extremely helpful for my workflow. Besides that the app does what it is says it does.

### 4/5 — Quick and easy install!

*2018-10-05, version 1.0.3*

So far, so good! Using iOS 12, iPhone 6S, MacBook Pro running 10.12.6 (Sierra), and Clarett 2pre. Communication is a little slow but overall, pretty solid...

### 4/5 — Add a refresh/rescan button

*2018-03-30, version 1.0.3*

I recommend adding a rescan or refresh button to the app, it loses connection if you leave the app and never reconnects when you return, perhaps allow it to run in the background? It also loses connection for no reason sometimes🙄. Great app other than that, just would like for it to work longer than 3 minutes lol👍
