I don’t typically spend money on subscriptions for these types of things but I did for this app because I used it constantly. I used to just put on a focus timer, my spotify playlist, and start studying. The method was okay, but I didn’t know what I was missing out on! Focustown was recommended through a YT revision/GCSE video. Once I saw a short clip of how it works, I didn’t hesitate to download it. I did 100 minutes straight of studying on my first day for a couple of golden beans. It feels like a game, where studying is crucial to survive and buy new clothes and stuff.🤠 Other than the fact it’s over 600MB on my phone, it’s hands down amazing. This app alongside Quizlet and Gizmo is all I need. Highly recommend (also pls tell me if my english is good, I feel like I suck at english lang😮‍💨). ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Very good but too many updates *2026-09-01, version 2.0.9* At first this app was awesome and I used it all the time. But I think now, there are too many updates and the shop layout is really weird now. I also find that some of the rooms are locked to non-pro users, when previously they were accessible. The AI ads (ads for games that use AI art and AI-generated people playing them) don’t go away and the fact that so much of this app consists of AI (the music, the art) is really annoying and disappointing. However, the app is almost completely made from Ai and is completely ripping off Animal Crossing to profit off of its popularity. There was very little customization you are able to do without paying for their subscription. It’s basically another app that gives you the bare bones of the functions to lure you into a subscription.
