However the developers reliance on within app updates instead of updating the app directly has led to login bugs and offline mode bugs that have rendered it unusable. All despite paying $50/year. ### 4/5 — This app is amazing, although I'm having an issue. *2026-05-01, version 58.1.1* I first would like to say that this app is phenomenal. The first time I downloaded this app and started my first session, three hours went by without my notice. And the fact that they choose each channel based on a person's brain type instead of randomly giving you a plethora of channels to choose from is amazing. However, I am currently having some issues that I would like to address. The first, and most important one, is that I can't begin my sessions. Every time I try, the app says that there is something wrong, and even when I try with a sound that I chose, I'm only able to hear the beginning of the sound before it stops. I also cannot switch from a timed session into a free flow session, there seems to be a problem with that as well. So at the moment, all I can really do with this app, is change the channels, that's it. I know this app hasn't been updated in three years, but I'm wondering if you could at least fix these issues, because I would like to keep this app on my phone. Something about the music just activates my hyper focus in a good way and it's like magic. HOWEVER, lately the playback will randomly stop- especially on the Naturebeat station. This is obviously an unwelcome distraction and the opposite of the point. I mean, here I am frustrated enough to write an App Store review instead of just getting back to work. Developers, please fix this! I checked that I have the latest version and my ios up to date. As a lifetime subscriber who happily traded cash for calm in my squirrel-powered mental circus, I’ll forever salute this app for being the first to successfully cage my distractible gremlins. For years, its science-y beats worked like a cognitive straitjacket – until my rogue hippocampus started Shazam-ing the background tracks. Now when familiar rhythms surface, my focus transforms into a one-brain Broadway show: Is that a 60bpm delta wave mix or the opening number to “Attention: The Musical”? Tragically, my flow state now moonlights as a drumline critic. While I’d still recommend it to anyone whose mind resembles a browser with 427 open tabs, the app’s two-year update hiatus has me wondering if developers ghosted us harder than my executive function at tax time. Five stars for past glory, only three for present reality, and a standing offer to beta test if they ever remember their App Store password. ### 3/5 — Bluetooth is not working for iPhone app *2025-02-10, version 58.1.1* The Bluetooth is not working for this app after the IOS update . Lifetime member disappointed. *2024-10-17, version 58.1.1* For a while, I have noticed odd things with the app. When you press pause, it plays, and when you press play it pauses. But it still worked. However, with iOS 18, the app does not work and lags if you connect a Bluetooth device to it. Mac desktop also does not work. I realized there have been no app updates for two years. No response from their support page or main contact email. The app repeatedly crashes and the screen remains white with no way to fix or restart the app. I tried a few months ago and had this happen so they’re clearly not that bothered, are rich enough and no longer need my money. In this case I was willing to just pay and sign up immediately for a year. It’s a strange way to conduct a subscription model and looking at the reviews the money is in the bank so why bother improving the app anymore, right guys? Update - You’ll notice there have been no updates to this app now for 2 years and no response by the developer to any feedback. Just error every time. ### 1/5 — meh *2024-09-04, version 58.1.1* The service is useful, the app, not so much. Doesn't work (i.e. play) on newer macbooks. Once upon a time it did after the push to "use the app". App on iPhone has the "pause" and "play" button actions reversed. In the app, a right pointing triangle _pauses_ playback, whereas that icon means "play" in virtually every other application (Software & Hardware). Two vertical bars in this app starts playback. However, for $53/year I expect a much higher quality app. The app crashes nearly every time I use it and today it won’t load at all. Will not play over Bose Bluetooth headphones— don't have this issue with any other apps. Additionally, in app "support" link opens to ZenDesk which says "The company you're looking for is no longer using our help center." Hopefully I canceled my subscription in time to not get charged. It was almost impossible to find clear information on how to cancel, and the process involved multiple confusing screens asking me to reconsider. The music they provide helps me get completely lost in my work—I find myself slipping into a flow state where I stay deeply engaged for longer than usual. Whether I’m tackling big projects or need to focus on detailed tasks, it consistently helps me block out distractions and stay productive. Shout out to my favorite channel "Chinchilla." One of the unexpected ways I’ve come to love using Focus@Will is during group activities with my students. Playing it softly in the background creates an amazing working atmosphere. It helps foster focus, creativity, and a sense of calm, even in collaborative settings where energy can run high. This app is way better than Endel or any other focus soundscapes app. The key is you don't even really hear or notice the music if that sense. Highly recommend! Worth the subscription a 100x over. I don’t have to strain to focus. This app just plays in the background and I get stuff done. I listen on my desktop, have it for 20 minute intervals and can go a solid 2 hours without taking a break of just solid working. Totally works! I was doubtful this would work. Figured I’d do the free trial just to test it out. I’ve always tried random classical and focus stations on Amazon, YouTube and Spotify but they never helped me out. I took the quiz and the stations it recommended put my brain in the focus and “get stuff done” mode. I love The Deep when I need to get going on tasks. I switch to Tranquility or Atmosphere in the afternoon once I’m in the groove and just need to focus. There is a subscription, but I would rather pay to have this music than for Spotify or something else. It’s a great tool to have in your toolbox when you have ADHD.
