### 4/5 — Very helpful for this diet but…

*2025-11-21*

It has a lot of helpful tools and I like the variety of recipes, they look like things I’d want to eat even off of this diet. But it drives me crazy that every time I click on a recipe to look/add it, it starts you over at the beginning of the recipes again, I mean if you’re trying to browse through. Even with app background refresh turned off.

I wish the recipe maker also had some common processed ingredients in it, like (insert popular brand) gluten free flour. Which would be commonly used instead of trying to come up with our own version of flour. (Gluten free mainly due to it being low fodmap bc wheat isn’t.)

Thank you :)

**Developer response:** Hi khgdrynn, thank you for your feedback and bringing the recipe scroll glitch to our attention. Our app developers are working on resolving this issue and you should expect this to be fixed in the new update.
Our Food List does have generic tested ingredients. Generic gluten free flour was under "Flour, GF". This has since been edited to spell out the words "gluten free" to be easier to find when searching for ingredients. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We hope this helps! Kind regards, the FODMAP Friendly team

### 2/5 — Access problems

*2025-10-22*

Can’t access it. Keeps asking for a valid email but won’t let me input one

**Developer response:** Hi Treetops66, this was related to an issue with a plugin. This issue has since been resolved, and you should be able to log in without any difficulties. If you continue to have trouble, please reach out to app@fodmapfriendly.com for further support. Kind regards, the FF team

### 4/5 — Worth downloading

*2025-10-02*

So much better than the other fodmap app. This one has all the food listings plus tons of recipes.

### 3/5 — Paid $2.99 to support (not working on iPad mini)

*2025-07-10*

Cannot login from my iPad mini 7th gen. I’m already logged in on my iPhone.

The issue:
1. Using the same password and email, I tried logging in through my iPad mini.

2. It keeps saying verify email when I hit enter.

3. It never sends a verification

4. Why would I have to verify anyways, I already did when I first logged in though my iPhone

**Developer response:** Hi Lost in Tactics,
Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties logging in on your iPad.
Our app is supported with iPad mini 7th gen and users are able to login to multiple devices using the same login.
Our app developers are more than happy to investigate this further for you.
If you are please able to email us at app@fodmapfriendly.com so we may continue the investigation for you.
Looking forward to hearing from you and getting this fixed for you ASAP!
Kind regards, the FODMAP Friendly Team

### 4/5 — Privacy Concerns

*2025-06-30*

I’m going to give this app a try because it was recommended and because I need the help. But there is absolutely no need for my province, city, and full postal code all to be required fields to create an account. As it turns out, my own city and the capital city of my province aren’t available as options anyway (“not found”). I don’t mind entering my country. City & province are pushing it. I resent having to provide my full postal code &/or having to waste time figuring out a fake city & fake PC. If the app helps I’ll keep using it but until that data grab is fixed it will be under protest.

**Developer response:** Hi fivepens,

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We ask our users their location so that we can better understand where our audience are coming from so that we may tailor the experience to suit them. We use a generic database of cities/towns and provinces/states. If you cannot locate yours on there, please choose the next closest to you.
All data is kept strictly confidential and is not shared. You can find more information inside our Privacy Policy.
We thank you again for your feedback and will take this into account during future updates.

Kind regards, the FF team

### 4/5 — Really useful, lacks vegetarian meat alternatives

*2025-04-22*

This app has been really useful to plan meals, I also paid for the recipe making option which isn’t necessary but makes working out whether your meal is fodmap friendly when added together much easier. Would be great to include more vegetarian options within the database such as myco-protein used heavily in Quorn products.

**Developer response:** Hi Jesssss35,

Thank you for your wonderful review. We will take into account your request for testing vegetarian meat alternatives. Users who have purchased the Recipe Maker have the capacity to submit an ingredient for consideration for testing. When making a recipe, search for the ingredient you are after. When it does not appear, you will be prompted to submit an ingredient. Type the ingredient into the text field and click submit!
All submissions are considered by the FODMAP Friendly team in the next round of testing. Happy cooking!
The FF team.

### 4/5 — The Recipe Maker is excellent

*2024-10-06*

The new Recipe Maker makes it really easy to calculate FODMAP stacking, and makes designing my own recipe fun. I am waiting to see how good FODMAP Friendly will respond to missing ingredient submissions. If they do response fast to the submissions and expand their food list, then the app deserves 5 stars.

**Developer response:** Hi Ohyo89,

Thanks for your wonderful review.

Whilst we would like to test all foods and their different varieties, testing is a resource-heavy procedure. We do not charge for our information in the Food List and want to keep this information readily accessible to all users. We therefore are selective in testing; choosing those based on common home cooking ingredients, consumer interest, feedback and food trends.

Your submissions will be considered for testing. It might not be top of the priority list but may make it into the app in the future, so keep your eyes peeled!

Thank you again for your feedback.

Kind regards,
The FF team

### 5/5 — New Recipe Maker is amazing!!!

*2024-09-25*

Can’t believe someone has finally made this feature, what a game changer! Finally I can make my own recipes and not rely on following someone else’s. Thank you!

### 5/5 — FODMAP percentages really helpful!!

*2024-09-21*

I use both this app and the Monash one simultaneously. Both are great apps, but I really appreciate the percentages listed in this app as it makes it easier for me to identify potential stacking issues when eating a meal. I also really appreciate this app is free! Thank you for making this information more accessible, especially to low income folk.

I do wish there was a way to see, at a glance, on the Food List page which foods are pass/fail or which FODMAP it contains. It would make it easier when browsing for low FODMAP foods I could eat instead of having to individually click into each one. Not at all a dealbreaker but would be handy.

Thanks for all you do! x

### 4/5 — Great Resource!

*2024-08-25*

One star reviews are outdated! Definitely worth giving a try. I’m new to low fodmap and trying to learn the basics and this app is super helpful! The recipes section is especially handy.

I do have some feedback, but neither comment is a dealbreaker.

The first is just a mild inconvenience really and that’s that I’m US-based and this app does not pick up on my American spelling in the search results. (I.e. “yogurt” initially came up with no results because it’s “yoghurt”. There’s no “whole milk” because it’s called “full cream”.) It would be NICE if it didn’t filter out my US spelling/lingo or if there were a US language setting, but again it’s not a dealbreaker. I can still find what I’m looking for by clicking on the categories and muddling through. The vast majority of foods are exactly the same so it’s not too much of a problem.

The second is more of an issue that will bug me more as I go along, I’m sure. It would be helpful to have some kind of base ingredients or nutrients or something to compare to on things that are not single ingredients, such as mayo, bread, cookies, etc. How am I supposed to compare what I’m eating to what is listed when there are so many different products/recipes on the market? Especially knowing I’m in the US and the app is likely Australian based where the products aren’t made the same, I feel that adds an extra layer of unreliability when it comes to those foods. Most likely I will not be using those for reference often unless I have no clue where they fall on the fodmap spectrum.

Even still, it’s a very decent database with a lot of helpful information to springboard from - even on the prepared foods it gives a general “guideline” to kind of point you in the right direction, even if it’s not super reliable - and when you’re starting with whole foods and learning fodmap it’s a really great place to begin.

**Developer response:** Hi P31Gal,

Thank you for taking the time to write us such a detailed review.

Since your comment we have made many exciting updates to the app including implementing an intelligent search function that will pick up all types of spelling.

We appreciate your conundrum with multi-ingredient products, and you are correct that the formulations will differ from country to country. Where possible, we try to include as much information about the product as possible, such as the types of flours used in baked goods, or whether the condiment has onion or garlic added.

Our certification program aims to replace this conundrum by testing and certifying packaged foods in all countries. If you have a particular brand you love in your country, we encourage you to reach out to them and put them in contact with us at info@fodmapfriendly.com to get tested and certified.

Kind regards,
The FODMAP Friendly team

### 5/5 — User friendly!

*2024-04-10*

I highly recommend this app. It is easy to use and includes so much detail about each of the individual FODMAPs to help me know what I can eat.

### 5/5 — Fodmap friendly app is better than Monash fodmap app!

*2024-03-21*

This app has been a lifesaver throughout my IBS health journey. I have struggled to understand what FODMAPS are, what foods contain them and how much I can consume to feel well. Thank you to the FODMAP Friendly team for developing a user friendly app with so much simple information based on evidence. I recommend this app to anyone needing support with FODMAPS and IBS 😊😊

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No scan product option and other things

*2026-06-04*

I downloaded this app and does not have any ability to scan for product rather than typing.

Does not have the ability to search by brand name to see if it is FODMAP safe.

Cannot search quite a few things and nowhere to be listed such as Bell peppers. I do shop at No Frills and Loblaws but not finding this app very helpful.

Also I am worry about privacy and not selling my email after signing up .

I live in Canada but this app does not help much as mentioned above.

### 1/5 — Can’t even sign up for an account

*2026-03-02*

I downloaded the app, tried to sign up as a new user, and I can’t because the app doesn’t recognize my city and says it doesn’t exist. Useless.

**Developer response:** Hi Rachel, thank you for your feedback. If you choose the closest city in your area this will be adequate. Kindest, the FF team

### 1/5 — Requires too much personal info to use

*2025-11-08, version 8.8*

I can see an app like this wanting to know the country we live in, or maybe even the state, but you don’t need to know my city and/or zip code. It will not let you continue without creating an account, and you can’t create an account without providing your city and zip code. These should be optional for those who want to find ingredients/products near them (with the ability to both add or rescind it later if you choose), but you should not be forcing people to give out that kind of data. It’s too bad bc I was even considering paying the one-time fee for the recipe creator feature, but that won’t be happening since I can’t even get into the app.

Stop requiring more personal data than people want to give. At minimum, make it optional. Yeah I could just make a location up, but it irked me enough that I’m just saying nope to the app as it stands.

### 1/5 — Won’t accept my email address

*2025-10-05, version 8.8*

I had high hopes, but “FODMAP Friendly” is not friendly to me. It refuses to allow me to create an account with my email address … ***@comcast.net … (replace stars with my name). It says it is not a valid email address. UGH. What is wrong with this app?!

### 1/5 — Fraudulent Undisclosed “in-app” purchases

*2025-08-12*

App Store description does not state it requires in app purchases to use recipe maker. Developer repeatedly and fraudulently stated in response to multiple different reviews it is free e.g. “Developer Response 1y ago
Thank you for this feedback. This has been taken into consideration and the app is now free for all uses :)”

**Developer response:** Hi Dave 365,

We thank you for taking the time to provide your review. We will take on your feedback about our App Store description and look to update this to be clearer that the Recipe Maker is a paid in-app feature.
Regarding the Developer feedback from 1y ago "the app is now free for all users", this was in response to a review from way back in 2017 when users used to have to pay to download our app.
We apologise if this was confusing or misleading.
Our app is now free to download, and users get access to our hundreds of lab-tested ingredients in the Food List, Certified Products, Dietitian Directory, Recipes, Meal Plans and more at no cost.

The only paid feature is the Recipe Maker. For only USD $2.99 for a game-changing tool that exists nowhere else in the market - we feel this is a fairly reasonable price :)

We hope you enjoy the app and if you wish to discuss further, please send us an email at app@fodmapfriendly.com.

Kindest,
The FODMAP Friendly Team

### 1/5 — Wants too much personal info

*2024-12-08*

Not sure I want more spam

I’ll create a new burner email address. FODMAP is a potential issue for me.

Not diagnosed so not willing to get more unsolicited emails

**Developer response:** Hi MiddleRidgeWine,

Thank you for your feedback.
We require a valid email address to complete your registration step.
The personal details including name, city, state, country, we take are to help tailor our service to our users. We do not share any personal information.

*2024-09-28*

But unfortunately the recipe maker keeps crashing so unusable!!!

### 1/5 — Payment

*2024-09-25, version 8.0*

Unable to look at all the new items - asks for payment! Will not use Apple Pay for this!!

### 1/5 — Don’t buy

*2022-12-03*

Was great in the beginning for a month or two and then it stopped working completely

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback and apologies for any inconvenience. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our FODMAP Friendly Team with any questions :)

### 1/5 — Rubbish

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Nicely done.

*2026-02-02*

This is the best app that I have used thus far. Straight forward to use, has most single ingredient foods and no adds.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your great review Tomas_401!

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2025-10-20*

I had some trouble setting up my account at first, but the developer was very quick to respond and got the problem solved. The app is very user friendly, and I like how everything is categorized for easy searches. I’m looking forward to using this app!

**Developer response:** Hi mattiemay17, thank you for your lovely review. We are glad we were able to resolve your issue in a timely manner and hope you enjoy the app!

Kind regards, the FODMAP Friendly team

### 5/5 — FODMAP Stacking information-woo hoo!

*2025-10-05*

TL;DR: Recipe Maker solves stacking; ONLY one time charge of $2.99

I’m just starting FODMAP, which is challenging since identifying short-chain carbohydrates is not intuitive. The biggest hurdle for me has been combining foods into a recipe or meal without stacking FODMAP friendly ingredients together inadvertently making a FODMAP unfriendly meal.
The Recipe Maker calculates the FODMAP load of each individual component, eg monosaccharides vs polyols) so you can remove or substitute ingredients or adjust the volume to develop an overall FODMAP friendly (for YOU) recipe or meal. Stacking mystery solved!!! It requires a little patience to input everything for recipes with a variety of ingredients, but SO worth it! The one time charge (which is not a subscription) is a bargain! The free trial lets you play around with a couple of recipes with some limited functionality, which I found helpful to test it out before purchasing it.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2025-02-19*

I’m a long term user of Monash University’s App but this FODMAP Friendly App has made me a very happy new user. It really is easy to use.

**Developer response:** Hi Notusedever,

Thank you for your great feedback!
Please share with your friends and family!

Kind regards,
The FODMAP Friendly team

### 5/5 — Recipe Maker is so helpful and affordable

*2025-01-22*

I can’t believe it only costs $2.99 to have a FODMAP stacking calculator that allows me and my clients to make our own low FODMAP recipes - you guys should charge more for this! I’m going to tell all my dietitian colleagues, what an incredible evidence based resource!

**Developer response:** We think it's pretty great too!
We want more people following this diet to have confidence in preparing their own foods, so we've kept the price low.
Please share with your clients and colleagues, we would be very appreciative! :)

Kind regards, the FF team

### 5/5 — Love the new features!

*2024-12-16*

But unfortunately the recipe maker keeps crashing! Updated my phone, hopefully that helps!

**Developer response:** Hi there, thank you for your feedback. We are happy to report the Recipe Maker is now functioning correctly. We hope to see you back on the app very soon! The FF team

### 5/5 — Best Fodmap App

*2024-12-14*

I like this app because of the layout and the graphics. It has everything, even recipes. And it’s free!

The foods listed are extensive. I especially value the feature that shows the recommended quantity of the food that you can eat. They show this quantity in both volume and weight.

When you click on a food, the graphics are awesome for the percentages of your daily max in each Fodmap category (sorbitol, mannitol, fructans, GOS, Lactose, Excess fructose.)

**Developer response:** Thank you for your wonderful review FridaRos!

### 5/5 — Chuck

*2024-11-23*

Easy to use

### 5/5 — Update is great

*2024-09-29*

Food list is expanded, more informative. Will be my go to over the other FODMAP Apps I have.

### 5/5 — Demi darling

*2024-09-28*

Fantastic
