## What is Foldic?

Foldic backs up your iPhone photo albums to a USB drive plugged straight into your phone — no iCloud subscription, no computer, no cloud.

REAL FILES, REAL FOLDERS
Every album becomes a plain folder of original photos and videos on your drive. No proprietary library — files you can browse anywhere and keep forever.

MADE FOR USB-C DRIVES
Plug a USB-C drive or SSD into your iPhone, pick a folder, tap Sync All. That's the whole setup.

INCREMENTAL AND RESUMABLE
Foldic skips what's already on the drive, so after the first backup every sync takes moments. Unplug anytime — the next sync picks up exactly where it stopped.

YOUR WHOLE LIBRARY
Back up albums individually, or mirror All Photos organized into year/month folders. Live Photos export both the still and the paired video, and capture dates are preserved.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Runs entirely on your iPhone, sandboxed. No account, no analytics — your photos go from your phone to your drive, nowhere else.

### 0.8.2 — 2026-08-21

Two improvements, both from user feedback.

• Scan All now saves "All Photos" for last. Your other albums finish and show their results first, instead of waiting behind the biggest album in the library.

• Albums being synced move to the top of the list, with the queue right behind them — no scrolling to see what is in progress. This can be turned off in Settings.

• Our developer account has moved. Nothing changes for you, but if iOS asks to allow Photos access again, that is why.

### 0.8.1 — 2026-08-14

A fix for the date correction that shipped in 0.8.

• 0.8 gave backed-up photos their taken-on dates back, and promised existing files would be corrected as each album syncs. But an album that is already fully backed up never syncs again, so its files were never corrected. The correction now also runs during the scan, which every album goes through: open Foldic, run a scan, and your folders browse in date order again.

### 0.8.0 — 2026-08-14

Foldic runs on iPad as a proper iPad app, and your backup can now be proved rather than assumed.

• iPad and iPad mini, natively. Foldic fills the screen instead of running as a phone window, and rotates. Backing up to a USB-C drive is arguably better here than on a phone: a bigger screen and faster transfers.
• Deep Compare — hold an album, or run it for all of them from Settings. Foldic reads every file it has written and checks the contents against your photo library, names anything damaged on the album's row, and repairs it in one tap.
• Files are verified straight after they are written, by default — the check that catches a drive claiming it saved your photo when it did not.
• Backed-up photos carry the date they were taken again. Version 0.7 wrote the moment the download finished, so folders browsed in the wrong order. Existing backups are corrected the next time each album syncs.
• Albums can be left out of syncing, for when the same photo sits in several albums and you would rather not have a copy in each.
• Fixed: a drive with plenty of room could be reported as full, stopping the whole sync. This affected USB drives formatted as exFAT — most of them — after any single file failed.
• New app icon.

• A full backup drive now stops the sync with one clear message, instead of failing every remaining photo one by one with an error that never said "disk full".
• A drive that comes back read-only — the usual aftermath of unplugging without ejecting — is now named as the problem, with the fix.
• A drive that disconnects mid-sync is reported plainly, instead of as a wall of per-file errors.
• Foldic now speaks Korean.
