## What is Folio?

Folio is the beautiful journal you'll actually keep. A calm, minimalist notebook for a page a day.

Some days you fill a page. Some days it's a single line. Folio never nags, and it never makes you feel guilty for skipping. You open it, you write, you close it. A minute is enough.

Most journaling apps ask for too much. Complicated setup, endless features, a streak you're scared to break. That's why so many notebooks end up half-finished. Folio is the calm one you keep coming back to.

A page a day, in about a minute
When the page feels blank, a gentle prompt is there. Write whatever you like, or answer one small question. No essays expected.

Feels like a real notebook
Warm paper, soft type, and covers you'll actually want to open. The feeling of paper, with the convenience of your phone.

Made for quiet moments
A soft night mode for writing before bed, easy on your eyes when the lights are low.

Private by default
Your words, photographs, voice notes, and things to do stay on your device by default. If you turn on backup, Folio copies them only to the personal Google Drive or iCloud account you choose, never to Folio or PurposeLab servers or unrelated third parties. Anonymous analytics and crash reports never include notebook content.

Beautiful, without the work
Curated palettes, papers, and covers that look good the moment you open them. No design skills needed.

Gentle rhythm, not streaks
A quiet nudge when you want one. A simple mood check-in and a light habit tracker help you notice how your days are going, without turning life into a score.

Free, with no ads
Folio is free to journal, and always will be. If you want more, Folio Plus adds extra palettes and papers, yearly reflections, PDF export, and backup to your personal cloud account. Pay monthly, or once for life.

Keep a daily journal, a gratitude journal, a minimalist diary, or just a quiet place to land at night. Folio is a calm home for all of it.

Your words are always yours. Export them anytime.

Start the notebook you'll actually keep.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.11.0 — 2026-08-26

Improved Todo Experience to enable better UX and quick addition and checking.
Added a reflection section for users to reflct on their days.

### 1.9.0 — 2026-08-19

Folio can now keep photographs, voice notes, and things to do alongside each day.

Backup and restore have been rebuilt to make moving or recovering your notebook safer and clearer.

The Today home-screen widget now brings writing and open tasks together.

Plus many careful fixes across the notebook.

### 1.8.2 — 2026-08-06

A quieter way to hear about a new version.

Folio used to interrupt you a few seconds after opening to say an update was ready. Now it just leaves a small mark in the header and a line under More, and waits for you to look. If you ignore it for a few days it will ask once, gently, and never while you are in the middle of writing. Tell it later and it will not ask again about that version.

Plus the usual small fixes to keep things calm.

### 1.8.1 — 2026-08-04

Bookmarked pages. Some days you want to find again. Fold the corner on a page and it keeps a small mark, so a first home or a long-awaited call does not look like an ordinary Tuesday months later. Mark a page while you write it, or press and hold any day in Pages. They gather in Search and in the year view.

A look back when a month ends. Folio shows you what the month held: pages written, your longest run, and how each habit went. When the next one opens, a quiet sheet asks how it should go.

Tags. Write #anything in a page and it files itself, then find it again from Search.

Habits that keep an honest history. Stop a habit and pick it up again later, and the days in between stay exactly as they were. A day in the past shows only the habits you were tracking then. Your daily rhythm stays unbroken across days you did not open the app.

As always: no counts, no streaks, nothing to chase. Thank you for writing with us.

### 1.5.4 — 2026-07-27

Small improvements and bug fixes to keep Folio calm and reliable.

Thank you for writing with us.
