## What is Folire?

Your books should feel at home on your phone. Folire brings the ebooks, PDFs, comics, and audiobooks you already own into one tidy library on iPhone and iPad.

Add a file from Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop, or the share sheet. Folire opens DRM-free EPUB, PDF, TXT, FB2, MOBI, AZW3, CBZ, and CBR books, plus MP3, M4A, and M4B audiobooks. Once imported, they're available offline.

Settle in with a page that fits you. Adjust the type, spacing, margins, and colors, and choose page turns or continuous scrolling. Highlight a line, write a note, bookmark a passage, and pick up where you left off. Audiobooks remember your place too. Any book can be read aloud with the built-in system voices. On a compatible iPad, mark up PDFs with Apple Pencil.

The free library holds up to five of your own books. Folire Pro is a one-time purchase for a larger library and the tools that help you go further: natural on-device neural narration for every book, auto-scroll, custom fonts and reading presets, full-library search, questions and recaps that stop at your current page, annotation export, detailed reading history, direct downloads, connections to your own OPDS, Calibre, or WebDAV library, and optional iCloud sync. Reading Assistant uses only text you've already read and processes it on your device.

No account, ads, tracking, or developer-operated server. Your library stays on your device unless you choose to sync it to your private iCloud storage or connect to a server you supply. Export a complete backup whenever you need one.

Folire includes four public-domain classics to start reading, but no book catalog. It can't open DRM-protected files. Optional tips support development but don't change what the app unlocks.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 0.1.9 — 2026-10-28

New: CarPlay and fixed-layout books.

• Listen in CarPlay. Your audiobooks and books read aloud are listed with the ones you opened last at the top. Choose one to pick up where you left off.
• Picture books, comics, and other fixed-layout books show each page whole, as published, with two-page spreads in landscape. Pinch to zoom in on a page.
• The Lock Screen and Control Center show the chapter you're listening to, with the book's cover. While a book is read aloud, the skip buttons move about 15 seconds.
• Turning your iPhone after changing the text size keeps your place.
• The tap and swipe guide fits on screen in landscape.
• On the folded iPhone Duo, the next-page arrow sits at the screen edge.

### 0.1.8 — 2026-10-23

New: iPhone Duo support.

• Unfolded, books open as two pages side by side, as they do on iPad in landscape. The folded cover display and portrait screens show one page. Choose Single or Double in Appearance anytime.
• Folding, unfolding, and rotating keep your place on the page.
• Reader controls no longer cover the first line of text on iPhone Duo.
• Reading panels open at full height on wide screens, so every setting is in reach.

### 0.1.7 — 2026-10-17

• Try the natural neural voice as much as you like in the included classics. Folire Free's one neural book stays free for a book of your own.
• The neural voice download now appears at the top of the Listen panel.
• Fixes for library search, collections, series numbers, and tags, and for bookmarks, highlights, and rotation in the reader.

### 0.1.6 — 2026-10-12

• New on-device neural narration with 15 natural English voices. Download the voice pack once from Settings. Folire Free can try it on one book; Folire Pro unlocks every book and voice. Requires iOS 26.4 or later.
• Folire Free can now listen to any book with the standard system voices.
• Start narration from any word with Listen from Here, and playback now begins near where you're reading.
• Narration has lock screen controls with book cover art, plus an option to keep playing alongside music or other audio at a lower volume.
• Page turns now animate across chapter boundaries, and swiping down closes the book.
• Tap-and-hold text selection and highlighting are more reliable.
• Reader search results are easier to open.
• iCloud sync no longer interrupts narration or moves an open book.
• The reading ruler has been removed.
• Other fixes and performance improvements.

### 0.1.5 — 2026-09-30

Make your reading setup easier to customize:
• Edit, rename, and duplicate reading presets, or save adjustments from a book’s Appearance screen.
• Pause iCloud library sync on an individual device. Changes are retained and sync when you turn it back on.
• Light, Dark, and Match System appearance changes apply immediately.

This update also improves reader loading, keeps chapter titles within the toolbar, saves reading-status changes reliably, and makes the entire search-result row tappable.
