*2025-05-06, version 2.0.1*

### 2/5 — Well designed app that is apparently abandoned

*2025-03-16, version 2.0.1*

First off, why doesn’t iOS have built-in font management? Zero stars to Apple for even creating the need for an app like this. Somehow I’ve managed to use an iPhone for 17 years without needing to install fonts, but 🤷‍♂️. As for this app, it’s well designed, but I can’t get past the point of installing the profile. So, on the current iOS version (I’m on 18.3) this app does nothing, and as other reviews suggest, it appears to be abandoned. What really disappoints me is the only reason I learned it exists is from a *new* app from a developer I trust — IconFactory’s Tapestry app. Tapestry recommends this app as a way to install fonts, but… nope! Very disappointing all around.

### 3/5 — Bof

*2024-09-16, version 2.0.1*

### 3/5 — I like what it does but the scope is too limited for my purposes

*2024-09-09, version 2.0.1*

I installed Fontcase with the purpose of editing a photo using a specific font in mind, as the native iOS photo editor has extremely limited options and was insufficient for a meme I was attempting to compose 🧐 Anyhoo, while Fontcase did deliver on adding the font to my system as it promised, it left out that it only applies to a select few system apps, Photos not included.

### 4/5 — Tut was es soll & kommt mit ausführlicher Erklärungen

*2024-07-19, version 2.0.1*

Wunderbar einfach statt diesem iOS Rumgef**** 🫣🫨

### 3/5 — Works but not very useful

*2024-06-26, version 2.0.1*

The fonts cannot be used in Safari and show up in barely any app.

### 5/5 — IT WORKS ON KINEMASTER

*2024-04-08, version 2.0.1*

This 3rd party app was an absolute banger for iOS. It worked on KineMaster.

### 3/5 — Faire une mise à jour !

*2024-03-13, version 2.0.1*

Bonjour,
Merci

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2024-02-12, version 2.0.1*

Excellent app

### 3/5 — Solid but issues

*2023-12-13, version 2.0.1*

The good: this is the only app which had consistently worked in adding new fonts onto an iPad. The bad: can’t remove fonts and if there is an issue with a file then you can no longer install new fonts. The help tab has nothing to say on how to delete or have any troubleshooting instructions for the app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Didn’t work

*2026-02-10, version 2.0.1*

Title

### 1/5 — Didn’t work for me

*2025-06-30, version 2.0.1*

I wasn’t able to install any fonts due to a Safari error. I wanted to contact the devs via their app support link on this page but it sent me to a website that doesn’t include this app in their selection. Very odd. Think twice about installing this app.

### 1/5 — Funktioniert

*2025-04-25, version 2.0.1*

nicht. Fonts lassen sich
Trotz Profil nicht auf dem Gerät installieren. App nutzlos!

### 1/5 — It doesn’t work now!

*2025-04-17, version 2.0.1*

I’ve followed the instruction to import fonts and install this Fontcase profile to settings. However, the fonts just don’t appear in notability app no matter how many times I restart iPad…

### 1/5 — Pointless

*2024-12-06, version 2.0.1*

Spent hours adding fonts but now can’t even open the app without it crashing inmediately. No support email. Pointless.

### 1/5 — Install instructions incorrect

*2024-08-22, version 2.0.1*

Not really sure if it’s related to iOS version or phone model or what, but I can’t get further than installing the profile. It seems to have installed just fine when I view it in the VPN & Device Management menu, but the ‘Profile Downloaded’ button simply does not exist and there is no ‘Profiles’ menu/button in General either. Huge bummer

### 1/5 — Ne fonctionne pas

*2024-04-24, version 2.0.1*

### 1/5 — app does not import selected fonts

*2024-01-25, version 2.0.1*

I am used earlier iOS 17.2, and now iOS 17.3, and the Profile showed up in VPN and ..., but it would then disappear before I could do anything with it, like clicking it to select that Profile.

This app does not work on iOS 17.2 nor iOS 17.3. Can you tell me how to make the app work?

### 1/5 — Unable to download config file, payload error

*2024-01-07, version 2.0.1*

I tried to install, received the following

“ Profile Error
The payloads in this profile do not have unique
Payload identifier values. ("com.iconfactory.xfonts.Ade-
gail" is used more than once.)”

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — A full truck of gratitudes

*2025-12-27, version 2.0.1*

It’s about 6-12 months since I installed your app. I use it to embellish my Obsidian on iPad with new fonts. It wasn’t easy at first, but now the process from downloading to seeing a new font in Obsidian takes about 3 minutes. Thank you for that. It is a really helpful thing, given how hard it is to dance around the whimsy requirements of the OS.

### 5/5 — the only app you need

*2025-11-09, version 2.0.1*

with a size smaller than 1 MB and completely free, this app does exactly what it advertised, shaming the costly and heavy alternatives in the App Store. I tried lots of other apps. This is the one. It’s one of those “will never delete” apps. Thank you devs.

### 5/5 — Funciona muy bien

*2025-08-18, version 2.0.1*

Muy fácil e intuitiva. He podido instalar las fuentes sin ninguna dificultad

### 5/5 — The only Fonts app I trust

*2025-05-22, version 2.0.1*

My perspective from a long career in security at Microsoft and Google: Fontcase is a free, open-source app that is well-regarded by a trusted ecosystem of iOS indie app developers.

Because iOS requires installing a management profile to load custom fonts, Font apps present significant security risks: profiles can include malicious permissions, or it could embed the font itself with an identifier to track all your web browsing.

I suspect that most of the top Font apps, free or paid, have both the incentive and the means to include such malicious content.

Because Fontcase is open-source, it provides an additional barrier to abuse by making a public claim as to its safe functionality. This makes it easier to audit the code for unintentional abuse vectors and to compare actual behavior with stated (open-source) behavior.

Fontcase is the only Fonts app I trust and use. It's also distributed by a company with no current interest in monetizing it. I took a look at some of the lower-star reviews, and I suspect that most of the negative reviews are abusive attempts to squash Fontcase coming from "competitors" (i.e. the top-rated Fonts apps who have a business model dependent on selling you their app or harvesting your data via tracking).

### 5/5 — Best app for custom font downloads

*2025-03-30, version 2.0.1*

This app is super easy to use, and I used this instead of iFont, which costs money. But this app is free and it was very easy to install my custom fonts and download them to my profile and I could use them for all my note taking apps. Thank you so much!

### 5/5 — Lovely

*2024-11-30, version 2.0.1*

Worked fine on ipados 18, and I was able to get my Jetbrains Mono TTFs installed

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-11-09, version 2.0.1*

A must have app for ios if you deal with different scripts and languages

### 5/5 — Brilliant! Ad free and open source.

*2024-09-22, version 2.0.1*

It's awesome. You can select loads of fonts at once, preview the full character set, pick them from anywhere on your phone, and it's really fast. Much better than the free alternative I was using before.

### 5/5 — Clutch!

*2024-09-06, version 2.0.1*

I was scouring the App Store for a 3rd party app to install a very niche traditional Chinese/zhuyin font on my new iPad Air. Thank goodness Reddit recommended this app: super fast & easy installation, and now I can use the font on Pages! None of the other apps I found worked or were behind a pay wall — this app came in clutch!

### 5/5 — Works! No-nonsense! Free!

*2024-06-19, version 2.0.1*

With this I was able to install TrueType fonts that I made and use them in my terminal app. Thanks for making an app that works!
