It worked well for many years but recently it’s stopped working. When a font is imported utilizing one of the font sites Fonteer recommends, the font that's added is always 'empty' so no font has really been added. Using other tools I can see that the font is really there...but it seems like Fonteer just doesn’t see it. **Developer response:** Thanks for your review. If I want to import, for example, Sophia Pro I have to do this once for each of the sixteen sub-fonts: open files, navigate to font, select one (selecting all of them does not work), press share, find then select the app, then select the collection. By the time I figure it out and made me a collection to install before I could see if it would work it told me I was out of install to upgrade. The instruction with this app and iOS 13 are hard to figure out. So I guess I’ll keep looking until I find a app that I can use and figure out before I buy. ### 1/5 — Not a good app *2019-05-02, version 1.4.2* Takes a great deal f time to figure out. If this doesn't work please contact apple support (https://support.apple.com/contact) ### 3/5 — Looks like this will be helpful but only in a few apps *2018-08-27, version 1.4.1* I just downloaded Fonteer to use with Assembly... but at this point you have’t suppported it yet. The developer of Assembly is a fabulously smart guy and I hope you will quickly work with him to incorporate Fonteer collections into My Fonts in Assembly. When that happens, I’ll be a five star reviewer! ### 1/5 — Not worth the time. *2018-07-13, version 1.4.1* I’ve installed the the app & the fonts and it’s saying I’m not signed into my profile. Not sure what that means. I followed all the steps & it’s not working. ### 2/5 — I hope it improves *2018-04-10, version 1.4.1* Too long to set up. Im unsure what the steps the app makes me take are opening me up to in terms of security. **Developer response:** Thanks for your review. I am glad you voice your concerns about security. Unfortunately, using configuration profiles is currently the only way to install fonts on iOS. The profiles can only be installed via the default email app or Safari (Fonteer runs a temporary local webserver to accomplish this). We deliberately choose not to sign the profiles since this would require to send the profile to a third party (and would technically be less secure than keeping everything local). You can (and should) check the contents of a profile in Settings before installing it; in case of Fonteer it will only contain fonts (and will not be a security risk to install). Fonteer makes it easy to manage multiple fonts and sync them across your iOS devices. This in combination with the required configuration profile makes it a little more than a few clicks to set up, but for most users will be more than worth it. That said, we're always looking for ways to improve the app (and make it easier for less demanding users as well). ### 4/5 — So far, it is good *2018-02-24, version 1.4.1* I was looking for a good font manager to use with my iPad Pro. Thankfully, I found this app. By default, it can add fonts from Google Fonts and Font Squirrel. But if you are looking to use DaFont, simply use your web browser, click download, and select view with Fonteer. Unfortunately, the app crashes when you are adding fonts to a folder and then attempt to switch to a different folder. Also, it would be nice if you could download a font at a time; instead of the entire folder. Otherwise, well done. Thank you. **Developer response:** Thanks for the wonderful feedback! For some reason it always opens some site upon installing apps, so look out for that. I would recommend using a reliable VPN when using this app, however. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work *2023-01-18, version 1.5.3* I selected the fonts to install and followed the instructions it listed, but none of the fonts I “install” show up in the Fonts section of Settings, nor any apps that use custom fonts. I don’t know if this is an iPadOS 16.2 issue or an app one, but still disappointing nonetheless :( **Developer response:** Hi, thanks for your response. Since iOS14 fonts installed via configuration profiles (the method Fonteer) uses no longer show up in the fonts section in Settings. However, they can still be accessed by other apps! You can check which fonts you installed under ‘VPN & Device Settings’ and check the contents of the profile. You can also check Apple’s Pages app, in which you can use the fonts installed via Fonteer. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2021-12-05, version 1.5.3* App loads fonts into a vpn profile while iOS 15 cannot seem to recognize as fonts. I’ve followed the directions several times and even had someone else do it. I get through the whole process and it won’t let me add the fonts as a third-party keyboard. Kind of a disappointing app. **Developer response:** Hi Kayla, Thanks for your feedback. Fonteer does NOT add a keyboard, because keyboards do NOT enable you to use different FONTS*. Fonteer allows you to install fonts that then become available to other apps. Unfortunately not all apps allow you to freely choose a font. See the list in the app description or in-app instructions for apps that DO allow you to use installed fonts. If your intention is to use different fonts in iMessage or email, you can have a look at ‘text hipster’. This app allows you to create small images from text, so you can use styles you can’t use by plain text. *There ARE apps that install keyboards allowing you to type different characters. This is by no means a different font, but can create a funny effect nonetheless. Please note that most developers respond quicker when you contact them directly. Hope this was helpful. Both devices are up to date in terms of operating systems (iOS 13) and Fonteer worked perfectly without any issues. I loaded 20 new fonts and then opened 2 different programs (Pages & PDF Expert) on each device (phone & iPad) to see which fonts would carryover. Surprisingly all 20 fonts showed up on each program on both devices. I went ahead and checked to see if each font worked properly and looked as they should = 100% satisfied. Fonteer was easy to use and they have a great array of different fonts. Very satisfied!
