## What is Food Intolerance Tracker?

Anyone who has ever suffered from a food intolerance knows just how hard it can be to diagnose, identify and manage their intolerance(s).

Combining sophisticated mathematics, machine learning (A.I.) and an easy to use user interface our Food Intolerance Tracker app (F.I.T.) can help you do just that!

Developed by food intolerance sufferers for food intolerance sufferers we wanted a solution where we did not have to spend ages entering data just to get a vague indication of what the problem might be. Instead we wanted to enter just enough information to allow an advanced machine learning (A.I.) to diagnose our intolerances for us.

Before discussing the features of this app further we feel it is important to stress that a food intolerance is not the same as a food allergy and we would urge anyone reading this that thinks they may have a food allergy to consult a food allergy specialist as soon as possible to confirm whether this is the case and to ensure you do not accidentally consume something that may trigger an extreme reaction. Food allergies can have fatal consequences!!!

Food intolerances are surprisingly common, notoriously hard to diagnose and poorly understood. This app aims to help you diagnose and manage any food intolerances you might have while making it as easy as possible for you to enter your information.

As a quick example:
Say you like Joe Mo's pepperoni pizza and want to record that you ate this a couple of hours ago. Simply enter Joe Mo's pepperoni pizza as the title, set the time and date you ate this and then select all the ingredients you think are contained in the pizza from a list. For a pepperoni pizza we might select lactose, casein & whey for the cheese, gluten, wheat, yeast for the base, additives for the topping.
You only have to do this once as the system will remember the title and all the ingredients associated with it.

The app will analyse all these ingredients individually and can even detect multiple intolerances. For our pizza example it may detect both a lactose and gluten intolerance.

Note: As you might expect a minimum amount of information mist be entered before the app can give a meaningful analysis. The minimum amount of data required varies from individual to individual but is typically a month or so.

Before purchasing this app please read the article on our web site as it provides far more purchasing guidance than we can fit in this description.

### 1/5 — Like the concept, disappointed with the app

*2024-02-18*

The app only allows you to select ingredients from an intolerance list or from bar code. There are two flaws in this logic:
1) many people with food issues cook fresh ingredients to better control what we eat… so barcodes are irrelevant.
2) I can only choose category of intolerance ingredients rather than specify actual ingredients. So, my dish with vegetables and spices can’t be entered.

And most puzzling is the fact that they display calendar weeks from Thursday to Wednesday. So weird!!!

### 2/5 — Does not work

*2021-10-31*

App freezes and I have had to uninstall and reinstall twice already on my first day of use.

**Developer response:** We are sorry that you have had problems using the app. We were aware of a start up issue in the previous version of the app that may have affected some users but thought we had addressed this.

We would be very grateful if you could contact us directly at https://todaysnewidea.co.uk/contact/ to discuss the issue you experienced. If we can find out the device and operating system you were using that could help narrow this issue down and let us fix it for all affected.

Once again thanks for the feedback.

### 2/5 — Nice idea but not quite there yet

*2021-10-26*

I’m looking for an app that I can keep a food diary in that tracks my symptoms and analyses potential patterns and triggers.
This app is nearly there but needs some basic improvements:
You have to constantly use a back arrow when the symbols should just be at the bottom of the page to tap and navigate
The scan function should scan barcodes and bring up food ingredients like myfitnesspal, even when it sort of works it only picks up the odd ingredient
Just not an attractive layout

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback we are always open to suggestions on how to improve the apps we develop.
We used the back arrow for navigation because we wanted to keep a consistent interface across all devices and were trying to minimise the space available for navigation on small devices. Given your feedback though we will revisit this and see if we can streamline things.
With respect to the scanning we appreciate that scanning ingredients can be problematic particularly given how small and difficult to read some of the ingredient labels can be. You mention that it only seems to recognise some ingredients even if it dies work. This is by design as we limit the ingredients recognised to only those that we have associated an intolerance with. If you think there are some that we have missed please contact us via the link below and we will add them into the next release.
We did test scanning bar codes to look up the ingredients in a third party database but while scanning the barcode was reasonably simple the information returned from the third party database was highly variable in quality. Again given you have taken the time to highlight this we will revisit that side of things prior to the next release.
