## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not good for alpha gal

*2026-06-14, version 2.1.1*

I read an article that said this app was good for alpha gal. Definitely not. No meat category at all for allergens. Way better apps out there.

### 1/5 — Premium

*2024-11-20*

I paid for yearly premium subscription and somehow it has been cancelled, the whole interface of the app has changed so you can no longer compare with other similar products and no longer offers recommendations for similar products. There is also NOWHERE to email a complaint and there is NOWHERE to sign in to prove I paid for it. Essentially I no longer have access for the premium subscription I paid for. Don’t pay for premium!!!

**Developer response:** I’m sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing with your FoodCheckr premium subscription. To restore your premium access, please follow these steps:
	1.	Open the FoodCheckr app on your device.
	2.	Navigate to the settings page within the app.
	3.	Tap the “Go Premium” button, which will prompt the paywall screen.
	4.	On the paywall screen, look for a “Restore” button and tap it. This action should restore your premium subscription.

If the “Restore” button is not visible or the restoration process doesn’t work, In such cases, it’s advisable to contact me. Please click the “Report Issue” button located on the Settings page within the app. This is the quickest way to reach out and get assistance.

### 1/5 — App no longer opens

*2024-07-16, version 2.0.9*

After the last 3 updates I am unable to open the app!

### 1/5 — Good idea

*2024-06-10, version 1.0.15*

I tested this app quite a while now. The claim of this app is to protect us from harmful food ingredients, which sounds like a very great idea. But since this app doesn‘t tell you whether food contains bioengineered ingredients (earlier named GMO) it falls pretty short of its purpose.

### 1/5 — Failure

*2024-05-02, version 1.0.14*

I understand that it’s kind of new to develop these kind of apps but I scanned 15 items at a local Costco and it had zero hits they can do better. I’m going to delete and wait until another. One comes around.

### 1/5 — Great concept but no instructions how to use!

*2024-01-20, version 1.0.12*

Disappointing
After much guesswork it seems you can only scan barcodes to find out ingredience which is ok
But the app should provide a set of instructions

### 1/5 — Unsatisfactory

*2023-12-11, version 1.0.12*

You need to put a white background with black lettering so that you can actually read the words in your app. Your request for a review popped up immediately. I have not been able to figure out how to scan something and get information back yet.

### 1/5 — Terrible scanner

*2023-11-07, version 1.0.12*

When it actually scans it’s amazingly detailed. But good luck getting it to work. I just updated it and it still barely scans

### 1/5 — Not working

*2023-09-07, version 1.0.8*

Scanned bag of Chirps made with Crickets ie. Ground crickets and DID NOT identify as bug product???

### 2/5 — Insecte

*2024-04-08*

Tout les produits que je consulte me disent pas d’insecte pourtant in en a dans les darines le chocolat etc….

## Most praised reviews (4 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works just fine

*2024-09-30, version 2.0.13*

Don’t know what all the whining about the app not scanning is about, it works fine for me, my wife, and everyone I’ve suggested it to. We find the app invaluable when trying to keep unhealthy additives and ingredients out of our food.

### 4/5 — Carl

*2024-05-10*

Great app I just wish that the database was larger for all western world societies, perhaps in time this will happen I also would like to see a harmful toxins list too as we can’t trust those we placed in power to look out for the general public.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your valuable feedback! We are pleased to hear you like the app. Our database is continually growing each day as we aim to encompass more information for all Western societies. Additionally, we recognize the importance of having access to reliable information about harmful toxins. Inspired by your suggestion, we're excited to include a harmful toxins list in our upcoming update. Your input is crucial for us to deliver a better and more informative experience. Thanks again for helping us improve!

### 3/5 — After update the app does not open

*2024-07-17, version 2.0.9*

Thank you I’ve tried twice I uninstalled the app but it still won’t open.

### 2/5 — Scanner will not scan

*2023-11-26, version 1.0.12*
