### 2/5 — Bug when app doesn’t give notifications

*2025-10-08, version 1.8.15*

When you put your phone on do not disturb or sleep mode, and you put it back to normal mode once you’re awake, the app no longer gives notifications after that. Only way to fix it for me was to reinstall the app and never be on sleep mode at night. Which is just awful.

### 3/5 — Notifications stop working

*2025-08-12, version 1.8.15*

I love the concept and have used the app a few times to pick up bread or pastries! The main issue is that after a week or so the notifications just stop and it becomes unusable as everything is sold out before I realise it. If I install the app again, the notifications work for a week and then the same thing happens. Please fix this!

### 3/5 — Great concept, app inconsistent

*2025-02-12, version 1.8.15*

I’ve used the app quite a bit over the last 3-4 weeks and there are two main issues I’m having with it.
First, is that notifications from local or favourite shops just stop working. I’ve turned notifications for them off and on, turned all app notifications off/on again and logged out of the app. But the only thing that made them start working again was uninstalling and re-installing the app. They stopped working again about a week later.
The second issue is that occasionally I’ll add stuff to the cart, and go to pay but my saved card info has disappeared. I have to go back to the main screen/list of items and try to pay again, at which point the saved info usually appears.

Great idea and works well most of the time, but needs refinement

### 3/5 — Great idea! But impossible to use

*2024-01-30, version 1.8.12*

The app works well if I click on an eatery via notification. However, if I open it and try to scroll it keeps refreshing and I can’t see what’s available. It never used to do this :(

Love the concept and it’s great to see more and more eateries using it.

### 3/5 — Glitchy

*2022-04-03, version 1.7.2*

Good app idea and easy to use when it works, but it logs me out randomly and doesn’t send the password reset email when I click for it.

### 2/5 — Please stop asking for my location

*2021-09-28, version 1.6.2*

Cool concept but can the app please please please stop telling me that it barely functions with my exact location every time I open it. I’ve put in the places I like that are nearby, I don’t need to provide my exact GPS coordinates. Closing that alert every time I open it is making me consider just deleting the app.

### 5/5 — Brilliant app

*2021-03-06, version 1.5.11*

Innovative, functional, created to meet the needs of those seeking food, minimising waste, and connecting communities. Awesome!

### 5/5 — Highly recommend

*2020-06-09, version 1.3.1*

A great concept, fab to save food from landfill! The app itself is easy to use and has a modern design. Make sure to favourite eateries to get notifications when food is listed.

### 5/5 — Genius, love it.

*2019-10-08*

Save all the foods. Best eateries are on here. Quality eats, half price. Save the Earth! Every little bit counts. GREAT APP!

### 1/5 — 6 eateries in North Shore

*2019-08-31, version 1.0.9*

There is hips of work to do here, why are you using ads on Facebook to attract users if you didn’t work in getting eateries first?
You are wasting money on FB ads to frustrate people who will never download your app again

### 1/5 — App crashes

*2026-03-30, version 2.1.2*

So I tried to place an order at this cafe, they have 11 almond croissants left. I wanted to get 3. And when I was about to place the order, the app crashed. The number of croissants decreased by 3. I tried it again and placed 2 but it crashed again the number of croissants decreased. I tried again until all croissants got sold out. Not sure if there are many people who were placing an order causing the crash but I tried with other products but no use. I can’t place an order. 😭

### 1/5 — Can’t use the app

*2025-09-08, version 1.8.15*

Can’t use the app because of declining notification permission. There’s no button to skip either

### 1/5 — Credit card details deleted

*2024-06-15, version 1.8.14*

I use the app regularly. Suddenly credit card details got deleted and when trying to add a new card I get the spinning wheel that won’t go away. Makes the app useless when I can’t pay!

### 1/5 — Missing the point!

*2023-09-28, version 1.8.7*

I thought the idea was to save food from being wasted and help the community with cheap meals. Certainly not the case in Timaru, cafe’s are charging ridiculous prices. Such a wasted opportunity

### 1/5 — I don’t want any notifications!

*2023-07-11, version 1.8.7*

Not sure why it’s compulsory to ‘Enable Notifications’ or compulsory to enter my phone number. I don’t like registering for things and giving my phone number and I really don’t want notifications. There should be a ‘Skip for now’ option. Too scared to enable notifications in case I can’t stop them!

### 1/5 — Great idea poor execution

*2020-06-05, version 1.3.1*

9 eateries and only in Auckland. The rest of the country doesn’t matter? Why not work on getting eateries rather than wasting your time on Facebook ads.

### 1/5 — Simply doesn’t work

*2020-05-11, version 1.3.0*

I tried signing in with both Apple ID and Facebook. But the app just signs me in then asks me to sign in again, in an endless loop. Cannot get further than sign in page no matter what I do.

### 1/5 — Can’t sign in

*2020-04-25, version 1.2.0*

This is a great idea but I can’t get the app to work. Sign in doesn’t work and eventually the app freezes.

### 1/5 — Haywire

*2020-04-23, version 1.1.11*

Seems like a great concept but have been constantly bombarded with notifications from a cafe 30km from where I live and can’t seem to turn those off and then couldn’t log in. Had to delete the app.

### 1/5 — :/

*2020-01-27, version 1.1.4*

Downloaded the app and was very excited to get delicious foods at discounted prices. However there aren’t any food at all to purchase. Always sold out :/

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love the app

*2026-03-30, version 2.1.2*

Love the app, but just recently it’s been broken. It crashes on the payment window following latest update. Hope it fixes soon

### 5/5 — Bohemian Bakery

*2026-02-01, version 2.0.5*

Easy app to use and quality sour dough purchased. Very happy customer.

### 5/5 — Great concept

*2025-12-27, version 2.0.5*

Been using this for a few months now, works really well, no problems so far.

### 5/5 — 4.5 star App, 5 star Concept & Support

*2025-11-29, version 2.0.5*

It just works. Excellence depends on which traders list their items. I’m pleased for them when they don’t list as they sell product and can pay the rent. On the other hand, 5 Choc Fudge Brownies for the price of one? Frozen (NZ) meat and Bakery Goods for half price?

Limitation’s appear to be:
a) A quite small geofence. It should be at least 10-15km. Not the current (guesstimated) 5km? I get a notification from a favourite but can’t see it as I’m 9km or so away. Also be more useful as most towns and cities (and even some suburbs) bigger than that. Loss of half a star for that.

b) Appears to only allow 5 favourites. I’d prefer more.

c) (sort of…) Traders actually listing products on here. NOT an issue with the App, but maybe a trader mindset change needed?

Example - my local organic shop advertised on FB but not in this App, despite being a member. I was right next door at the bakery picking up my an order. Really?

Another with a display of dated products by counter. I was purchasing other items. Would’ve bought if I’d known. Didn’t on principle.

I had a dealing with support and that was excellent. A trader had erred on quantity. Foodprint refunded difference immediately and followed up. Trader is now a favourite and sells NZ ethically grown meat.

I’ve recommended the App to many people now. Whether for the cheap ’treats’ or yesterday’s essentials, it fits my ethos perfectly.

I’ve noticed a review concerned with location. Yes, it needs to be on. But it’s not being amortised and tracked by FB or the ilk. Unless you sign in with that third party obviously. Use your email.

### 5/5 — Delicious discount food

*2025-11-05, version 2.0.2*

I have rescued a lot of food at a discounted price. I always check the app in the afternoon to see what’s available near me

### 5/5 — Great idea

*2025-11-05, version 2.0.2*

A great idea and app is easy to use

### 5/5 — Love This App

*2025-11-05, version 2.0.2*

Love footprint, great to get cheap food and support a completely owned and operated NZ business

### 5/5 — Update is great!

*2025-10-17, version 2.0.1*

There’s been a new update, it’s working better! Love the concept and have been to so many new cafes and bakeries

### 5/5 — Love

*2023-04-09, version 1.8.7*

I Love You

### 5/5 — Incredible app. Incredible concept.

*2022-12-12, version 1.8.5*

So many great eateries to choose from and so mean that the kai doesn’t go to waste. Plus the discounts…

The ux is great too… so many good concepts suffer from rubbish ux but you guys nailed it.
