## What is FoodSelect?

Imagine you are visiting a grocery store. You are walking through the deli section, looking for something to eat at home during the week. You know that some food producers use unhealthy additives to make their food look or taste better or last longer, so you are checking the ingredients on the packages to make sure you avoid these toxic foods. You come across a package of turkey with ammonium phosphate on its ingredients list. You think it might be an okay thing to put in your body but want to know for sure, so you do a quick search and start reading an article about ammonium-based ingredients. Before long, you notice you have been standing there for 2 minutes trying to decide whether or not this food is going to cause harm to your body. You want to move on with life and not waste any more time, and, slightly annoyed, you throw the turkey into the cart and continue shopping. Because of the difficulties of properly vetting foods while shopping, you bought deli meat containing an ingredient known to cause digestive issues.

FoodSelect solves this problem. By quickly pointing your camera at the barcode or ingredients list on food packages, you will immediately see what ingredients have undesirable health effects and what they are. FoodSelect has health effects information on every ingredient you will see in a grocery store. It flags them with a color (red, yellow, or green) to indicate how healthy each ingredient is for you. 

Furthermore, you can use FoodSelect to choose foods that provide the health benefits you want in your life. Our data contains over 200 unique health benefits that foods can offer, from enhancing cognitive function and athletic performance to preventing cancer. Get all of your friends, all of your relatives to download this app because this can probably solve so many health related things because you can see all of the risks and benefits from every ingredient in your food, find the ingredients list or the barcode and it literally scans in under a second!!!!!!
