### 4/5 — Food Tacker app

*2022-02-15*

This is a great app to quickly keep track of food choices. It is very similar to Richard Simmons’ food tracker. In the pro version, you are able to correct a mistake. The only complaint I have is that sometimes it won’t let you undo a mistake.

### 2/5 — Not enough features to justify the cost

*2021-05-23*

This app is OK for a free download but it does not have the features it should have for the cost. I used it for a couple of days and found it to be very frustrating and limited. Disappointed.

### 2/5 — Just does the basics

*2017-11-21, version 1.4.2*

I’ve been looking for an app to visually track key food group consumption and eventually found this one. It’s simple and does the key task I’m after. Disappointingly there’s no synch between devices and the functionality is pretty basic (e.g. you can add food categories but no obvious way to add a picture or icon) to the new category. If this app was priced under $2.00 to free, this wouldn’t matter so much. At $7.49 (NZ) it does, value for money simply isn’t there.
So a 2 star rating reflects the fact this does the basic function I was after - if the app was free to ~$1.00, this rating would have been 4.5-5 as my expectations would have been lower. Hopefully some investment is due for this app in the months to come to align the UI and functions with the price tag.

### 2/5 — Portion size

*2017-09-05*

Dietician told me today to have serves per day
4-6 grains
5+vegies
2 fruit
2-3 protein etc

This apps tell me
2-3 serve of vegies
5 serves protein

### 3/5 — It's alright if you just want to count servings

*2017-07-24, version 1.4.2*

I just downloaded the app to track my servings for a Beachbody workout I'm doing. This app can pretty much just add the servings you have eaten. It is a bare bones app. It would be nice if:

1. The developers would tweak it where you can change the order of the food groups. Right now the food items that you add are on a page you have to swipe to see. Some of the stock foods I won't use (i.e. Alcohol), and would like to move them to the second page.

2. If they would load pictures of possible food groups (i.e. Coffee, post-workout drink, pre-workout drink) that you can assign to your custom food groups.

3. Add "+" and "-" buttons to make it easier to edit mistakes when entering servings. Right now you have to go to settings and undo the previous entry

4. Even though this is an app that helps count servings, it would be a lot better if it were made into an all-in-one app that could count calories, scan food upc's and automatically count your servings based off the upc information (like "lose it" and other apps.

5. The most amount of servings you can add to any particular food group is 12, however, according to my workout I need 13 servings of Protein. It would be nice to change the feature to allow more servings. The slider bar is nice, maybe add a feature where I can also enter a number for the amount of servings needed.

6. Trivial, however, the app User interface is pretty juvenile, and looks like it was developed out of a garage with someone who knows basic code. Beef up the look.

### 4/5 — Good tool to track nutrition

*2017-01-11, version 1.4.1*

I like the simplicity of this app. I am not interested in tracking each calorie but want to focus on eating the right foods. This tool allows you to adjust servings and add custom foods. It is similar to the daily dozen.
My only request is to make it easier to change your entries for the day in case you entered them in wrong. Maybe swipe left and right functionality for each food group.

### 2/5 — NOT WORTH 5 BUCKS!

*2016-07-26, version 1.4.1*

It's ok, but seriously not worth the price point. This app should be a buck or two at most. All it does is track your exchanges for the day and nothing more. Very no frills.

### 4/5 — Good simple tracker

*2016-02-12, version 1.4.1*

This is a good simple tracker for tracking the number of servings you have of a certain food group. I wish they would improve the ability to change/edit servings after you enter them. You cannot selectively delete servings. It deletes them in the reverse order that you entered them. As an example, you could enter a fruit serving, then a milk serving, then a starch serving. Then say you want to remove the fruit serving. To do so, you have to delete the starch serving, then the milk serving, and then you can delete the fruit serving. Then you have re-enter the milk and starch servings again if you want to keep them. It's easy to lose track and sort of defeats the purpose of the app.

### 3/5 — Needs some work

*2016-01-04*

Nice idea but the bar chart doesn't work, it only shows my bread I take and none of the other food types.

### 3/5 — Good

*2015-11-30, version 1.4.1*

I like the app except that you can't alter a previous day's entry. It is an expensive app and for that price, I would expect different options. I also would like different pictures for the food categories. But that isn't a big deal. For the price, I probably wouldn't recommend it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Outdated app

*2026-01-03*

The app is clearly outdated and lacks necessary customizations

### 1/5 — Other things that could be improved

*2023-07-30*

Since this app tracks protein by ounces, you can be pretty accurate, but the number of proteins you might eat in a day are quite large because of this. For example, a man might be recording 15-20 units a day in just that category. If you make a mistake, you cannot correct it on the screen, you have to hit an icon and use a drop down and erase it by erasing your last entry…so hopefully you catch your mistake right away. Last, the app lets you set goals for each category of food but, it is on a separate page where you set the goals and can view them. As you were doing your food entry, you have to remember what your goal is or wait until doing an entry turns the number a different color. I really wish they would fix all the things I’ve commented on. I am sure they are easy fixes and then it would be a good app.

### 1/5 — Disappointed with what you get for the cost

*2019-06-14*

-no option to set a 1/2 serve as a goal
-I would expect recipes ideas and links to websites with recipes
-tips on how to plan your day would be good
-more serving size options please

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your money

*2019-03-14*

This app is garbage. You can only click on how many servings you have ate. If you don’t know what category your food falls under it won’t work. Find a different app.

### 1/5 — Don’t buy! $4.99 is not worth it.

*2018-05-26*

I can’t even adjust the full page of the suggested food serving size information. What a waste of money, unfortunately.

### 1/5 — Buggy,DONT BUY use exchanges in a free calorie tracker instead

*2018-03-03*

TLDR: cannot backfill, cannot undo actions, cannot set flexible goals, cannot create custom foods, cannot get an approximation of total intake / macros.

I regret buying this as I can't figure out how to get a refund. Consider this purchase the equivalent of ripping a $5 bill in half.

This app has an old and extremely buggy UI.
(1) you cannot backfill because of bugs. You'd better remember to log every day because if you don't you can never fix it!
(2) you cannot fix a mistake in your current day log, or just adjust an exchange down, instead you have to go into a context menu and wipe the entire log clean and start over! There is no down--Only up and start over.
Not bugs, but stupid choices:
(3) The ui is designed to make you feel good (green) if you are under your goal servings and bad (red) if you are over. However (1) you cannot set the goal high enough for protein and fat to get to e.g. 130g of protein. (3) all goals go from green to red, so if you under your veg and water goal? Green. Over? Red. Very stupid UI choice.
(4) cannot add custom foods. If you eat a lot of mixed type dishes it is annoying to have to enter 1/2 meat + 1/4 starch + 1/2 fat etc for each serving and do that math. Custom foods would solve this problem but isn't available.
(5) everything in the ADA book should be available to look up as a good and log as a portion e.g. Look up "hummus" and log 1/3 cup of it correctly as 1 starch + 1 fat. Instead, you have to do all of your own portion math. This app is ONLY for tallying portions, as in seeing 6 starch, 5 fat, etc, which most people can easily do on a sheet of paper for free and less bugs.

Instead of this, use loseit! or another free app. Create custom foods called "starch exchange" serving size: one exchange. Do this for all food groups. Log that way. It's harder to see how many exchanges you've had all day, but I create a "food note" that tracks this. At the end of the day you get an estimate of your calories and macros. The best part is that it's free.

### 1/5 — Price not remotely justified

*2017-06-23*

Essentially a pretty checklist. Could use the back of an envelope

### 1/5 — Should be free

*2017-06-16*

There is really no unique functionality that warrants paying for. You select servings per day from 8 very broad food groups and it tracks and graphs how you cover those food groups over time. No specific foods can be entered. Disappointing.

### 1/5 — Very basic- no food database

*2017-06-11*

Would be more effective if there was a food component

### 1/5 — Too Basic - Don't Waste Your Money

*2016-05-29, version 1.4.1*

For $4.99, I expected this app to do a lot more. Everyone says this app is so great, but I don't know how it can be because it basically does nothing. You can set goals for how much of each food group you should be eating, but the app doesn't allow you to enter your age, height or weight to determine it. You have to figure it out for yourself, which is something I expected to be supplied with since I was paying for an app that has an overall 4-star rating. I wish I had never bought this app. I don't recommend it to anyone.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great for diabetic food exchange program

*2021-10-27*

I needed an app that works with the diabetic food exchange program. This is it. Simple to use too. 5 stars.

### 5/5 — Solid.

*2021-04-18, version 1.4.2*

I keep coming back to this app because of its simplicity. I don’t really like to count calories or grams. With this, I can easily count portions. And no subscription! Worth it.

### 5/5 — Easy to count portions and not calories

*2019-03-17*

I have been trying to find something like this for years. Eating healthy for me is more about eating healthy and not counting calories. I can customize daily my goal to me need. Definitely 5 stars!

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2018-03-01*

I like it because it’s easy to use. I have mine set up for the equivalent of 1200 calories and I have water and exercise in there too. When it’s time for dinner I how many servings I have left so I won’t over eat

### 5/5 — Great tool

*2018-01-07*

This matches the method for the Exchange Diet. Easy to use without the complexity of adding individual foods.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2017-07-31*

It's simple and does exactly what I want. No nonsense. No inputting of each food item. Easy and quick to track your food intake.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2017-05-23*

Easy to use

### 5/5 — I've been looking for an app like this for a long time

*2017-03-18, version 1.4.1*

I'm so excited to have found this app. I've tracked my diet off and on by servings of food groups for years, but on paper. Very few apps track this way and the app makes it so much easier! Thank you! The only things missing would be the ability to sync across multiple devices and some sort of Apple Watch interface.

### 5/5 — Great purchase!!

*2016-02-07, version 1.4.1*

I never pay for apps. Like, ever. If it costs money, there's probably a free version. And if there isn't, I must not need the app that badly. But I really wanted an app that allows me to track what I eat so I could be generally more conscious of my nutrition (not by counting calories, simply by following the food pyramid) and this was the only one that had a simple, easy, well designed interface so I thought, "Worst case scenario, I'm out $4 with a lesson learned. Best case, I get exactly what I wanted."

Happy to report it was a fantastic purchase, and I'm not only more health conscious and hydrated (without taking on the full time burden of counting calories/ micromanaging my meals), I've lost 1 1/2 inches off my waist in about 3 weeks.

I also never bother to review apps, because someone else always seems to take the time to do it, but I'm so happy with this one I had to spread the word.

Definitely recommend!

### 5/5 — Best so far

*2015-12-27, version 1.4.1*

I absolutely love this app. Simple to use. Only app I could find to track food group servings and not calories. I love that you can add customized items, track progress and set goals. Please update it to make it Apple Watch compatible!
