### 2/5 — Calories for national US brands unavailable

*2026-07-24, version 7.28*

Looking for Wendy’s chili to add it to my log. The only thing it shows me foe wendys is water. Not that I eat there more than once a year, it’s still not helpful.

### 2/5 — Wish I didn’t pay for it.

*2026-02-22, version 7.28*

It is good is concept but not application. Trying to add an unrecognized barcode item is a wasted effort. I take what looks to be perfectly clear photos and it rejects them without any explanation of why. I try to use the contract button to request assistance and it says I need to set up my email info in settings. I go to settings and my email is set up so basically. The features don’t work and the contact help is one of them.

### 2/5 — Great for some folks

*2026-02-21, version 7.28*

The database favors certain regions of foods. I find that I have to manually enter new entries for lots of foods that I eat and the AI often glitches making adding said entries unpleasant. I have attempted to add almost 15 items since purchase in January 2026 with success less than half the time.

### 4/5 — Great app but support broken

*2026-02-13, version 7.27*

The app is great and I love the simple grading system. What I don’t love is the lack of customization. Why can’t I hide the podcasts tab? Why do I get app ads if I’m premium? And why can’t I edit my own food items added or even delete them in 2025?

### 4/5 — Great but

*2026-02-03, version 7.26*

This app is good but a lot of foods need to be entered even for large chain grocery items that are generic branded. And I don’t understand why it’s been 20 years but there is no watch feature?

### 4/5 — Almost there..

*2026-01-11, version 7.26*

As someone who adds most of their food items manually, it’s frustrating that I cannot modify my additions after. I have to have every detail at the time of adding the items. Maybe it’s an option, but I haven’t found a way. So if it’s possible, it’s not easy enough to do so. For only that reason, I cannot subscribe yet. Otherwise, I love the app.

### 3/5 — Frustrated

*2026-01-05, version 7.26*

Need to go back to letting us modify past days logs. We can't all immediately track everything and some things get forgotten about until the next day, and we need to go back and add them in or correct something. I would have canceled my renewal had I realized the year was already up in time, just because of this problem. So frustrating.

It's also difficult to find new-to-me foods I am looking for even if I type them in exactly, but when I scan the bar code they come up. Why is the name search so difficult all the time? There are undoubtedly countless duplicates of the same item because of giving up looking and adding new products when they're probably in the database somewhere. I'm really dependent on my history.

Otherwise I like the app a lot.

### 1/5 — Missing data

*2026-01-01, version 7.26*

Paid for the pro so I could track and analyze all macros and it only breaks down carbs. What a rip off

### 1/5 — Not worth the Money

*2025-12-28, version 7.26*

Does not have enough calories count.
Recipe and calorie don’t match.
Very misleading.

### 4/5 — Dark mode?

*2025-12-06, version 7.26*

Dark mode please!

### 3/5 — New Update Bug

*2025-11-07, version 7.25*

I updated the app on Nov 6th and now I can’t add food items to the previous day. I used to be able to add any dinner items from the previous day. Please reinstitute this capability.

### 4/5 — Great app but support broken

*2025-10-31, version 7.25*

The app is great and I love the simple grading system. What u don’t love is the lack of customization. Why can’t I hide the podcasts tab? Why do I get app ads if I’m premium? And why can’t I edit my own food items added or even delete them in 2025?

### 1/5 — Is this now a scam?

*2025-10-21, version 7.23*

Feels like a scam given affiliate with appbundles.com who have your data and want to share it with numerous partners. I bought a lifetime premium membership through stacksocial but it didn’t work. Id avoid.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App is Garbage

*2026-08-09, version 7.28*

The app sucks, let us use the website again instead of trying to make us use the app. Will find another app or website that’s actually useful for looking up nutrition information

### 1/5 — Lifetime membership is a lie

*2026-07-17, version 7.28*

I paid for a lifetime membership years ago. Hadn’t used the app recently, redownloaded and somehow none of my emails are in their system. Now everything is behind a paywall. Lies.

### 1/5 — Used to be a amazing…

*2026-05-09, version 7.28*

This app used to be incredible, and now it’s utter trash. It’s very buggy and looks barebones. You can tell that after more than a decade, the devs clearly don’t care anymore. I also paid for it long before there was even a subscription. It freezes when I try to restore… Convenient.

### 1/5 — Underwhelming features with lots of ads

*2026-05-02, version 7.28*

Second time trying this app as a basic calorie counter and it just is not up to snuff. Most of what you try to scan just flat out doesn’t, or times it’ll tell me the scanning feature is locked behind a paywall. The search function is pretty bare bones as well, I can’t find most of the products you can commonly find in most grocery stores. I don’t appreciate being bombarded with popup ads at every tap, any time I need to change screens I know I’m going to have to close a popup ad asking me to upgrade, or trying to close an actual advertisement and am greeted with yet another popup to upgrade to a paid plan to remove ads.

Overall, this app is just annoying to use. There’s plenty of better free options out there.

### 1/5 — Cancelled trial yet still charged for membership / apple refused to credit -

*2026-04-29, version 7.28*

I cancelled this trial - I was charged $40 -
I deleted app instantly so haven’t been using and haven’t used it since -of course apple (as always) refused to credit the amount-
I am now going through my bank .. not amused ..

### 1/5 — false advertising

*2026-03-22, version 7.28*

why would u include nutrition information as a promotional tool under the basic plan, yet it’s locked behind a subscription paywall?

### 1/5 — App is Garbage

*2026-03-03, version 7.28*

The app sucks, let us use the website again instead of trying to make us use the app. Will find another app or website that’s actually useful for quickly looking up nutrition information

### 1/5 — Disappointed - enjoyed the original app

*2026-02-24, version 7.28*

Tried to scan a food product to get a grade like when the app was first launched and was disappointed to find that the company uploaded its label and propaganda. I loved this app for being able to walk through a grocery store and find out the rating based on real nutrition facts. Now it is a calorie counter and diet ideas shared by various bias. Before it was just the facts on how processed and healthy a product was. Now it is useless for my needs. Deleted it sadly, loved and referred this app for years.

### 1/5 — False calculators, overall buggy

*2026-01-20, version 7.26*

Horrible app. It said if I’m on a cut as a woman I should be eating 2800 calories.

Super buggy at almost every point, can’t even adjust the numbers nor adjust the serving you had to accurately reflect what you consumed.

### 1/5 — Ads….

*2026-01-05, version 7.26*

Popup ads every single time I open the app. Not worth it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — It’s great!

*2026-08-23, version 7.28*

It works good

### 5/5 — Excellent educational content

*2026-05-30, version 7.28*

I can’t recommend this app enough honestly it’s so much better than other nutrition apps I’ve tried in the past.

### 5/5 — Best Calorie Tracker

*2026-05-06, version 7.28*

I have been using this calorie tracker since I was taught about it in middle school health class and it’s great. The UI is very user friendly. I love that you can create your own meals to quickly add frequent foods. The annual cost for the pro features is affordable and worth the money in my opinion.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2026-02-20, version 7.27*

This app works great. It tracks calories of course but it does so much more. It tells you about the food you chose in terms of nutritional value and gives it a grade from
A-D. It shows percents of daily intake for major food groups like protein, carbohydrates and fats/saturated fats. Also, major minerals like calcium, sodium etc and major vitamins.
It tracks water intake, your weight. There’s a place to put your recipes and meals you eat often so you can just choose that and not input several items. It also automatically calculates your calories allowed as you lose weight so you can continue on your path to your final goal. You will get out what you put in. I’ve spent some time every day inputting everything I can think of including workouts and it has worked flawlessly for me. The only thing I struggle with is sometimes when you scan a barcode with your phone, the item is not entered into the system. If that happens you can choose something similar or enter the item you want yourself. Doing that can be a bit of a challenge and sometimes it doesn’t like the pictures I take of the item so I’ve had to give up a few times and just use something similar for that meal.

### 5/5 — Okay App

*2026-02-01, version 7.26*

This app is okay. if you want to track your water, track your food, obtain nutrition information and ingredients information it’s fine. I like that you find some foods from restaurants, takeout and drive thru’s. Too many Ads!! You can’t edit mistakes when adding your meals. I also love that it rates your food choices and gives better alternatives for your food selection. It takes a while to add new food items to the food log. The process involves taking photos of the front of the container, photos of the nutrition info and photos of the ingredients information.
If this is what you’re looking for then this is the APP for you.

### 5/5 — Great app for accountability

*2026-01-04, version 7.26*

I love this not just for tracking my water intake as I originally got this for. It has kept my weight where I intend really well and keeping me on task for exercise. Thank you Fooducate!

### 5/5 — Very helpful

*2025-11-10, version 7.25*

Thank you

### 5/5 — Great Meal Tracker

*2025-09-30, version 7.23*

The free version is very good for tracking snacks, water and meals with easy input functions, plenty of items in the various library categories and restaurant items as well.

A little less “buy premium” popping up every time you “touch a crown” 😂 would be nice but the app is free after all.

A setting option for a 24 hour clock instead of AM/PM would be terrific, all in all it is an easy to use friendly formatted app.

### 5/5 — CUSTOMER SERVICE NON RESPONSIVE & CAN’T OPEN APP FOR 6 WEEKS!!! 🤬

*2025-08-20, version 7.20*

UPDATE: 8/19/25
This issue remains unresolved, a total waste of money for the app, and total waste of time with customer service for no solution.

UPDATE 4/28/25:
This is my MOST RECENT email to customer service, sent today -

“Hello??????!!!!!!!
I’ve left a negative review for you guys weeks ago, and I have been waiting for a response for weeks for you to solve my technical problem so I can use the app again. Since this is taking WAAAAAAY too long, I want a refund immediately, of which I asked for on the 13th with no response, and it is now the 28th. I am going to continue updating my negative review in the App Store until someone responds and provides a refund.”

4/12/25:
I’ve literally been waiting three weeks for Customer service to fix an error message that is popping up saying that I’m not connected to a network, which is incorrect. I am. It won’t let me log into the app and I just re-purchased this app a couple months ago. I’m gonna be finding another one and requesting a refund if I don’t get my refund I’ll update this review.

### 5/5 — Exceptional guidance

*2025-07-05, version 7.20*

With Fooducate’s Excellent food library, scanner and counter, coupled with a small food weighing scale and determination are all you need for success!
