## What is Football Highlights 2052?

Official app of the board game by Mike Fitzgerad and Eagle Gryphon Games.

Welcome to Football Highlights 2052!

Football Highlights 2052 is like watching TV highlights of early 21st-century football games, with the game play being full of theme but with no time-outs or commercial breaks and all without bogging down in a play-by-play football simulation.

In this quick and interactive game, two players manage their teams, combining both strategy (building your team) and tactics (playing the game) without any downtime. During each half, players alternate playing ten cards to simulate a full game's highlights. Each card represents both an offensive and a defensive play, both of which will be used to resolve your opponent's and your own offensive plays.

Do you try to thwart your opponent's threatened offense, or put up a strong offense of your own? The player who makes the best use of their plays will score the most points through touchdowns, field goals, and even safeties to win the game!

### 3/5 — Faithful adaptation with aspect ratio issues

*2024-04-19*

I realize this doesn’t bother some folks, but I’m sensitive to it. A fair amount of the images are presented in aspect ratios not faithful to the source image (they’re either squashed squashed or stretched)

Perfect example is the image of the resulting coin toss. The quarter is taller than it is wide.

Happens in both phone and tablet versions.

Otherwise a great game.

### 5/5 — Great adaption of the board game

*2022-10-18, version 1.2*

I have baseball and football highlights. I love the tension in the football game. I would love to see baseball highlights get the same makeover, with more teams and playoffs.

### 5/5 — Love this game

*2022-10-02, version 1.2*

Peter and of course Mike the designer, has created 2 great games! Bh2045 and FB2052 love this so much! I wish we could have more teams to BH 2045 like this so we could play a season like in FH2052. It’s really cool. I am having a hard time understanding people saying it is too hard. I think the AI is good but very beatable if you understand the game.

My biggest complaint about football highlight is that Eagle really missed the mark on the player graphics. Baseball highlights is so great! You immediately recognize the players.

These graphics are very lacking.

Thank Peter for a great app.

### 4/5 — Plays like the physical game

*2022-09-15, version 1.2*

Would be nice if some of the animations could be sped up. It would be cool if your team deck was allowed to keep the players drafted instead of resetting. Overall, a pretty good experience.

### 5/5 — Great game for football fans!

*2022-08-13*

I really enjoy this card game, maybe some other features cold be added, such as super-bowl, multiple seasons, etc.

### 1/5 — Impossible and ugly

*2022-05-03, version 1.2*

Baseball Highlights is a truly addictive and fun game. This… the games are next to impossible to win, there is no room for strategy, and the graphics are fugly and old. Waste of $$.

### 2/5 — Still something off with this game

*2021-04-03, version 1.2*

0-10

Ai is unbeatable

Ai stops me nearly 9/10 plays.

Also... this game needs a better indicator of FIELD POSITION, instead of just showing a number. Football with cards but no field position indicator... it just doesnt feel right.

Also too many popup interruptions; 2 min warn, last play of half, popups. And do we really need to watch the card animations for the AI draft and audible selections? Unnecessary.

And the “played” card orientation... allow us to change it so intead of vertical, they are facing each other horizontally.

Fun game. I play the physical game all the time. I have all expansions. Great game BUT this digital version is hard to follow, especially on an iPhone. Much easier to win the real card game, solo. This digital AI is too hard. Not fun.

**Developer response:** Sorry you're having a tough time. Most players were complaining about the AI being too easy so I bumped it up a tiny bit recently. If you're willing to give it some more time, maybe visit boardgamegeek for some strategy tips?

You can use your audibles to escape the AI matching up with you, but you only get to do that 3 times in a half so you need to make those count.

The AIs not cheating, so you can do whatever the AI is doing to you with just a little bit of practice.

### 4/5 — Season mode freeze ups

*2021-03-14, version 1.2*

I really enjoy playing your game. The only real issue I have with it is that it tends to freeze up at some point in season mode. I had completed 12 games in a 14 game season only to have the game freeze on me in the middle of the 13th game. I tried rebooting the app but to no avail as the game in progress would not respond. I had no choice but to abort my season (my record was 8-4 and had already clinched a playoff berth) and start over....VERY FRUSTRATING!! I then attempted a 10 game season in which it froze during the 5th game. Also during the halftime draft session the A.I. seemingly ‘steals’ some of the cards I had selected and kept for the second half. If these bugs are fixed then I could probably rate 5 stars.

### 4/5 — Good But Could it have been Great?

*2020-10-27, version 1.2*

It’s a card game in the physical world and in the digital world, where anything is possible . . . . it’s still a card game. So, that’s all okay, as okay goes, the app brings the card game to your digital device. But, could there have been more? Perhaps a grid iron view, some animation, a football moving along the field? None of that is here. The app is about the cards and some statistics. Not bad if you love the game and want the nuts and bolts. But more was possible. Bells and whistles would draw more to the game and, frankly, it’s 2020, the technology exists, and this is a 1980s version of a 21st century game. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the game and the mechanics. I just wish the app production went further. It does not, but you still get the game here if that’s all you want.

**Developer response:** Good thoughts. The limitation though is pretty small phone screens. Animated football players is also a heck of a lot of work for something that ends up just being window dressing. If the app was selling for 20-30$, then yeah maybe, but not for 4$.

I added season play and playoffs which is not really part of the boardgame and that alone was quite a bit of work. Hope you like the game.

### 5/5 — Great game!

*2020-08-19, version 1.1*

I love both this and baseball highlights 2045. Both games are true to their physical counterparts and lay well on the iPad! Definitely worth the purchase price.
