I’ll go into a game, if I sim it or play it. And the line up I put out. Isn’t the lineup that plays/starts the game. What you're describing, rival teams jumping to 99 overall while your players barely improve no matter the training ground level, was a bug in the progression system, and it's now fixed. With that sorted, training and tactics actually carry the weight they should, so playing with a small team is viable again.
