### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2022-01-04, version 2.1.0*

I got a brand new Ford Edge Titanium 2021 and this app doesn’t seem to work.

### 1/5 — Did nothing described. At all.

*2021-10-12, version 2.1.0*

FORD specifically states that my F150 is compatible with this application. The overview of the application and its capabilities includes several very intriguing things with the most important to me being that I can use my screen on the front of my consul is a direct streaming screen. Unless I’m reading things entirely incorrectly it surely appears to me that I can watch a YouTube video on screen in my truck but it’s not doing that even two updates later… I’m ready to turn my truck back in. It’s been 3 months.

My mom died only weeks after I got the truck and I haven’t wanted it since anyways. I pay $1100 a month to drive a truck that my friends are driving for 900 or less after insurance. My APR was only 4.99% on my loan. It also seems to me that my long-term at six years and not five which would explain the heightened monthly payment. Point is, I definitely don’t want to pay for a truck that is lacking features I’d feel that I require or would like or were promised by my salesman. I can’t afford his truck anyways and you guys won’t let me out of it. Our family has bought Fords and nothing else for the last 18 years. Since I was a young child that is! I’ve had nobody reach out to me to help. I’m about to lose my truck, my home and everything else that I own. I’m a single dad who is trying to build a lifestyle that is suitable enough for my daughter so I can at least reach a level of being formidable to obtain partial custody but it looks like because of this truck all of my frustrations with it that’s just not going to happen

### 1/5 — Not sure what this gets me…

*2021-10-03, version 2.1.0*

I purchased a Ford Mach-E and was led somehow to install this app, but it’s very unclear about why I would want the app, what it does, etc… as far as I can tell it doesn’t do anything for me. I was hoping it would allow me to stream a movie to the console screen while charging, that would be nice. However it appears useless with my vehicle. Maybe an update or change will make it useful in the future.

### 1/5 — Does not detect monitor in Mach E

*2021-09-07, version 2.1.0*

Ford nor Lincoln Play apps allow me to pick my cars main screen as the monitor. Says make sure connected to same as car entertainment system but I’m connected via usb; and tried hot spot and wireless app projection and still no monitor detection. I just wanna watch Netflix while waiting fir my battery to charge…is that too much to ask! Please help!

### 1/5 — Bad Design

*2021-05-30, version 2.1.0*

Ford, is this really the best you could come up with? Not user friendly at all.

### 1/5 — How?

*2021-05-20, version 2.1.0*

Just… how does this even work?

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2021-02-24, version 2.1.0*

App doesn’t work I have it connected to WiFi and my phone connected to WiFi and yet the app continues to tell me I need to connect both the truck and the phone to the same WiFi which has already been done and redone and done and redone again but yet that all I get

### 1/5 — Unless

*2019-04-03, version 1.2.0*

Absolutely will not play my pictures or video on my dashboard screen
useless on my F-150

### 1/5 — App still crashes after recent update when connected to USB

*2017-12-28, version 1.1.1*

The app still crashes after recent update when phone is plugged in via USB port. The app has been fixed as a stand-alone device. However it crashes instantly when the phone is plugged in via USB port to gain access to the app link feature on the center console.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Open

*2017-12-17, version 1.1*

When you press the app to open it, it instantly crashes.

### 1/5 — App crashes with iPhone

*2017-12-16, version 1.1*

Need fix from Ford ASAP. 2018 Expedition has dual headrest entertainment system and at $1500 would not have purchase system if unable to stream content from Apple mobile devices.

### 1/5 — So so

*2017-12-14, version 1.1*

They need to fix it crashes on iOS 11

### 1/5 — Does not work on iOS 11.

*2017-12-09, version 1.1*

Does not work. App constantly crashes! Will not open. Just bought a 2018 expedition platinum with headrest TVs. Need this app to stream iTunes movies. Right now they are pointless and a waste of money for all Apple users.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2023-09-22*

I get the same error as everyone else. I am def connected to the same network in my truck. Doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — Junk

*2023-07-15*

I don’t waste your time by downloading this app. It does not work. I am connected to my 2023 Ford Wi-Fi and I keep getting an error message telling me I need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi, which I am. So if you want to waste a lot of time going down the rabbit hole, this app is for you.

### 1/5 — Pure junk

*2023-07-05*

Never works. Gives me the same error messages everyone else. Saying I’m not on the same that work and I am. It’s just a waste of time and I can’t tell you how many times I have attempted to use this and have been utterly disappointed. They need to pull this app from the App Store or make a version that actually works. I mean how many negative reviews can there possibly be before the developers realize that this app is a piece of junk.
I hate that I even had to give it one star. Useless.

### 1/5 — Garbage!

*2023-04-26*

Doesn’t work at all! Do not waste your time trying to make this function. App can’t connect to vehicle regardless of what network you use (although it clearly has connected since Ford Connect is running happily). Won’t show you devices or anything you might want to use. Lincoln Play is exactly the same. Doesn’t anyone test these things before launching them? Would have given it -5 stars if that was possible.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work.

*2023-04-13*

I had the same experience as the previous reviewer. I continued to see the message indicating the WiFi needed to be connected. Couldn’t move beyond the message.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2022-10-16, version 2.1.0*

Useless app. Tried for hours to get this to work. Keeps saying its not connected to the same wifi but it definitely is. Annoying.

### 1/5 — Dosnt connect

*2022-10-01, version 2.1.0*

Doesn’t not work at all

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2022-07-11, version 2.1.0*

I have the 22 Expedition and it won’t connect to either monitor. Says wifi won’t connect, even though it’s most definitely connected. A
Spent most of the day in the back seat trying to get it to work. I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but this is garbage.

### 1/5 — Unfriendly UI and does not work.

*2022-06-12, version 2.1.0*

Absolutely useless app. After many hours of attempting to stream a video from my iPhone to my screen on my 2021 f-150, I still can’t connect. My trucks Wi-Fi network has been set up and my phone is connected. Problem is, every time I try to use the app in my truck or on my phone, fordplay prompts me with a message “please ensure your device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network”. Even though it is 100% connected to the same network. I tried my trucks Wi-Fi and it’s projection Wi-Fi (used for CarPlay) which is another feature I can’t get to work on this truck. 1/5 I wouldn’t recommend this to my worst enemy.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2022-02-10, version 2.1.0*

Would be great if it did for mirroring stuff for kids while sitting places waiting but I guess that won’t be happening since the app has never worked since buying my truck. Guess they want those headrest sales.

## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — So good

*2022-08-17, version 2.1.0*

Lover it was so fun

### 5/5 — Crashes but there is a work around

*2018-01-22, version 1.1*

V1.1 crashes. I talked with someone at Ford and a fix is in process. I downloaded the "Lincoln Play" app (same app but with Lincoln logo) and it works great!!

### 5/5 — The latest version works great

*2018-01-09, version 1.1.1*

My kids can now enjoy our family videos in the car.
I am still learning how to use this app, but it seems very promising.
Keep up the good work.

### 5/5 — Still broke, workaround shows a great system

*2017-12-21, version 1.1*

I was ready to leave a scathing review on the app crashing on my shinny new iPhone! However customer service put me at ease by explaining their team has submitted a fix for the “deployment issue” and the workaround of using Lincoln play app has worked for me.

Review using Lincoln app: I must say if the Ford app is like the Lincoln app they have a winner! This system does so much more than I expected! Word of advice; read the manual! It is payed out nicely and has a lot of great information.

I was a bit annoyed that I could not watch my iTunes movies through the app wirelessly, however these movies are apple protected so the use of an hdmi cable is needed. Lucky the system supports this!
Maybe a future update will allow for this.

I am a little uneasy leaving five stars when this app is not technically working, but I will give benefit of the doubt since the Lincoln one works and customer service was so helpful. I will update my review if anything changes.

### 5/5 — I like tacos

*2017-12-15, version 1.1*

Sad this app is not compatible with iOS 11

### 5/5 — Ford Play

*2017-12-12, version 1.1*

Needs a fix asap, have iOS 11.2 the app crashes.

### 2/5 — Unnecessarily complicated

*2023-12-12*

This app is a shining example of how Ford needs to stick to making autos and leave the tech up to an outside source. It’s WAYYY more complicated than what it should be. Just to steam music for my phone to the car audio takes about 20 steps. The steps are the opposite of intuitive and the instruction manual isn’t organized.
