### 2/5 — Super unreliable

*2026-08-18, version 11.14.1*

Cheaper than Lime but get what you pay for. Often bikes have faults or the unlock won’t work, or issues with the app. Left me stranded too many times

### 2/5 — Good bikes bad app

*2026-08-17, version 11.14.1*

Bikes are great, prefer to any other service. However, there have been countless times when I have missed trains or lost out on purchased minutes because of the app - be it poor design or just plain breaking. I don’t have time on my commute to spend 5-10 minutes fighting with a forest bike to get it to unlock. Not knowing whether I’ll be able to unlock a bike once I’ve trekked out of my way to get to it is a deal breaker. I’ll be using other services for the foreseeable, which is a shame because I really would rather use Forest. Please fix the app

### 4/5 — Fun fun fun

*2026-08-15, version 11.14.1*

Whole family had fun better than expected +++

### 1/5 — Worst experience (if I could I would give 0 stars)

*2026-08-11, version 11.14.0*

This cycle ride experience is horrible, simply horrible

1. Even if you purchased min with money and it’s been in your wallet
It still charges you 1£ each time to unlock the bike
2. even after deducting it still takes 5£ as a caution money each time, even if you a penny short they won’t let you unlock and hire it
3. Each time after ending the ride it takes additional 2/3 min to end the ride making you deduct more minutes from your account
4. The speed is capped to 25 kmph and even if you try to pull the speed by paddling, it holds down the speed making you slow, even in the slop it capped the speed.
5. And it’s not cheaper 0.33£ per min, imagine you are at a traffic jam and it takes 12 min, even train ride seems justified.
6. And the UI is not user friendly and the system blocks your account every now and then.
7. The customer support system is always unavailable and busy and they never follow you back.
8. They don’t even respond well to the mail/ message.
9. They don’t even give you proper reason for blocking your account.
10. The map to find nearby bike- the distance is wrong.

### 1/5 — Total Deception

*2026-08-11, version 11.14.0*

Beware! The bikes ALL SAY “£1 for 30 minutes”. This is an absolute lie. All prices are way higher for sub 30 minutes. Stay away!!!!!

### 1/5 — Don’t bother

*2026-08-10, version 11.14.0*

If you need a bike in and around Clerkenwell don’t bother 5 bikes tried 5 unavailable even those the bike there been let down to many time choose lime !!

### 1/5 — Location data wrong

*2026-08-10, version 11.13.0*

I keep running into issues where a bike is shown on the map, I walk there and it isn’t there, which is a waste of time and annoying

### 1/5 — Awful app and Customer Service

*2026-08-10, version 11.13.0*

Constantly fails to end rides. Customer service lines don’t respond or follow up meaning you waste tonnes of credit / minutes. Used to use Forest religiously but switching to Voi or Lime. Had me standing around for 10-15minutes trying to end rides in multiple occasions.

### 1/5 — Charged £6.51 for 19 mins instead of the advertised £1

*2026-08-09, version 11.13.0*

Disgrace. Lying advertment. Charged £6.51 for 19 mins instead of the advertised £1

### 2/5 — Not worth the money

*2026-08-09, version 11.13.0*

The bikes were nice, and the first 30 minutes is only a pound. However, if you go Past, that 30 minutes, it’s 30 pence a minute. I wrote the bike for 45 minutes and it took me 15 minutes just to find a suitable place to park it for them. I was well within the white circle and I kept getting a notice that I was not able to park there. I had to take it in and out of the circle multiple times and even tried to go to other locations that never seemed to work. It was beyond frustrating and to use that bike for one hour cost me well over $30. I would never use this company again very disappointing! I could’ve rented another bike for the entire day for less than $10

### 1/5 — App too busy and bad customer service

*2026-08-07, version 11.13.0*

The app is way too busy - adverts on the screen. Not intuitive. The customer support is rubbish. Their entire system crashed - no phone line working. No response to customer support emails. Only reason I got a response was the threat of court action on a large amount of money they took from me. I would avoid.

### 1/5 — Overcharged because of buggy app, non existent customer support

*2026-08-06, version 11.13.0*

Used it for a month and generally had a decent experience with their bikes. However, the app is very buggy, and can sometimes not end your ride properly resulting in an overcharge. I have tried contacting support multiple and they haven’t got back to me, nor have they even acknowledged receipt of my issue. I think they just hope you dont notice these charges and over time, give them more money that you dont owe them. Cancelled my subscription to them and switched back to Lime.

### 1/5 — buggy app, non existent customer service

*2026-08-06, version 11.13.0*

rented a bike that turned out to not exist, couldn’t terminate the ride (no bike to take a photo of) and couldn’t then start a new ride, still got charged, got in touch with customer service by email twice and been ignored both times

### 4/5 — In the end, Forest were okay

*2026-08-05, version 11.13.0*

I’ve had a frustrating few weeks with Forest. I bought several minute bundles that I either couldn’t use properly because the app wouldn’t let me start or end rides during the recent technical issues, and it took much longer than I’d have liked to get everything resolved.

That said, I do want to give credit where it’s due. I eventually managed to get through on the live chat, and the issue was resolved. It’s a shame I had to go the extra mile to get there, as it did leave me feeling ignored for a while, but the support I received in the end was genuinely helpful.

The recent technical issues have clearly been significant, and I appreciate that it’s not easy for a smaller, home-grown business to deal with problems on that scale. Communication could certainly be improved during outages, but I’m hopeful this has been a learning experience.

For now, my faith in Forest has been restored. I really like the service when it’s working well, and I’m looking forward to seeing the reliability and customer support continue to improve. Keep it up!

### 1/5 — Works… until it doesn’t

*2026-08-05, version 11.13.0*

When things work well, it’s fine. But all crashes a lot, bikes don’t unlock and several issues ending ride.
I’ve been overcharged by almost £30, their phone lines are not actives, and their “live chat” is just a bot. Emails go unanswered . Good luck.

### 4/5 — One of the best bikes in London

*2026-08-04, version 11.13.0*

I just want to say that the flight is half from Lime, but still famous because of it’s amazing bikes comfortable to ride and SAFE

Only thing I really want to mention is the pre-booking of the Byke . Line Byke provide provides 10 minute pre-booking but in forest there is nothing like this. Yes, you can book by start your ride from far away but then. When you go near the bike, you don’t even find the bike and then you just have to. The app and say it didn’t find the bike and that happened to me a lot of time, which is not for free.
I would say not tell me but at least five minute pre-booking would be such a perfect thing to add.

### 1/5 — Waste of material

*2026-08-04, version 11.13.0*

This Idea of save the world with bikes yay ! when u cant ride to certain areas inside london. How stupid can it get yes i know its not up to them but goes to show how useless protecting the environment really is. Just pointless if i was pro bike id buy one. The convenience to spontaneously use one isn't there.

### 2/5 — Should’ve stuck to Lime

*2026-08-03, version 11.13.0*

The absolute last thing that you want is a bike to take at least a few minutes to unlock or lock when you’re on the way to work. And this is exactly that.

I’ve emailed countless times trying to understand why it takes so long despite having a premium subscription for a bike to unlock. The app has one job and you’d think with all the income being generated, they would invest some money into trying to fix this issue. But instead, they ignore the countless messages about it. I’ve even spoken to colleagues at work who have said they’ve experienced the same thing and they end up just walking away. I’ve emailed them at least five times not only about this but also about unlocking bikes and not being refunded because of issues with the bikes themselves. Lime automatically refund so I don’t see why they can’t do this. This is the poorest customer support that I’ve ever experienced. I’ll continue to leave these negative reviews on each bad experience because at some point they need to be nudged in the right direction to use the subscription money that they’re generating from my pocket.

### 1/5 — Awful app that cannot be relied on

*2026-08-03, version 11.13.0*

This is an objectively terrible app. It has constant issues that cannot be put into a review. It constantly lets you down and is significantly worse than competitors. This wouldn’t be an issue if it didn’t resort to buying monopolies in areas to force people into paying for its horrible service who have no other choice. It will constantly let you down and make you pay for the privilege. Awful

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Charged me 12 quid

*2026-08-19, version 11.14.1*

Charged me 12 quid for a apparently 1£ 30 min ride

### 1/5 — I had to pay to sign up

*2026-08-18, version 11.14.1*

I was charged during sign up without any kind of warning. I'm sure this goes against the App Store T&Cs. Really bad user experience.

Also, the "30 minutes for £1" offer feels like a marketing trap. After you sign up and they charge you to verify your credit card, which they don't refund, you see a message saying that you need to find a golden bike to get the offer. Of course, there's only one available, miles away.

### 1/5 — Customer service is a nightmare

*2026-08-17, version 11.14.1*

Bike can be good however, customer service is shocking it does not exist

### 1/5 — I used to enjoy biking

*2026-08-16, version 11.14.1*

App never works. Bikeshare used to be reliable option in Richmond, now it’s unavailable. Is Forest owned by a taxi company?

### 1/5 — Deceptive pricing practices

*2026-08-15, version 11.14.1*

They are not transparent or upfront with actual pricing. Display £1 for 30 minutes. Charged £22 for one hour. Can only rent 1 bike per account. Terrible service. Call Center was also closed. DO NOT USE FOREST BIKES!!!

### 1/5 — Worst experience ever

*2026-08-14, version 11.14.1*

The app stuck when I needed to end the ride, and then over change me for £18!! Custom phone is dead, email is dead, live chat it Ai. No response since last month. That’s how they scam you.

### 1/5 — The buggiest app ever

*2026-08-13, version 11.14.1*

This app is honestly so bad . Trip start and end always finishes for ages , and even in this case - you can still be charged 16 pounds for 10 minute trip just because they think that you ended your trip in 2 hours .

### 1/5 — One of the worst apps ever made

*2026-08-13, version 11.14.1*

One of the worst apps ever made and inexistent client service

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-08-13, version 11.14.1*

Became the sole supplier of e-bikes in Richmond after Lime was banned. Between faulty bikes which you can’t start; a lack of supply; or the fact that you could literally pay to unlock a bike before it tells you it’s been rented; I am surely missing Lime.

### 1/5 — App needs work

*2026-08-12, version 11.14.1*

The bikes are great but the app is frustrating. Not smooth and location accuracy is way off. Takes a long time to start and end rides.

### 5/5 — Works with US cell

*2026-06-30, version 11.10.0*

Nice bikes, haven’t had problems really and the big plus is that Forest works with a US number when verifying the cc. Another company we tried first took us all the way through registration etc and never delivered on sending the code (due to intl number).
Forest made it easy and the app works great and bikes an excellent to get around too!
