### 4/5 — Absolute game changer

*2026-04-08, version 2.19.6*

This app is exactly what I was looking for, it really holds me accountable with what I want to do. I like having the option to have AI or a real human verify if I’ve achieved my goal. My whole life I’ve struggled to stick to things and have that accountability, and so far this is giving me it!
Some of it isn’t that intuitive to use but I think it can only get better in time.

### 3/5 — Not a great interface

*2026-02-23, version 2.18.8*

I have mixed feelings about this app. On the one hand, it does what it is meant to. It commits me to goals and when I fail, it takes my money as it has been set up.

On the other hand, I find the interface not very user friendly. For example, if I set up a commitment for the week and to submit by Sunday PM, If I finish on Tuesday, I have to scroll to Sunday to submit. I also find the artwork and graphics look a bit amateur? Overall it just doesn’t have the feel of an app that I enjoy using.

I also don’t understand how using the Overlord AI means a higher subscription. I get that the developers put time and effort into building Overlord. But they are also reducing their time/costs by not having to manually review submissions, evidence etc. So automating their job somehow costs the user more?

### 3/5 — great but could be better

*2025-11-04, version 2.17.20*

i don’t really write reviews but i feel like i gotta for this app, i love this thing and the whole idea and everything is great, but the actual app needs some work. i don’t wanna make it sound like i don’t like this app its honestly amazing and i think it’s going to get wayyy bigger, but there are little things, like a slightly confusing goal system and sometimes whole features or even things like blocking your screen at the right times don’t work. i think with some work this app would be way bigger.

### 5/5 — Download this app.

*2025-11-04*

I downloaded this app 1 week ago. I set a screen time goal of 30 min or less. My screen time went from an average of 5 hours a day down to a half hour. Do you know what happens when you stop wasting 4.5 hours a day online? My house got clean. My step count went way up. I picked up my guitar for the first time in months. I'm going to upgrade to the pro version now.

### 5/5 — Life changing app

*2025-10-12, version 2.17.17*

Something that could really change your life

### 5/5 — Needs Widgets

*2025-10-11, version 2.17.17*

I love this app, it has helped me so much with my workflow but I would love to be able to have homescreen widgets to use to keep me on track with my goals as well!

### 5/5 — If you need a push...

*2025-09-17, version 2.17.16*

This tool has been super useful to me. It really helps put my mind into that mode of "I have no choice but to do this". Great for getting habits consistent.

I use Overlord. It's buggy and slow, and there's a learning curve. You must learn to configure it just right. Until you do, you will be able to wiggle out of penalties, and will sometimes be judged unfairly. Go in expecting this. You will get a lot of value.

It has a free trial. Have courage and set those penalties. It will make you finally disciplined. Tap the install button now, for your future.

### 5/5 — Life Changing app

*2025-09-16, version 2.17.16*

Timelapse goals are life changing with overlord. Every difficult thing I do today is because of this application. Crazy how monetory punishments are so effective, even if its a small amount.

### 5/5 — Stupid new Subscription model is SO GREEDY!

*2025-08-22, version 2.17.13*

(This is really a ONE STAR REVIEW). I enjoyed this app. I really did. Giving it 5 stars so that people actually see this review. The problem began when they started charging 12.99 A MONTH (that’s like 140 bucks a year!!!) for their pro features. One very important one being the ability to have more than one active Forfeit (used to be free!). Overall, very dissatisfied.

### 5/5 — Helps me get things done!

*2025-08-18, version 2.17.13*

I have been able to publish books on time because of this app, keep my house clean, make sure I workout consistently, and even make sure my meal preps are done. It’s a fantastic app with tons of options. I use pro plan and it is worth every penny. Highly recommend

### 5/5 — I love this app

*2025-07-16, version 2.17.5*

Great concept and great execution. Literally perfect

### 5/5 — The App That Made Me Finally Finish My Old Tasks

*2025-07-12*

I've had tasks on my list for five weeks. I moved them to Forfeit and finished them the same day.

Loss aversion is a strong motivator. If you're worried about losing money, remember you're setting your own goals and timelines. This way, you can achieve a 100% success rate without losing a dollar.

And frankly, the motivation you get for not wanting to lose money is going to cause you to finish far more than you ever have before. I think that's worth a few potential dollars.

Last, there's a brilliant system baked in that allows you to put in if you have some type of emergency or major issue that prevents you from finishing the task on time. After over 20-30 of these tasks, I only needed to use that once, and it completely worked great.

**Developer response:** Great to hear this - thank you :)

### 5/5 — the best app ive ever downloaded

*2025-06-27*

I cant say enough about this app. it truly is a gamechanger. I was skeptical at first on how it’d change my life, but I definitely went from using 0 hours of my week towards my goals to using nearly all my free time (which at the moment compounds to about 7 hours a day). The developers are always on top of things and I would not be surprised if this became a multi million dollar app.

**Developer response:** Hell yeah! Great to hear :)

### 5/5 — Incredibly helpful

*2025-06-12, version 2.16.29*

I want to thank the developers of this app for being so attentive and supportive but also for simply creating a really great app. It has been helping me reach my goals and now I’ve convinced my friends to start using it!

### 3/5 — Was great, became subscription model

*2025-06-10, version 2.16.28*

The app was great! They decided to switch over to a subscription model. I would rather just pay a one time fee. Keep in mind they already make money when you fail to complete a task.

### 4/5 — Unique App

*2025-05-28, version 2.16.20*

Good idea and it works. Very user friendly.
There is now a subscription model so I now question the need for the developers to retain 100% of forfeited money.
If the app can be funded by subscription, and developers fairly compensated, then I would like my forfeited money to be donated to charity.

I have no problem with devs keeping the money if there was no subscription.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Poor UX and no monetary punishment

*2025-07-15, version 2.17.5*

Downloaded to use the monetary punishment feature, paid for the subscription and found out the only punishment is sending text messages to your friend. What’s the point tho?! Complete waste of money. And the overload goal is not even mandatory, just some gentle reminder. AI is pretty hyped up these days, not everything needs AI! Focus on your core value and user pain points first!!

### 1/5 — Expensive subscription now required-by surprise

*2025-05-05, version 2.16.12*

This used to be my favorite app and I recommended it to everyone.

Suddenly, they’re requiring a subscription to do anything. There’s not even a basic free level.

So disappointing. Will be finding something else now.

### 1/5 — Paywall now?

*2025-05-02, version 2.16.12*

Thanks a lot. I was loving this app and it literally helped transform my life until I open it today and now we have to pay???? I already pay enough when I accidentally dont complete my task, but you need us to pay to use a program where we pay you more? This is ridiculous. Without this accountability my life may slip back to where it was before. Thanks a lot

### 1/5 — Invasive and Unnecessary Data Requests Ruin This App

*2024-11-24, version 2.15.13*

This app is an absolute nightmare when it comes to respecting user privacy! It demands access to unnecessary personal data just to use basic features. Why on earth do you need my location data and motion fitness data just to access health-related tasks? That makes no sense and is clearly invasive.

It doesn’t stop there—this app also forces you to grant access to your contacts just to create simple tasks or habits. You can’t even skip these permissions or opt out! It’s completely ridiculous and feels like they’re harvesting data for reasons that have nothing to do with the app’s functionality.

It’s absurd and makes using the app extremely uncomfortable. If you care about your privacy, steer clear of this app. Until they change their approach, this is a hard pass

### 1/5 — Won't run

*2024-05-27, version 2.13.5*

I have the latest version of IOs and I can't get this app to run. I uninstalled and reinstalled. Please let me know any thought. Looks like a good app.

### 1/5 — Automate your self control

*2023-10-16, version 2.10.7*

This app is literally changing my life. I’ve never done all the hard but good things I want to do (exercise, get up early, meditate and so on) with such consistency before. Hard to see how I could live without it now. Support team are fantastic and pace of development is great.

### 1/5 — Takes forever to review

*2023-07-11, version 2.8.13*

This is a good idea for an app but they take FOREVER to review the pictures that you submit as evidence. Submitted it over two days ago and it’s still not approved.

Can’t you automate this via chatgpt or Amazon mechanical Turk?

And these guys are funded via YC. PG et al you are not paying attention like get it together and you gave these dudes 100k + sv networking intros and they still can’t use mechanical Turk so idk??

### 2/5 — Good in theory but unable to be relied upon

*2026-05-29, version 2.20.4*

Good app but lost my progress twice. Once post 7 days of a streak and another time post 10 days which was demotivating. The first time my progress was erased & my forfeit was completely erased as well and the second time was after I had updated the app. Despite creating an account both times my progress and forget were completing erased both times and I couldn’t recover my progress. Both times I messaged a ‘founder’ who was unable to help. Can’t trust the app to continue. I’ve moved on to the habit app which has worked well so far: ultimately great app in theory but wasn’t effective and able to be relied on.

### 2/5 — Screen block doesn’t work ios

*2025-08-03, version 2.17.10*

Please make screenblock work on ios

### 2/5 — Paid

*2025-05-24, version 2.16.16*

Sorry but how are customers going to use and get to know your app without getting to use them? No free version? I have used this app for so long I think it deserves subscriptions but not this way. A mandatory minimum fee per failed tasks could have gotten you guys the money, and have customers use it and actually take it seriously. This option of having to pay $8 straight out the gate is not a way to get customers.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Literally life changing

*2026-07-15*

For over a month, I have not missed one day of achieving my goals due to this app in the areas of maintaining a calorie deficit, working out immediately after I get out of bed, keeping in touch with family and friends daily, making sure I get into the Bible and do some study every day, and my prayer life.

The team at Forfeit has built a truly life-changing app. If you’re wondering how AI can positively benefit us humans, this is a great example.

### 5/5 — This is the only thing that has helped me

*2026-06-20*

I have struggled with getting up for the longest time, it is nearly impossible for me to hold myself accountable when getting out of bed but Forfeit has changed that.

I work from home and I’m self-employed, so the longer it takes me to start my day, the more money I lose. With Forfeit, I have set it up so that way it charges my bank account if I don’t get out of bed and submit a picture of myself brushing my teeth before 9 AM. For once in my life, there’s a genuine consequence for my procrastination. This app has motivated me more than I have ever been motivated, and my life is genuinely improving from it.

My only comment is that it was incredibly hard for me to figure out how to set up the option where they pull money from your bank account if you don’t do your task. The app doesn’t outwardly say it anywhere (unless I just wasn’t looking in the right places) I ended up having to reach out to support, but I figured it out before they got back to me. You need to go to their website online to add payment information. Once I found out how to do everything it was genuinely very easy to navigate. I also would like to comment that support got back to me rather quickly for this being a smaller business, which is really appreciated!

Unless you pay for a subscription, you can only have one task at a time, but that’s not an issue for me. You don’t have to have some sort of subscription to even use the app, which is awesome!

### 5/5 — I’m FINALLY Building Habits!!

*2026-06-09*

Nothing has held me accountable to sticking to my habits each week like this app does! I’ve stayed consistent with more than 3 goals for over a month now, whereas before I struggled to stick to something for just two weeks. Knowing I’ve got money (and my pride) on the line with each forfeit gets me up and doing the task I set. I think it’s well worth the money and the creators actually listen to their users and implement changes when needed. I’m looking forward to the progress I continue to make!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-05-24, version 2.20.4*

Love the Pro Overlord option. Works well with an active dev team adding improvements monthly

### 5/5 — Life Changing

*2026-05-12, version 2.20.4*

This app has been my secret weapon to advancing my career, building better habits, fostering healthy relationships, etc. There is no app like this out there, because of how drastic the premise is. Charging/punishing yourself sounds crazy, but it works. You can build Forfeits for any goal you want, and the creators are constantly improving & and adding features. I’ve been using the app for 3 years now and I’ve significantly changed my life for the better. Bravo Forfeit team!!!

### 5/5 — Habit tracker w/ TEETH

*2026-03-25, version 2.19.3*

I am a huge fan of Forfeit and have been using it for a couple of years now. Bar none, the absolute best app for behavior change. Most people over index on the carrot and completely forget about the stick. This makes real behavior, change, easy and fun.

### 5/5 — A underrated gem that does what 1000s of app hope to do

*2025-12-16, version 2.18.3*

A nuclear option for the person out there trying to take on life solo dolo. You, your family and friends can fail you, but this App will not. It is the only thing that keeps me accountable. Whatever it is thats important to you, in one way or another, you can put it on the line and hold yourself accountable. Worth the money. This app will do what so many habit tracking and time blocking and organizing fail to do. If you struggle with adhd, have the desire to work but suck at the pandora box of ideas and thoughts that results in task inertia. This is for you.

It takes some getting use to, and you may have to tinker it to your use case, but the investment is worth it. I have tried just about everything… but this works. Even when i subconsciously try to beat my goals/tasks that i set out for myself. And fail. This app holds me accountable. Its not enough to document, log, journal… sometimes you just… need… forfeit/overlord.

Truly under rated.

### 5/5 — The best accountability app by far

*2025-12-08, version 2.18.2*

Seriously this is the best, most intense accountability app I’ve ever used. If you need help getting things done, I haven’t found anything as good. It is a super detailed and intense app, not simple, but if that’s your personality type it’ll be great for you. Overlord feature is cool too (it’s AI) but I find the man forfeit app part just as good for most tasks. Seriously good job from the developers and I hope both parts of the apps continue to be developed with new features each week. Thanks

### 5/5 — I literally never write reviews

*2025-11-24, version 2.18.2*

I’ve never written a review in my life, this is the only app you need. After downloading this app I said this is the best app I ever downloaded. I can’t go and tell you all the perks but you might just have to download and see for yourself.

### 5/5 — It's a miracle

*2025-11-09, version 2.17.20*

I never could imagine that something somehow, would finally make me accountable
