## What is forkenspoon?

It's 5pm, and somehow nobody in the house knows what's for dinner. Again. Forkenspoon fixes that by putting a whole community of home cooks in your corner.

Discover what other families are cooking
Browse dishes shared by real home cooks — not polished food-blog perfection, just what people actually make on a Tuesday night. Follow the ones whose taste matches yours, and let their week inspire your own.

Fork a recipe, make it yours
Found a dish you're keen to try? Fork it. Tweak it to taste, and it stays linked back to where the idea started — because a good recipe only gets better as it passes from kitchen to kitchen.

Plan the week in five minutes
Drag dishes — yours or forked from the community — onto the week ahead and just… see it. No more "we have nothing planned" panic at 5pm.

A grocery list that writes itself
Whatever's on the plan turns straight into a shopping list — tick things off as you go, or copy the whole thing to send to whoever's doing the shop.

Cook together as a household
Set up a household so meal plans and grocery lists sync for everyone — no more "I thought YOU were sorting dinner" texts. Switch on Household mode and choose from everyone's recipes, likes, and go-tos in one shared list, so picking what's for dinner is a group decision, not a guessing game.

Keep the family secrets, secret
Not every recipe is meant for sharing. Save grandma's lasagna as a "secret recipe" and it stays yours alone.

Forkenspoon isn't trying to turn you into a food influencer. It's a community built around one simple idea: recipes are better shared.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.6 — 2026-09-12

What's New in v1.0.6

- Plan meals together, for real. Weekly Planner now has a Household toggle — switch it on to see a combined list of everyone's recipes, likes, and in-rotation picks when choosing what to cook, not just your own.
- See who's behind a dish. In Household mode, a small avatar badge shows which family member(s) already like or regularly cook a dish — so you know at a glance whose favorite you're picking.
- Your filters, remembered. Your recipe filters and Personal/Household preference now sync across your devices instead of resetting every time you open the app.
- Smarter random-pick. The "surprise me" randomizer and manual dish picker now pull from the exact same pool — no more mismatched results between the two.
- Clearer recipe forms. Creating or editing a recipe now shows a simple color cue (red → green) on any field still needed before you can publish, so it's obvious what's left.
- Fork a recipe straight from your feed. A dedicated fork button is now right on each recipe card, alongside a cleaner layout for prep time, ingredients, and recipe badges.
- Various bug fixes and polish under the hood.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-09-09

What's in this V1.0.5:

- Fix: Weekly Planner Selection now correctly filters by the meal type you picked (Breakfast/Lunch/etc.) for a day that's never had anything planned — previously it silently fell back to Dinner.
- Fix: Recipe Book's and Weekly Planner Selection's dish grids could misdirect a tap (e.g. "Change Category") to the wrong dish if the list resorted at the exact moment of the tap — fixed by giving each grid tile a stable identity key.
- Persisted, household-shared grocery checked-off state, with its show/hide toggle moved into the Grocery screen toolbar.
- "Shake to Randomize" moved from the Profile drawer into the Weekly Planner toolbar.
- Read-only category chips added to the Dish Detail view.
- Add a lock toggle to the Weekly Planner toolbar — locks a week read-only for you (past weeks lock by default), separate per household member so one person locking a week never blocks anyone else from editing it.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-09-06

What's new in version 1.0.4

- New "Surprise me" option when randomizing your weekly planner - pulls from the whole community feed by category instead of just your own dishes
- Shake to Randomize can now be turned on or off from Settings
- Long-press a dish while picking one to select and save it in one step
- Household members now see a "Shared with [household]" label on Weekly Planner and Groceries
- Forking a recipe now requires your own photo before you can publish it, and simply reordering ingredients no longer counts as a real change
- Your "What's your twist?" note now shows up on the forked dish itself
- Fixed a bug where editing multiple instruction steps or ingredients at once could make items appear to disappear
- Fixed the Fork Tree view getting stuck loading on some dishes
- Fixed the draft badge overlapping the dish name in Recipe Book
- Added a hold-to-confirm step before deleting your account
- Small fixes and polish throughout

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-03

What's New in Version 1.0.3

- Fixed a bug where the Fork Tree view could spin forever without loading for certain recipes
- Forking a recipe now starts with no photo, so you must add your own before publishing your version
- Fixed a loophole where reordering ingredients alone, with no other change, could let a fork be published unchanged
- The "What's your twist?" note you write when forking a recipe is now shown on that recipe's page
- Fixed the "Draft" badge overlapping the recipe name in My Recipe Book
- Fixed a bug when editing a recipe's instructions where editing one step could hide or lose other steps
- Weekly Planner and Groceries now show "Shared with [household name]" when you're using a shared household planner
- Added a hold-to-confirm safeguard before deleting your account
- Fixed the Terms of Use page being cut off by the device's navigation bar on some phones
- Various bug fixes and improvements

### 1.0.2 — 2026-08-30

What's New in Version 1.0.2

Fixed a bug where fractions and decimals in ingredient/grocery measurements (like "1/3") could show up as long repeating decimals instead of what you actually typed
Added "To taste" as a measurement unit, and made "To taste"/"Eyeball" units optional for a quantity when adding an ingredient
Tap anywhere on screen to dismiss the keyboard
The Cancel button on Create/Edit Recipe now warns you before discarding unsaved changes, so an accidental tap can't lose your work
Renamed the "Draft" button to "Save" for clarity
Dish names, descriptions, ingredients, instructions, and tags are now automatically capitalized
Added two new recipe categories: Sides and Appetizer
Fixed the "Start of Week" label wrapping awkwardly in Settings
Various bug fixes and improvements
