Formation Lab is a play-calling notebook for youth flag football coaches — draw a play, watch it move, and share it with your team, all from your phone. DRAW IN SECONDS Tap a formation, drag routes onto the field with your finger, and you've got a play. No pro-gameday call sheet, no fourteen menus — just a field and your fingertip. WATCH IT MOVE Every play animates: routes run, the ball travels from snap to catch, motion plays out in order. Scrub through it, slow it down, or run it from the top as many times as it takes for your players to see where they're going. SHARE IT TO THE GROUP CHAT Export any play — or a whole playbook — as a short video, ready to drop straight into iMessage or WhatsApp. Parents and players see exactly what you see, whenever it's convenient for them. BUILT FOR HOW YOUTH FLAG ACTUALLY WORKS - Formations that match your league's format (5v5, 7v7, 9v9) - Positions labeled the way your team calls them, not a pro depth chart - A playbook per season, so last fall's plays don't clutter this spring's - Tags to find the two-minute drill fast, mid-huddle - Works completely offline — draw on the sideline at practice with one bar of signal Terms of Use: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ ## Key features - Intuitive play drawing with formations - Animated play visualization - Video export for sharing - Customizable formations for league formats - Offline functionality - Playbook organization by season ## Pricing and in-app purchases Base price: Free. **Subscriptions** | Subscription | Price | Period | | --- | --- | --- | | Pro Annual | $29.99 | per year | | Pro Monthly | $2.99 | per month | **One-time purchases** | Purchase | Price | Type | | --- | --- | --- | | Season Pass | $12.99 | one-time | ## Is Formation Lab safe? Tear one open and its plays land in your playbook, ready to edit, animate, print and share • The Starter Pack is three plays, free for every coach • The Pro Pack is fifteen more, included with any plan • A light field. In Light appearance the field is paper, on the canvas and on every play card • A new look: a new app icon, and a condensed typeface on every play, sheet and wristband IMPROVED • Your playbook's pictures load faster when you open the app • An exported playbook now includes every play, even one this version of the app can't open FIXED • An edit could fail to back up when another of your devices had its clock set ahead • Deleting a playbook on one device could leave another device showing "Couldn't save" ### 1.4 — 2026-10-04 Your plays come first. Formation Lab now opens straight to your playbook, with three tabs: Plays, Team, and Account. NEW • Three tabs. Plays is your open playbook, Team is where you set it up, Account is yours • New Play is the first card in your playbook • Search finds a play in any of your team's playbooks • Your sort (Call Sheet, Recent, or Name) follows you to every device you sign in on • Rename a play from its card: press and hold IMPROVED • The Team tab is one page: your team's color, its playbooks, formations and tags, and a tap to switch teams • A playbook opens on your most recent plays. Call sheets, wristbands and videos still come out in call sheet order • On iPad, the playbook's name, search and tags stay put while your plays scroll • A team with no tags isn't asked to tag every new play FIXED • A crash when deleting an account ### 1.3 — 2026-09-28 Send a play to another coach — they get their own copy, and yours stays yours. On iPad, a play fills the window. NEW • Share Play, on the play and on its card. Another coach opens the link, picks a book, and keeps their own copy. Send it the way you already send a video — Messages, Mail, or AirDrop • Appearance in Settings: System, Light, or Dark. The field stays the same board IMPROVED • On iPad, the book is a grid of plays. Tap one and it takes the whole window; Back returns to the grid • Tags sit along the leading edge of that grid when the team has any ### 1.2 — 2026-09-20 On iPad, your seasons are a wall of diagrams. Tap Full Screen in the huddle and the play fills the display — list and panel both step aside. NEW • A Library of playbook cards, each showing six of that book's plays • Team tabs to switch seasons in place, plus a color each team wears • Full Screen: one tap puts the play list and player panel away, one tap brings both back IMPROVED • Playbook setup is a sheet, so format and field no longer take the canvas ### 1.1 — 2026-09-15 Print wristbands your players can wear on Saturday. Actual size, cut to the window — the same play they already see on your phone. NEW • Wristband inserts in Flag, Youth, Teen, and Adult sizes, plus a coach's card of every number IMPROVED • Print a call sheet from the playbook: pick the plays, choose the paper and grid, send it • Share as video, print a call sheet, or print wristbands from the playbook — right above search ## Apps similar to Formation Lab | App | Rating | Price | Category | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | [BUKT - Basketball Stat Tracker](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/bukt-basketball-stat-tracker/id6760085840) | — | Free | Sports | | [FormationFlow](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/formationflow/id6759989262) | 5.0 (1) | Free | Sports | | [Basketball Stats App](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/basketball-stats-app/id6762053276) | 5.0 (1) | Free | Sports | | [League Source](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/league-source/id1554448690) | — | Free | Sports | | [FlagSnap Official](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/flagsnap-official/id6778480498) | 5.0 (14) | Free | Sports | | [CheerCraft – Choreo & Cheer](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/cheercraft-choreo-and-cheer/id6761829240) | — | Free | Sports | ## More apps by Michael Sabens - [Daxal - Subscription Tracking](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/daxal-subscription-tracking/id1556927495) - [The Fold - Recipe Manager](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/the-fold-recipe-manager/id6758029693) - [Starting 5 Trivia](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/starting-5-trivia/id6759997813) All apps by Michael Sabens: https://appshunter.io/developer/1450586221 --- *Data collected daily from the US App Store and indexed by [AppsHunter](https://appshunter.io/).
