### 5/5 — Great

*2025-01-22*

Love using this app! Sam is a legend. Everything is thoughtfully laid our and planned with a professional perfumer in mind.

My only (very small) wish is that there were more colors to choose from for ingredient categories :)

**Developer response:** Thank you! You can access more colours by switching the custom colours option on in app settings (go the the settings app in your iPhone)

### 5/5 — Using this for over 2 years and intend to continue using. It works well for me. I use it on my iPad.

*2025-01-16, version 1.5.11*

I’ve been using this program for over two years now, and I intend to continue to use this.
It works well for me. I use it on my iPad and the format is completely compatible with iOS.
It’s easy to use, especially if you refer to Sam Macer’s tutorial video on YouTube about Formulair. If I have additional questions, I email him, and he replies in a friendly helpful manner.
Some other perfumers use their own excel spreadsheets, but I’d rather not have to come up with my own system to that extent, as this one works and isn’t too high an investment for me as a hobby perfumer who hopes to one day sell my perfumes.
I believe the cost for the full version is a one-time fee, and it’s reasonable.

Also, I like being able to support a kind smart young man who isn’t in this to get rich, and who really applies himself to his endeavors.
He’s a self-taught perfumer, himself, so I think he knows what’s up :-) 👍💜✌️
I wish you all the best in your future perfume-making adventures 🌈

### 5/5 — Best!

*2025-01-01, version 1.5.11*

The best work app for the perfumers ever!

### 5/5 — Amazing App for Perfumers

*2024-11-27*

Sam Macer has created an intuitively organized system for creating formulas, filing raw materials, and even doing the math for you... I don't know where I'd be without it. Amazing.

### 5/5 — You already know

*2024-11-09*

Sam Macer can live his life knowing he's left a legacy mark on perfumers of all levels by building this incredible program. As with anything there was a slight learning period but within a few sessions, one can wizz around this thing like a pro. It's truly remarkable and I'm deeply indebted to him, as I know many others are. If you're trying the free version, it can be fun, but I recommend just saving the few coffee shop trips to invest in the full version to truly receive the benefits of this amazing tool. Thank you, Sam!

### 5/5 — Must Have

*2024-10-30*

I live and die by this app. It has been so valuable in helping me organize everything!

### 5/5 — Formula

*2024-10-27, version 1.5.11*

Sam has done a great job here!

### 5/5 — Game changer

*2024-09-19*

The last and final missing piece for hobbyist perfumers to take it to a serious level. This makes it so easy to organize and most importantly scale your formulas and see everything in one place. Thank you so much for this app.

### 5/5 — AWESOME

*2024-05-29*

VERY EASY TO USE

### 5/5 — Its great

*2024-04-05, version 1.5.11*

Its really great to have a program like this when you really wenna have results and not just tinker around.
For a pro its super cheap, for a beginner it is actually a little high of an investment. Its free until 25 ingrediences, but you reach that super fast.

### 5/5 — So awesome

*2024-03-10*

I can’t believe how much this app has accelerated my ability to get to work quicker with its ease of flow functionality- thank you Sam you care about us and I truly value your contribution

### 5/5 — Game changer

*2024-01-25*

I recently started making perfumes as a hobby. This app is incredible useful for note taking on materials, mixtures, accords and full perfumes. It also makes all the percentage calculation and scaling of formulas very easy. I think that the price is a little high, but it is still 100% recommended.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Kind of a pain

*2026-02-10, version 1.5.11*

I’d rather just enter everything into a spreadsheet and not have to worry about filling out all these new fields and learning the quirks of a new app

### 1/5 — THE APP DOSE NOT OPEN BEEN TRYING FOR 1 YEAR

*2025-06-11*

I Have been trying to open this app for the past one year but the same thing keeps happening the icon bounces then the app closes before it opens. They should remove this from the App Store as it is not functional!

### 1/5 — I never write reviews

*2025-06-07, version 1.5.11*

This is a terrible app.

### 1/5 — Expensive

*2025-05-27, version 1.5.11*

It’s basically a spreadsheet in an app, but it will set you back 45€! 😂

### 1/5 — Can’t use it

*2025-03-22, version 1.5.11*

I imported a materials CSV, but it wasn’t the correct format for Formulair, so ended up having a lot of materials and cant remove them all at once.

### 1/5 — Forgets my license

*2023-12-22, version 1.5.10*

Bought full version and it worked for about a month and then it keeps saying I have to remove materials. Its not useable anymore. Tried to reach out to developer and its radio silence

### 2/5 — Nice start but lacking a proper feature set - seems it is no longer being developed

*2025-11-02*

This is a great start but for the $40 I paid for it, and seeing there is no update for 1.5 years now, I’m a bit disappointed.

There is no way to batch edit multiple items, which seems like a core feature when working with so many materials. The material import is extremely basic. If you get the import wrong, your only recourse is to manually edit every item one by one or delete the app, clear your cache, and start over entirely - this isn’t acceptable in my opinion. The fact you can’t even reset your library without deleting the entire app is an oversight.

Again, it’s a good start but it’s surprisingly lacking. I don’t think it is worth the money they’re asking as it is now.

### 4/5 — Spanish version

*2024-05-05, version 1.5.11*

Wonderful app, how good a Spanish version would be. Thanks a lot.

### 4/5 — Great app, problem’s syncing

*2024-02-02, version 1.5.10*

App is great, but I am having issues syncing my laptop with my iPad.

### 4/5 — Great app for serious perfumers - but pricey!

*2023-07-22, version 1.5.9*

This app is well designed and thought out. Helps you categorise and organise all your perfumery ingredients and formulas without the hassle and clunkiness of a spreadsheet. It has a lot of clever settings for tweaking your dilutions or scaling and adapting your formulas. You can also monitor the overall cost of your formulas which is great for the business owners. Be warned that if you would like to add more than 25 ingredients to your library, the app will prompt you to pay £39.99 for the full version!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent Application

*2026-08-10*

Great app, does everything I need to keep my formulas, accords and raw material + costs.

Few improvement that will help alot are as follows:

Group the formula raw materials by Top, Core, Base not just Pyramid symbol.

Also when printing the product it should also group it by Top, Core and Base.

Also when creating categories to group the formulas, it should allow to create sub categories, for example.

Au d’ Perfume
  - Women
     Perfume 1

  - Men
    Perfume 1

Straight d’ Perfume
 - Women
    Perfume 1

 - Men
   Perfume 1
   Perfume 2

Aspire Perfumes
- Woman
- Man

Accords
  - Top Accords
     Accord1
     Accord2

  - Core Accords
     Accord 1

  - Base Accords
     Accord1
     Accord2

Do that and the app will be event better make por life easier.

### 5/5 — Very Helpful Tool

*2026-07-04*

I have been using this tool for all of my homemade formulations and not just for homemade perfumery. It does lack a formula batch log where you can log the date and size of new batches and then it tracks your raw materials inventory so you know when to reorder. That is the only thing I have noticed that would be on my ‘wish list’ for a future release, but not a ‘must have’ at this point. I love it.

### 5/5 — Love Formulair!

*2026-01-08, version 1.5.11*

I am just starting on my perfumery journey but I am finding this app so useful. I look forward to continuing to use it to build formulas and keep myself organized. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Perfume artist’s best friend

*2025-09-18, version 1.5.11*

I can’t thank you enough for making this app! It’s everything I need.

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2025-09-14*

Really great app. Use it constantly.

2 suggestions.
I want to be able to copy images into the notes fields. I wanna put the little molecule diagrams or just a photo that matches the smell to me. Especially for the materials with the arcane chemical names.
The second is less important, but I wish there was a place to make general notes that wasn’t necessarily attached to a material or formula. I know I can just use my notes app for that, and I do, but it would be nice to have it all in one place, so to speak.

### 5/5 — Just great

*2025-07-23, version 1.5.11*

What a great app! I almost have has much fun using the app then making the perfume. A must have ! Well worth the buy!

### 5/5 — excellent

*2025-04-05, version 1.5.11*

Sam has created a very useable, effective app for perfumers. A personalised inventory with important data fields, a formula chart that can be configured any way you need to, with dultions, scaling. He has created a app for pennies, that rivals the thousands of dollars app. It is quite manual which I prefer. It does not come loaded with IFRA data or GC data, but all of that can be added as desired. and it is that data that really what you pay for in the expensive professional softwares.

### 5/5 — “Accord” formula group tab

*2025-04-03, version 1.5.11*

Is there a way to incorporate/ calculate accords in the formula??? That would be greats.

### 5/5 — Indispensable!

*2025-03-31, version 1.5.11*

This app is absolutely indispensable for every person that work in this woinderfull world!
Nice job Sam, youre so great!!

### 5/5 — Best app for for perfume logging

*2025-03-26*

Pros: I’ve been using this app for a couple days now and all I can say is it absolutely fantastic, Everything about it is simple and easy to use format. It helps you with the math also, Especially for a beginner like me.

Cons: none! But perhaps just some slight improvements such as more color variations to use on the app would be nice, and even an image option to capture what the raw material looks like.

But I’m loving the app, and it’s worth the premium!

Thank you Sam

**Developer response:** Thanks Adam - FYI there’s an option in the app settings to enable a complete colour spectrum colour picker to enable you to pick any colour you’d like. The default palette is specifically designed to work in both light and dark mode.
